Bose QuietComfort 45 Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones - Black

I’ve only had them for a day and they seem fine. After trying the Sony xm4s (returned 2 pairs before giving up on them) and the JBL TourOnes, I decided to give Bose a go. First off, the sound is seems good on all 3, though I’d say the sonys were the best for immersion, whilst the Bose are better for picking up every individual instrument. Insofar as noise cancellation, the sonys were the best and had more features, wheras the bose only have ANC off/on, the JBLs were useless in this area and when ANC was on, it just pressurised your ears, without canceling out much at all (scrunching a piece of paper in my hand or tapping the table, came through the same regardless. With comfort they come second to the sonys, but occasionally twisting the cups on the QC45s seems to alleviate it. The controls are basic and here it’s a matter of preference. The JBLs were just rubbish in that area. Supposedly there were different touch commands, but mine only seemed to play and pause. The Sonys had really good touch controls and were rich with features. That said, they were very prone to accidental activation. The Bose QC45s only have physical buttons, with limited functions, but they work and I haven’t accidentally hung up on calls, activated the voice assistant or paused. It makes operating them a little more finicky (got to feel for the right button, but it’s far more reliable. The Bose are also the only ones where you can turn off the voice prompts (e.g. no interruptions of some voice telling you you turned off ANC), which I loved.Overall, I think it depends what you’re after. Despite the lack of features, I prefer the QC45s because they work and are comfortable. The sonys are amazing, but with all the complicated technology involved, there was too much that could go wrong and multiple things did, with both pairs I had. I’ll also mention that the JBLs are very uncomfortable and clamp your head. Overall I prefer the bose, because they perform well and their simplicity means there’s less that can go wrong. I also think that they’re the best all rounders. I gave 4 stars due to a lack of features, but feel bad because that’s also why they seem to work so well. The sonys are the best, but my first pair were bricked within 2 months and the second had so many issues (wouldn’t always charge, auto off stopped working, mic was crap, touch controls were too easily set off accidentally). The JBL TourOnes were basically a cheap knock off of the XM4s with features that didn’t work from the get go and couldn’t be worn for long periods.So… best mic was JBL, most feature rich was sony, most comfortable was somys (though only marginally better than the Bose), best all rounders was Bose.

I am extremely hypersensitive to noise when trying to sleep, and am a night shift worker who sleeps during the day. A lot of activity happens around the house while I'm trying to sleep, so I bought three different bluetooth noise cancelling devices. One was the Apple AirPods Pro earbuds, one was the Beats Studio3 Wireless over-ear headphones, and one was this, the Bose QuietComfort 45. Between all three, I am most satisfied with the Bose QuietComfort 45 over-ear headphones. Apple AirPods Pro has a tendency to randomly fall out of my ears. None of the eartip sizes fit me. The Beats were an absolute waste of money. Poor noise cancellation and uncomfortable fit made it such that I'll never buy Beats again. I barely hear my upstairs neighbour dragging chairs and tables across their hardwood floor, I barely hear the furnace, and if I put on soft relaxation music, I get comfortable, peaceful, uninterrupted sleep while wearing the QuietComfort 45. The 20+ hours battery life is nothing short of amazing, considering that the Apple AirPods Pro earbuds only provide 4 hours of listening time per charge. I'd give Bose QuietComfort 45 six stars if I could.

I’m caring for an aged parent with dementia and have also opened my house to my son, his wife, their two year old and their 2 expressive dogs as they transition to life away from active duty. I’m someone who values, rather depends upon, my quiet time in order to be present for my family, friends, job etc. Enter these Bose noise cancelling headphones…whoa! When I first put them on and heard the quality of sound my jaw dropped and you’d think it was the first time I’d ever heard music. I’m not known for my tech savvy but was able to connect the headphones to my devices without the help of my adult kids. As to the noise cancelling: well…that is a tough order to fill in this house. I can hear the dogs barking and my daughter-in-law telling the dogs not to bark while on ‘quiet’ BUT it is noticeably reduced. More what I would consider ‘aware’ mode and, believe me, I made myself read everything to be sure I was working the buttons correctly. In other instances (and decibel realms, lol) I am completely unaware of noises…like my husband asking if I need more coffee. Thankfully we’ve worked out a way for me not to miss getting my cup refilled even if I am blissfully ensconced in my happy place-headphones on and zen in progress. I absolutely LOVE being able to listen to the music/podcast/audiobook that restores and invigorates me while I cook dinner, clean up or zone out. It really and truly is saving me and the relationships that matter the most to me-among them, my relationship with myself. Thank you BOSE!!!
