Fernet Branca Liqueur Bitters

For many years, I have used Fernet Branca for its medicinal qualities, for digestive problems, and have a shot each nIght. I do not like the taste, but it is excellent for my medical condition. It was the only alcoholic drink that wasn't banned during Prohibition in America, as it was perceived as a medicine. It can be mixed with ginger ale, or used in a cocktail, though I drink it neat.

Fernet Branca is an Italian, rhubarb-based digestive liqueur which really works. It sooths the over- extended digestion, and even helps with "Spanish tummy". Its taste is definitley in the acquired category! It tasts a bit like Germoline used to smell, if yoiu are old enough to remember that. Well worth acquiring the taste, though. Best to try some in an Italian or Spanish themed bar before you buy a bottle.

I love this after a meal as a little pallet cleanser but also mixed with San Pellegrino lemon over ice for a long drink! Highly recommend for its herbaceous deliciousness!

If you're a guy, and you're not familiar with this potent, intoxicating, elixir, perhaps it's time you give it a try - cuz it's kind of fly! I say 'guy' not to be sexist, but based on the known scientific fact that women tend to be more or much more averse to bitter tastes than men. And bitter this is. The complex and sophisticated taste, however, makes this a special drink. If you're a fan of the Negroni cocktail, you might want to give a Hanky-Panky a try: just sub the Campari with a Fernet. I love my Campari, but a change of pace from time to time is great!
I bought this because my cousins said my Aunt (who didn't drink much) used to enjoy this. Her Italian husband kept it. My cousins said it was certain I would think it was awful. They were right! I was amazed I was able to find it through Drizzly.I looked it up online - an article said the easiest was to try this was mixed with Coke. It was still bad.I am going to try it in place of bitters when I next make a Manhattan.
Very distinctive taste, interesting combination of herbs. All spirits with a similar taste and flavour are good for health. I use it as an aperitive.
All great with selection, service and delivery! One thing I will suggest, is reviewing your use of plastic packaging. I used to order from a diff company and they had the same inflatable inner packaging, and they made the successful switch to using a robust paper product to cushion the bottles. So, I know it is possible not to use plastic:) Thanks for the opportunity to share.
This is an intensely herbal, bitter, slightly medicinal tasting liqueur. You can taste gentian, angelica, and quinine, but it's the aggressive punch of mint that really stands out and is what might turn you away or win you over. It's like brushing your teeth with mint toothpaste while standing in a pine forest. If you like bitter and herbal, give this a try. If you find other herbal liqueurs like Campari too bitter, odds are you won't enjoy this. Personally I really like this in a Toronto, and a Fanciulli, and even just with Coke like they do in Argentina (it has an almost cough syrupy sort of taste, but with a rich and complex herbaceousness).
Clove and eucalyptus with a dash of anise. Low in sugar so very herbal in flavor. Known from SF to Seattle as the bartenders handshake.
I enjoy an occasional negroni, and its variation like substituting gin with bourbon. I recently decided to try Fernet Branca instead of Campari. I like a strong herbal flavor. I ordered this from Reup as I can't find this in stores. I was delivered Fernet Branca Menta by mistake. Obviously, a mint flavor was not what I was looking for. I sent an email to Reup and had an immediate response that my replacement bottles had been shipped out that very day. I really appreciate that.
