This is a cracker of a little lawnmower. It’s reasonably priced with Heavins and as a new customer I got an additional €10 off! They really support their customers and the Bosch lawnmower works a dream. Keep your lawn low enough and you can zip through it with no problem. It’s easy enough to clean and yea grass can get caught at the sides but you can get at it and clear it out. Also with the way prices are for electric and petrol it’s worth putting in a little more effort and time and it won’t cost you anything extra. Be patient with it and look after it and it should last a long time. Thanks Heavins for supplying products that work, I appreciate you guys.

Bad Instructions and Some Design Flaws

This arrived and took me sometime to set up. The instructions were not that easy to use and needed a bit of brain power to do so. Strangely, there is a gap left on the side of the cutters and the rolling pin. What, therefore, happens is, grass gets stuck in that gap/exposed section which also has the spring metal.Since I have already used it and do not have a Robert Dyas close by, I have decided to keep it and not return it.The bucket/weed collection bin is not useful cos it doesn't catch or collect the weeds at all. I have resorted to mowing without the bin and raking all the weeds up later. Rework and waste of time.

Bosch AHM 38 G Hand Mower

I was so looking forward to using this for a small area of lawn. Its Bosch so you think quality and reliable performance, right? Not with this product. Fiddly to put together, the instructions not in any way helpful. The system for lowering or heightening the length of the grass cut is hopeless. The instructions say it should click. It doesn't. You have to loosen nuts and bolts and guess each side. When finally you get the mower onto the lawn it is not at all a smooth run, and I have a level piece of lawn too. Too bad for anyone trying to mow anything slightly irregular. The cut wasn't neat and clean either. The cut grass looked hacked. Bosch Green AHM 38 Manual Push Hand Mower 0600886103

This was my first time putting a lawn mower together without any help. Can be a little fiddly to put together, advisable to use a proper spanner to put it together instead of the poor attempt of one that was supplied with the mower, especially if your hands are a little arthritic. Instructions were rather unclear to me as to how to adjust cutting height etc but after a cuppa and a good scratch of the head I finally figured it out. Doesn't like grass that is more than a few inches long, I found I had to go over that area backwards and forwards like using a vacuum cleaner with the mower on its highest setting before dropping it a little to go over it again properly (after raking over). If you walk too slow it won't cut the grass but chews/rips it instead. Walk too fast and your legs get covered in grass even if you have the grass box fitted! I have a 5 meter by 10 meter-ish sized lawn and it didn't take me long to cut even though the grass has been neglected for some time. Overall a good little lawn mower now I have the hang of it, reasonably priced and powered by Shank's Pony so no petrol or electricity required.

This mower gives a good clean cut. Don't try to compare it to a cylinder mower where you just plug in and go. You have to make sure your lawn is free of any debris, otherwise the blade reel will trap. But if you take the time to tidy up your lawn, this mower will give you the best cut. It's very light to push and so convenient. No trailing wires, very little noise. I couldn't wait to use it, and can't wait for my lawn to grow quickly enough so I can use it again. These manual mowers were very commonly used when I was a child and they did a great job. People's lawns looked good off the back of simple technology. Love it

Easy to put togther - requiring only bolts for the handles and the grass collector. The actual cutting device is already set up perfectly and is ready to use. Only one problem - one of the bolt holes on the handles is not perfectly aligned and so the bolt will not go through. This can be corrected with a file of the right shape (temporarily, I have used a cable tie) Light to carry between patches of lawn, easy to store. Very easy to turn at the end of a row and go back again. Fits down narrow paths in the kitchen garden. Cuts really well! Much, much better than expected. Light to push - and still easy to push uphill, on uneven ground and through longish rough grass. This mower tackled 4 -6 inches of grass, thick in places, with a lot of ribwort plantain thrown in. Twigs do stop the mower rotating, but little else does. Some areas require two passes from different directions - most is cut the first time. The odd long grass stem escapes cutting, but that doesn't bother me. If you are cutting a lawn that is already in good condition, I think this would work perfectly. I find that the grass collector does work (granted, my cuttings are quite heavy and green, not flyaway at all) and collects most of the cuttings. I scooped them out by hand and added them to flower beds as green mulch. However, I prefer not to use the collector and just rake up afterwards if necessary. My previous mower was a large petrol mower - the deck has fallen apart due to rust so it is unsafe. In the time it would have taken to pull out, fuel and start that mower, this mower had finished the job. Oh - and its virtually silent. Brilliant for quiet afternoons.

The roller needs adjusting more than once

Thanks to the lockdown, I considered a push mower for a bit of exercise excuse. I had a hand mower when I was a teenager, and never gave them another thought after I changed to a rotary mower. The catcher is a joke, but only because it's fitted by attaching the bars in such a way that it was an after thought so take it only as an option, not a necessity.The roller adjustment info says that you will only need to make one adjustment and leave after that. Totally impossible because of its position with the nut lugs which move up and down with the roll of the grass, so you have to constantly adjust them to get this mower to work in tandem with the blades. I was very disappointed with this mower and am looking to return it. My lawn is very flat with no bumps and should be easy to mow. 1 The mower is too light and can be difficult to push. It lacks the weight of the older generation mowers. 2 Grass ejected towards the grass box tends collect at the front and on top of the front roller and cylinder cover. 4 Although the grass box is large it would only get filled by continually clearing the grass off the roller and cylinder cover 5 The cylinder blades do not rotate fast enough due to the small gear ratio between the cylinder spindle and the drive wheel. 5 The design of having a rear mounted grass box is fundamentally flawed for the reasons given above. There should have been six bolts and screws for the handle and two for the grass box hooks. The bolts were not interchanable although they looked the same. The numbers in the little plastic bag had been reversed. Four too many for the grass box and four too few for the handle which I could not put on. The man I spoke to at Robert Dyas switchboard was as helpful as he could be but it seems I had to get in touch with Bosch myself. I took the easy option and the offer to collect it free of charge. The only loss I suffered was waste of time and effort, but even so a deterrent to online shopping. I have in fact already emailed all this, though I think that was in reference to the shopping experience rather than the product itself. compact manual lawnmower

I needed a lighter more compact lawnmower than my current one. I love using a manual one , with the soothing sound of the blades turning , especially in the summer months. This one is definitely compact and light. Easy to set up - instructions were a little sparse, but adequate. The rotating blade has to be adjusted so it doesn't rub against the fixed cutting edge. Initially it was doing this and therefore very noisy- once adjusted the rotating blade moved freely but I had to make further fine adjustments using the side turning knobs so that the grass was actually being cut. Ive matted a few stripes on the lawn but its rainy so haven't used it much. Overall, definitely lighter and more compact than my Webb, but I won't be getting rid of the Webb as it cuts ... MoreI needed a lighter more compact lawnmower than my current one.
