Yet the connection to Alexa holds well, as does the Bluetooth link. and yet for my devices and music library, through WiFi via the SoundTouch app, But it’s a minor complaint and only happens every once in a while. Also, it’s a shame you can’t “Airplay” to it. Its WiFi connectivity happens exclusively through the SoundTouch app on mobile devices or Mac/PC. The speaker has the WiFi tech, and Bose has the software to implement airplay to other speakers of theirs. Why not here? It seems to be a missed opportunity that in itself could sell more systems!Overall, a great little speaker, with the Bose quality and bigger audio than its size might otherwise lead one to believe. Oh; and the little remote control is also great (although I tend to misplace it and use the SoundTouch app on my phone or Alexa to control it...) !

The SoundTouch app (at least, the iOS version) is very smooth and intuitive. The SoundTouch app (at least, the iOS version) is very smooth and intuitive. Straight away, I had 4 of the 6 pre-sets read to go, including a couple of internet radio stations and local music from my iTunes. My only gripe with the Speaker (more so, with the SoundTouch eco-system, rather than the speaker) is the lack of Amazon Music support in the UK at the moment. The app lists it as a supported service, however logging into my Amazon Music account produces a ‘not yet supported on this platform in your region’ error message. While the SoundTouch 10 does not natively support Apple’s Airplay protocol, I found that using the standard Bluetooth connection from my iPhone was still incredibly easy and sound quality was still very good. This can be achieved by going to Settings -> Bluetooth and then connecting to the SoundTouch 10 speaker. From then on, when you play some audio on the phone, it will be transferred to the speaker.I immediately began to throw a variety of music and sources at the speaker to test the sound quality and I was blown away by the quality of such a small speaker. The speaker packs a real punch with the bass, even at low volume levels, really giving depth to the music that you are listening to. I like the fact that you can reduce the bass within the SoundTouch app, however I am pleased to say that I have not had to do this, owing testament to the Bose engineer’s choice from the factory. The volume that this little speaker can reach is incredibly surprising, easily filling our large (19ft long) kitchen with the sound travelling throughout the house and into the garden. As I am typing this review, I am sat upstairs with the volume set to around 60% and it is plenty loud enough. After tinkering for a day or two, I soon realised that the SoundTouch 10 speaker connects to the Samsung SmartThings hub and I became very giddy with what could be done. I now have the speaker set up to automatically start playing when certain actions happen and ensure that the speaker turns itself off when everyone leaves the house.Overall, I am incredibly happy with the SoundTouch 10 speaker and I will certainly be purchasing more of them for other rooms in the house. After ‘testing the water’ with the SoundTouch 10, I can certainly say that I will not hesitate in buying the bigger SoundTouch 20 or SoundTouch 30 for rooms that require the larger size.

Turns out, the speaker wasn’t connecting via Bluetooth (my iPhone and Galaxy phones had no Bluetooth problems.) Here’s what I did to get the speaker connected to the PC:1. I downloaded the Bose Soundtouch 10 app to the PC, installed it and started it.2. I turned on the speaker and connected it to the PC via a USB cable.3. On the speaker, I then pressed the 2 key and the Vol – key simultaneously.4. The app on the PC then requested the name of the WIFI network and password.5. The app also requested signing into an existing Bose account, or creating a new account.6. When done, the Soundtouch 10 app indicated that the speaker was now connected via WIFI and that it was OK to remove the USB cable.7. To test the result, I started Spotify on the PC, changed the speaker device from PC to Bose, and the music played at the remote speaker via WIFI. One final test was to play a Spotify tune on my iPhone, connecting it to the speaker via Bluetooth. Success. As it took a long time to finally figure out that the Bluetooth connection from my PC to the Bose speaker wasn’t going to work and the WIFI connection would, I hope this may be helpful to others with a similar issue.

Love my Soundtouch 10s
27 December 2019

I've owned a Bose sound touch 10 for 2 years. 6 months ago I bought a 2nd one to run as a pair. After updating both to make sure they had the same firmware, both connected and were easy to create a group. Some people have complained about sound quality but I have had 0 issues, mine sound great. There are a couple of things to consider when using/placing these speakers:1) these speakers are not designed to crank music in big rooms. Average living room, kitchen, bedroom, they should perform well2) these speakers have a rear sound port. If you want rich/deep lows you cannot place them on an end table in the middle of a room. For best results corner load them, at a minimum have them 2-4 inches from a wall. Also experiment with their placement as with ANY speaker the sweet spot will be relative to where they are placed. If you place as I have directed, then move around the room, you will see that the sound will change as you move and there will be a spot where the sound is the richest. This is due to the sound wave lengths and where you ear is relative to the crest or trough of the base sound wave. You may have to experiment and move the speaker around your room so the sound is better at your desired listening spot. The sound touch app is simple and clean. Almost too basic but I love being able to access/play my spotify and satellite radio accounts through the speakers. The bluetooth capability is good, and I love the 6 presets so I can save my favorite online radio stations.I love my speakers so much I bought 2 more to add to my network.

Perfect sound quality for small rooms

It is easy to operate in a minimalist way.The Bose app is minimal in functions too but this speaker series by Bose does not claim to do any much more than play your music via selected music streaming or library services, internet radio stations over wifi or blutooth and does not try and order your groceries, tell you the weather nor manipulate the lights in your room.Depth of sound is rich, offering options for bass control only however treble and higher notes are clear and balanced by default.Only two downsides is the SoundTouch10 really performs best in small rooms. For larger rooms or open plan spaces at home or work you would be better off using the SoundTouch20 or 30 models. The other being that Bose sends out auto updates to the software and without any warning your music suddenly stops playing as the device attempts to download and install the update which you then need to manually resume playing your playlist as it does not pick up where it left off.Overall, happy with this to complement the bigger one we have.

Sounds a lot bigger than it is
7 September 2024

These speakers are EXCELLENT. I already knew that as I already had a pair. They are of a very small size but pack quite a punch. The sound quality is second to none. I got this one to replace one that failed after over 10 years of flawless daily use. Must be something simple like a blown internal transformer, but hard to tell, so I replaced it with this one from eBay. They are still available in the US, but not in Canada. Bose shut all their outlets north of the border.

This is a BOSE product?
30 September 2019

I have been listening to my 2 Bose speakers for a month now. I have used different apps to try and adjust the sound quality to no avail. I am so disappointed in this product and I really expected that with these speakers having the "BOSE" name, I would hear a nice deep beautiful sound. I did research several products before purchasing these speaker's and I even went to the store that I purchased them from to HEAR the sound of the speakers before purchasing. I bought 2 speakers to have the ability to hear the true authentic sound one would expect from "BOSE". I wanted to hear the deep rich under tones, and deep bass with every sound of the songs I listened to, to be distinguishable from each other, only to find sub-par sound coming from these speakers. I wanted to hear the deep rich under tones, and deep bass with every sound of the songs I listened to, to be distinguishable from each other, only to find sub-par sound coming from these speakers. I can not believe that these are BOSE. The volume of these speakers are less than I had hoped too. I am not sure why anyone would give anymore than a one star rating, but maybe they do not have the experience at true listening skills that I have developed over time. I have beyond excellent capabilities when it comes to hearing. So I can honestly say without hesitation these speakers only rate a one star and absolutely no more. BOSE engineer's, you have really failed here. Please go back to the drawing board and produce the quality of product this name should have. And to BOSE, sell this design to some off brand and move on. Thank you for reading. By the way, I am rating the other items 1 star even if I truly believe it does deserve more stars, because I absolutely do not want my rating of the other areas to distort the first and foremost rating, which of course is SOUND. I would like to note that the other areas, like ease of use, would get at least 4 stars, and my average star ratings, excluding sound quality, would rank a 3 to 4 star rating. So the other less important items are average, however, again to repeat myself, the only true measure should be about the sound quality, period.

This little speaker has plenty of volume!
20 August 2023

This Bose SoundTouch 10 is a great little speaker with plenty of volume. It loudly fills the 1st floor of my house with sound (about 1,100 s.f. downstairs) and is likely heard upstairs, too. I listen to it as I work at my laptop, playing songs through my I-Phone 14. The speaker does not automatically link to my IPhone when turned on, but a simple bluetooth connection tap on my I-Phone links them up with no problem. For whatever reason, my Dell laptop shows it links up to the speaker through bluetooth, but no sound plays. I cannot blame this on the speaker, because it may be the fault of my 10-year old laptop. I did use a plug wire to connect the two and the speaker worked well. The speaker is powered through A/C only --- no battery, but that's fine for my purposes. ... MoreThis Bose SoundTouch 10 is a great little speaker with plenty of volume. It loudly fills the 1st floor of my house with sound (about 1,100 s.f. downstairs) and is likely heard upstairs, too. I listen to it as I work at my laptop, playing songs through my I-Phone 14. If you are looking for an inexpensive, speaker with an internal amplifier and plenty of volume for your home or office, this is the ticket.

[Rewarded Review] 4 years of bad experience
29 August 2023

I have battled with these speakers for over 4 years now. I really don't use them often but every time I do I need to reconnect at least one if not both of them. After spending 2 hours trying to connect them only one will connect. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and reset the speakers multiple times. Nothing seems to work. The quality of sound when they work is pretty good, but not really what I would expect from Bose. The connection is always lagging behind so they do not work well for watching video.I guess it is time to move on and look for another set of speakers for my living room. I just know they will not be from Bose.

[Rewarded Review] Not up to BOSE superior sound standards....
20 June 2020

So from college (the early 90s), I knew the name Bose. I had a friend that was a professional musician and a Sound Engineer (owned his own Sound Engineering business). In the time I spent around him... one thing I took from him was "you can't go wrong with Bose" in terms of sound quality. He demonstrated the difference and though I cannot always articulate why, I can usually hear the difference in quality speakers as a result of having a Sound Engineer room mate. That said... this is a disappointing product as a Bose speaker. It's not bad... it's just average. I like some of the features of the remote as it fast forwards/ reverses selections from your input device and pause is pause to the source device not just a mute like comparable speakers. It's not bad... it's just average. I like some of the features of the remote as it fast forwards/ reverses selections from your input device and pause is pause to the source device not just a mute like comparable speakers. However, I have a smaller Phillips that is also water proof that has comparable sound quality. I tested not just myself (I had a friend swap speakers to see if I could tell and I could) while I asked that friend to do the same blind test.I preferred the Phillips in the blind test and she could not hear a distinctive difference (she is a musician so has more than a refined ear unlike myself). My point? I would recommend this with limitations on that recommendation. If it's on sale and you don't have any other small foot print speaker that meets your needs. It's not bad it's just not terrific nor up to par with other Bose products I own. I like the remote options and that it communicates directly with the source device and app (iPad and Samsung phone) which is a feature that might have had me keep it for my bathroom if I didn't already have the Philips since this was on sale.
