The wide variety of tips and stability bands also makes wearing the earbuds for extended periods of time quite comfortable and I have not noticed any discomfort when wearing them for multiple hours at a time.Once everything was properly setup, I certainly was not disappointed. The sound is nice and crisp and the noise cancellation is unparalleled and this is all before even making use of the various customizations that can be made via the Bose Music app.One of the other things I really like about these Ultra earbuds are the touch controls which can be used on either earbud. Swiping up or down on the earbud to control the volume is really handy and I especially like the ability to turn the noise cancelling mode on and off by simply long pressing on either earbud. There is an additional listening mode called “Immersive Audio” which is supposed to make you feel surrounded by whatever you are listening to but I prefer just the standard stereo audio. Others may enjoy this feature more though and it certainly is not a negative that they included this new feature.The only slight downside I can come up with is the microphone quality when using the earbuds for phone calls. I was told my voice seemed to echo a little bit as if I was in the bathroom but it was still plenty clear enough for the person on the other end to understand what I was saying so this isn’t all that big of an issue.Overall, the Bose - QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are great, high-quality earbuds and I highly recommend them!

This makes the music sound like it is coming from all around you, as if you were sitting in the same room as the band. The Bose Immersive Audio feature can be set to two different modes:- Still: This makes the music sound as if it were coming from in front of your body, even if you turn your head to the side. This can be a little disorienting at first, as it feels like the earbuds are not even there and that you are hearing "real" music in front of you.- Motion: This setting is a little more comfortable (yet less impressive) as it allows the music to follow your head, so the sound feels like it is always coming from the same direction your nose is facing.### Aware (with ActiveSense)As with the previous generation of QuietComfort Earbuds II, the "Aware" setting is still present, which relaxes the Active Noise Cancellation and pipes in the outside world for those times when you need to hear an announcement or otherwise hear what is going on around you.I really appreciate the "ActiveSense" setting that you can enable for "Aware" mode, which helps prevents loud sounds from being over amplified as it is piped into your ears. My earbuds are black and when it fell in the grass, it completely blended into the environment. . Luckily, after looking for the earbud at different angles, I finally found it. It would have been helpful to have a Find My Earbud feature or enable the earbud to beep in order to locate it.If you are looking for a new experience in listening or in enjoying quiet times, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are for you.

The weather was much warmer than I’m used to and they were AMAZING, and when I say AMAZING I mean they held in my ear without any issues slipping off, yet very comfortable! I actually got to use these headphones in a business trip to LAS VEGAS and let me tell you that they ROCK! The weather was much warmer than I’m used to and they were AMAZING, and when I say AMAZING I mean they held in my ear without any issues slipping off, yet very comfortable! Before the flight I charged the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and the flight was about five hours long and I was able to land and take a Uber from the airport to my destination and I still had charge left so I am impressed, now with that said I played two full games of Monopoly on my phone and no issues! I’ve been a big fan of Bose earbuds for many years. I’ve owned wired versions and have 3 versions of quiet comfort earbuds: original QC, QCII and now the QC Ultras. I really loved the original QC version, sadly I lost the case and couldn’t purchase a replacement that works. Not sure why it did that, maybe it was switching between modes automatically- it was a bit annoying. The QC Ultra has a little bit of the automatic sound mode switching, but not as much as the QCIIs. One thing I notice with this version is when connecting to different audio sources with my phone (audiobook, looking at a website, playing a game, or talking on the phone while doing activities on my phone), the earbuds think I’m “hanging up”, which is a bit disruptive (it makes the string instrument hang up sound). With my original QC, I could switch between listening to my audiobook, then start playing a game (which automatically stops the book) and then restart my audiobook while playing the game. With the new QC Ultras, sometimes doing that doesn’t work because the earbuds think I’m “hanging up” and I just can’t get things to reconnect. The battery case holds several charges, which is nice. I’ve only been using the earbuds for about a week and a half, I need to better adjust the fit, sometimes I feel like one side might fall out. After continuously using for 1-2 hours, my ear gets a little sore. These are really powerful earbuds and I’m very happy with them. Sadly, my true favorite was the original QC version, but these are really nice. I’m sure I’ll like them even more after adjusting the fit a little bit.

To me, this really makes a big improvement in how they sound and how well they stay in when I’m moving around.These are the first earbuds I’ve had with “immersive audio” which is apparently a new Bose innovation. There are a couple of modes with it: Still (you’re sitting still) and Motion (you’re up moving around). It’s really pretty cool. Somehow it adjusts the music, so it sounds more like it’s in front of you coming out of speakers instead of the usual earbud sound. It’s kind of hard to describe, but once I heard it, I thought “oh, this is really nice.” The difference between the two modes is fairly subtle, so I’ve just set it on Motion even if I’m working at the desk.One thing that surprised me, though, is that the earbuds can apparently only be actively connected to one device at a time. You can pair to multiple devices and manage those devices in the app under “source,” but only one can be actively connected at a time. I can certainly live with the limitation, but I did expect that you’d be able to connect to at least your phone and one other device at the same time.Still, though, these are the best earbuds I have, and all the others are going into the drawer. The noise cancellation, the immersive audio, and just the overall quality of the sound makes these far and away the best earbuds I’ve had the pleasure of using.

People I would speak to could never hear me because all they could hear was the wind and any background noise, which was so annoying. With these Ultra Earbuds, people's voices sound so crisp. I'm a frequent flyer and somehow always end up sitting next to a crying baby on my flights. On a recent trip, there was a crying baby sitting in the row directly in front of me and the noise cancellation really drowned out the crying and screaming. I was so content and was able to relax in peace and quiet for the entire 3 hour trip! The only thing that I need to figure out is the right size of the earbud rubber casing. The right side is perfect but the left earbud tends to keep falling out of my ear so I will need to do some mix matching with the provided size options to find out which size suits my left ear best so that it stays put. Also, the case itself is great but I must admit, I liked the flatter horizontal case that came with my old Bose QC earbuds from a little while back only because I feel like it was easier to place them back in the case. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to but I always seem to have trouble figuring out which way I need to insert them back in. However, these are small things that really don't measure up to the amazing quality of sound I'm experiencing and I'm sure I'll figure out how to correct these minor issues soon enough! Overall, amazing earbuds worth every penny!

All in all, it took about 3 minutes to get them connected and once connected, there is a simple tutorial on how to use the various features.Operating the earbuds is extremely simple from volume control (swipe up or down on the unit), play /pause (single tap) skipping forward to the next track (double tap), previous track (triple tap) etc. Answering phone calls that come in – single tap to answer, double tap to end I chose a shortcut for each earbud which operates by a simple single long tap– the left earbud set to cycle through the noise cancel modes (Quiet, Aware, Immersion or custom setting)– the right earbud cycles though the Immersive Audio modes (Still, Motion, Off).Noice cancellation – simply unbelievable! For full noise cancellation I like the NC set to Immersion with the Immersive audio set to Motion. I can then listen to music in Immersive Audio with the benefit of full noise cancellation. When I need to be able to hear my surroundings, I long press my left earbud to set noise cancellation to Aware. Simply works beautifully.Sound – Again – just amazing. I took a few hours to set my own equalizer settings that I personally like. Out of the box, the sound is wonderful but a bit base heavy for my taste. Through the app, one can dial in the sound to their own personal preference. This of course will be different for everyone, but I am confident everyone should be able to get the sound they desire.Battery – Just about exactly what Bose stated they would be – 4 hours if listening with Immersive Audio – 6 hours if this is toggled off. Recharging was adequate and you can get to 50% in 20 minutes or so, full charge about 50 minutes. The case holds 3 extra charges. The case cannot charge wirelessly (unless you buy the $50 wireless charging case cover) but does have USB-C.Immersive Audio – An industry first! When set to Motion - Audio sounds like it is coming from two stereo speakers in front of you that follow the movements of your head (Use for the most consistent experience. Best for when you are doing activities that require you to frequently turn your head or look down). When set to Still - Audio sounds like it's coming from two stereo speakers in front of you that stay where they are when you move your head (Use for the most realistic and powerful experience. Best for when you're stationary). When set to Off - Audio sounds like it's coming from your earbuds (Use when you want a classic listening experience or want to conserve battery life).I personally like Immersive Audio On – either Motion or Still – yes uses more battery but it sounds amazing!In short – these are simply superb and definitely worth the dollar amount if it fits your budget. My only negative – at this price point, the case should be capable of wireless charging. You will not be disappointed by this offering from Bose.

I also suggest going to the support website linked on the box and downloading the manual (at least skim it). Another thing about Bluetooth connectivity is that you can only connect to one device at a time (it seems to remember multiple devices), whereas some other earbuds offer a multi-device connection. It announces the device name you’re connected to when it powers up, which is helpful if you’re not sure which device is connected.They rest in the ears very comfortably. The default size earpieces were perfect for me, but there were two other sizes because not everyone's ear is the same size. They are very comfortable, and if you get them in correctly (with the right size ear fitting), they hold very well, which means I can go for a walk (or on the treadmill) without worrying about chasing after an earbud if it falls out and rolls away.A USB Port charges these Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds on the charging case (which, of course, holds a charge for charging the earbuds while away from power sources). The light is orange while charging and white when fully charged. When you open the lid, a light inside slowly flashes blue when Bluetooth pairing is active and otherwise indicates the charging status of the earbuds themselves (separate from the case). On one occasion, the right earbud did not turn on; however, inserting it back into the case and then removing it seemed to fix that.I'm very happy with these earbuds, and plan to regularly carry them in my pocket even though it is a larger case than i'm used to for true wireless earbuds.
