Had Fisher& Paykel top loader for 19 years, good unit. Given the choices today wanted front loader as they historically give better wash and appear to be better with water usage. After evaluating many brands and models the Bosch appeared to be a great compromise with excellent reputation and numerous features as well as finding out after purchase that it is remarkably quite. Being on special at that time was an added bonus. The other bonus was the ability to purchase a genuine Bosch plinth/pedestal stand to raise the machine a further 400mm which is just great for my wifes and my back. Extremely happy with the Bosch purchase and as always the people from Good Guys Tuggeranong were excellent.

We bought the 9kg bosch washing machine model WAW28440AU for $1405. We had previously had an AEG for 16 years so we were nervous about trying a new brand but we didn't like the new model AEG due to it's long cycles and poor reviews. We selected the bosch because of its large capacity, flexible cycle times, quiet operation and cold wash options. It's very easy to use the dial to select the appropriate wash. We can open it at any time to add further dirty clothing and we no longer get woken up by frenetically loud spin cycles. It has a huge opening to make loading doonas and towels easy. I am absolutely loving my new Bosch front loader machine. Saves on water, power and energy. The clothes are coming out much cleaner/fresher smelling on the Speed Perfect 1hr cycle than from my old top loader (1hr 23min cycle) and without the need for handwashing/spot treating 1st. Going from a top loader to a front loader I was concerned about the size of the drum being so much smaller, as I have a family of 4. Before purchase I weighed my largest size loads and they were never past 5kg and so far my loads have all fit into the drum easily without being stuffed in or reaching the top. It really stunk but it didn't seem to cling to the clothes after a good line dry in the fresh air and sun. I have been doing 2 loads a day for the last 1.5wks and the plastic smell is getting considerably milder by the day and I suspect it will disappear fully in another month. 2) Installation problems The second issue is the Aquastop safety valve feature involves a chunky plastic attachment on the hose near where it screws onto the taps. Due to this I couldn't fit the hose through the precut hole in my laundry cupboard to reach the taps which are located inside. As I rent and can't cut the hole in the cupboard bigger, without getting approval first and having to to pay a lot for a handyman to do the job. I opted to pay $56 for a special extension hose attachment which I had to buy from Bosch online. This allowed my to hook up the water inlet hose without the need for modifying my laundry. A heads up about this from the store salesperson might have been nice as I didn't discover this until they came to deliver & install my machine but couldn't hook it up because of the attachment. I had to wait an extra week for the new hose to arrive before I could use the machine.
My previous Bosch washing machine I have been using for 19 years was finally retired after the drum suspension got so bad that it tried to exit the laundry on every spin cycle. After much research, I chose the new WAW28440 (German built) model after such a good run with the previous machine. This new one is brilliant! Only used about 10 times so far, but it is quiet, washes everything very well and doesn't try to wander about the laundry like its predecessor used to do. Very happy with this purchase. Also great purchasing experience with Good Guys and their delivery service.
I have had this machine now for over 4 months and I have tried numerous cycles. Very easy to operate and change settings which I really like as I don't believe you need to have a degree to operate. Very quiet and so far I happy with the result of my washing. Saying this, I was never dissatisfied with my previous Whirlpool Front Loader either. I wanted something bigger so I opted for the 9kg as I wanted to be able to fit my coverlets and some bedspreads, which I had trouble with my previous 7kg machine. Buyer beware and if you are looking for a large machine due to similar reasons then no matter what brand you chose, as I now believe that they all do it, they advertise their large capacity but it only works on some cycles. You can change a load from a 2hr to a 1.10 if allowed by pressing a quick setting. I also wanted the 15min setting as sometimes I just want to throw in a few daily items which is extremely handy. I also tend to find more items once I have started my load and find it very handy that provided that the cycle has not gone on for too long you can pause and add to your load without water being drained out as to me that would be useless than you might as well start again. I opted for being made in Germany, and time will tell me if the extra money spent has been worth it but if you are not fussed than you can certainly pick it up cheaper.After each load regardless of cycle chosen, water also sits in the rubber seal, so I wipe it all after I have finished all loads for the day. I believe I have read that if it doesn't all drain away that mould could grow and could make washing smelly. This is with most front loaders not just the Bosch, and that is why I take a minute to do this each time and leave the door slighty opened.Overall, it's a very nice machine and I certainly would buy again and recommend.
Careful when purchasing, there are some Bosch machines made in China and some in Germany. After reviewing on Choice, only purchase made in Germany, series 8. Also another consideration is where you are installing your new machine. I wasnt made aware that there is a water safety device on the tap end of the hose and it needs to fit through an opening large enough. Unfortunately for me my under the bench location didnt have a hole big enough and the delivery people wouldnt enlarge it (not under there job description, even though I had asked for premium delivery). Being an over 70, living alone I had to source and pay extra (which I hadnt budgeted for) to have it installed. Otherwise happy with my purchase.
Bought this after owning a Samsung 7kg for over 12 years before it developed an electronic board failure. Overall this is a great washing machine, made in Germany, is fairly quiet when running and efficient (though you have to select Eco mode manually each time because it always defaults to Speed).A few points to keep in mind if you're after some specific features. This unit does not have1. Pre-wash/soak function (you could begin with a 15-minute quick wash, reload detergent/powder, then start or delay the main wash)2. Programmable/memory/favourites feature (if you are used to having customized wash method)3. Home Connect feature (nice to have especially when you already have it for a Bosch dishwasher for example)

Easy to use, my friend has one and helped me work out a few tricks I wasn't sure of, such as reducing spin speed and temperature control. I am 69 years old and not great with technology. The Good Guys in Rockhampton were so helpful and the lads delivering were super fast and efficient. They removed the old Hoover washing machine and plumbed in the new Bosch. All done expertly in about 10 - 15 minutes. Great service.
