I recently purchased the Boss WL-20 Wireless Guitar system, as I wanted a portable wireless system that's both easy to use and easy to set up. So far the Boss WL20 has been great, there's barely any latency, and the tone is fantastic (I'm only a rhythm guitar player, playing mostly AC/DC covers). and I find the Boss WL 20 gives you bit more bite to your guitar sound, which is what I prefer.Charging is also simple, which gives you hours of playing time.

I had previously bought a cheaper wireless system which I was disappointed with, and decided to upgrade to this. I decided on this one because it is in the mid price range, suitable for a pedal board, and had good reviews. I am very happy with it. It was very easy to set up - really 'plug and play'. The receiver just sits on my pedal board and works perfectly when powered from my One Spot Pro power supply via a 500mA power connector (or batteries). Definitely no need for the Boss power adapter which is suggested everywhere. The transmitter docks in the receiver when not in use, and charges. Then you simply take it out of the receiver, plug it into the guitar, and it just works immediately. What I can say is that I've done 5 rehearsals and 3 gigs in that time, and I've had no issues with interference or drops at all. I also did some test recordings with a variety of instruments, using the WL20 and cables. The difference in sound is very slight in phones and my recording system, and certainly nothing you will hear in a band setting. Overall, great product.I chose this over other competing products because I love the form factor: both the receiver and the transmitter are battery powered and tiny. So, super convenient, quality product.This is an excellent wireless given the parameters of the design and price point.Note: your guitars/basses do have to have solid, tight fitting jacks with nuts that are more or less flush with the jack so that the on/off pin is pushed in to power the unit. And, as noted, it does not have replaceable batteries. However, these two aspects are part and parcel with what makes it great for me: small and entirely battery powered. Unfortunately, to get around these design issues, you're going to spend more money and have a bulky receiver unit. For me, the convenience and form factor are worth it.So, if you want something small and convenient that sounds great, give the WL-20 a try.
After having a Donner DWS-3 wireless get noisy within two days of buying it for my bass, I put the problem down to its flexible jack not handling the vibration. I tried the WL-20 out in my nearest PMT. My first wireless, a Donner DWS-2 had no noise problems, but its signal dropped out in two places in PMT when I was trying out basses, even when only a few feet away from the amp - too much metal, I guess. The Boss had no dropouts in either of those places. On a salesman's prompting, I walked all over the shop floor, playing through the wireless. The WL stuttered once only, and that was maybe 40 feet or more from the receiver and the wrong side of two displays with lots of metal and a staircase. Boss talk much about the cable tone feature that's meant to make the wireless WL sound like a lead. The WL-20 has it; the WL-20L doesn't, being meant for electro-acoustics and electrics with actives, and the WL-50 has it switchable between off, short lead and long. I had tried out the 50 a few weeks earlier and couldn't hear any difference between lead and cable tone on or off, neither could I tell between a lead and the 20 on my active Ibanez. PMT had the 20 and 50 in stock, but not the 20L. I paid the £155 for the 20 and left, a happy customer. There were no dropouts in my rehearsal rooms, either, and hours of battery run-time. As for noise, I can't hear any more hiss with the WL than with a lead. My only downer on it is the unreplaceable battery. The receiver can run off a USB charger or powerbank, but not the sender. Boss do sell the sender by itself.
I have an old Stageclix wireless which is superb but prob on its last legs and getting replacements seem to be tricky when I search on the web. So when I checked the specs the WL-20 seemed ideal - compact form factor, no electric connection needed for the receiver, easy charging via USB, and slots in perfectly including into the recessed input of a Dingwall Combustion bass- this is important as both pieces have a small 'pressure button' switch that activates the system when plugged in, very convenient, and there are appropriate displays to indicate connection and battery aspects. The battery life is excellent on paper, and I tried this at rehearsals - very easy to set, and frankly with a 2.3ms lag time on paper one would have to be a bat to hear any difference! These Boss WL-20L compact Wireless Guitar Systems are very good, however, mine suffers interference when plugged into my McNally OM (with LR Baggs Anthem Tru-Mic pickup fitted). It was only when I researched trouble shooting answers from Boss that I discovered this is a known issue with some acoustic guitars.My Yamaha AP4 (bought from Andertons in 1992!) is fine!It's not a complete deal breaker, but it is annoying to have to use a Male to female jack connector to set the transmitter further away from the body.Perhaps this should be noted on the web site??
I have guitar lessons once a week which I’m really enjoying and always used a cable for my electric guitar which was fine but I could never coil the cable, even after watching YouTube videos which is embarrassing to say haha. I came across these wireless connectors and consulted my guitar teacher to see what he thought and he actually said he’s wanting to get these exact ones so I thought I’d give them a go and I’m so glad I did! I have a katana app which I used every so often but with these wireless connectors I’m using it a lot more now, the sound is the same as you would get if you were using a cable which is really impressive and the battery lasts for a long time. This thing works great! Had it for about a year now. The battery life is the same as when it first arrived. I can typically play my active guitars from about 30-50 feet away from the other system. I've only came across one issue in my live performances; a Bluetooth speaker system around the whole venue was transmitting the same frequency as my wireless system, and my sound was a little crackly at times. Other than that, I would give it 5 stars. Definitely worth the investment
