I bought the Bowflex SelectTech Adjustable Barbell and Curl hoping to save some space in my home gym. The good thing about this product is that it does take up less space than a regular barbell set. The assembly was a bit haphazard and the base for each of the weight plate sets is a brittle-feel plastic, but so far there have been no issues in short-term use. The inclusion of both the easy curl bar and the straight bar is a great value, as is the ability to upgrade weight in future with the same product.

I love the concept of this and purchased it to replace my previous EZ bar with spring clips. However, it has not been a good purchase for me. I am generously giving it 2 stars.I have repeatedly had trouble with the alignment of the bar. It took about 3 hours to get the alignment right the first day, and then when I came back the next day, it was having trouble again and I had to re-do the shrouds process again for another hour. I know some people set theirs up quickly, so I'm not sure if there is some manufacturing variance, but it should not take this kind of work to get setup. I purchased the Bowflex Adjustable Barbell set as a compliment to my 1090 Adjustable Dumbbells and Adjustable Kettlebell. I Love the compacted clean look and ease of use when switching weight. I primarily use the curl bar for bicep curls and tricep extensions. The storage rack is a must to hold both bars and avoids bending over which can strain your back. Pay careful attention when assembling! The two sides have play to adjust placement and there is a sweet spot where the bar connects perfectly. This is trial and error and the weights need to be removed with each adjustment. Overall great addition to my home gym! #sweepstakes
I've been wanting to get this for some time. Now that my wife and I started working out regularly we decided to pull the trigger on some bow flex equipment. We have some from previous years and like the fact that you can go down all the way up to a certain amount of weight, all with having a small footprint for a home gym. Through the bow flex brand we know we are getting a quality product that will last years of use. The only draw back is I hope nautilus makes the instructions a bit more clear. I had to unscrew a few times due to lack of precise instructions. Other than that I am excited to have more gear to our arsenal to improve our workouts. #homegym #strengthtraining #sweepstakes
I bought the SelecTech barbell as a compliment to the SelecTech 552 Dumbbells. I really like the feel of the bar, it's not too large and it has a nice grip surface that is not too aggressive. I really like the convenience of being able to have up to 120lbs available in a small footprint. The barbell was easy to assemble. I followed the instructions with the extra 40 lbs plates. Super simple and straightforward which was nice. I've used barbells at the gym on a regular basis so I'm very comfortable using it. I like that it's not bulky like the barbells with the big plates or even the larger fixed weight barbells. Changing the weight amount is so easy and fast. I am a huge fan of the Bowflex line of weights and machines. I purchased the select tech barbell after using one of their cable machines for 2 years paired with the kettlebell. While I love cables, I found I needed a little iron to really harden and take it to the next level. Not enough weight? Even with just the 80lbs I’ve seen great gains in the form of hardening added muscle. In fact at my age (39) lighter weights with more reps keeps you hard, less sore and way less likely to be injured. Bowflex has really delivered with there line. Changing weights or bar is insanely simple, stress free. I really hope they get the company back on track because I look forward to more offerings.
It is a great companion tool to the 552 dumbbells I purchased a few years ago. The set up was a bit sketchy as the instructions are vague and the pictures small. If you're going to use pictures, make them larger. I spent 3 hours assembling and still have the legs on backwards and will have to flip them tomorrow. Maybe put a sticker on them saying this is "a" this is "b" etc. All the tools and fasteners were included and neatly packaged. The packaging is solid, Fedex tried to tear it up but couldn't.I did perform a few lifts and swapped weights easily and I will say it was great.BTW, this also includes the stand as I purchased that with the weights, this is where the assembly confusion came from.
