Braun Epilator for Women, Silk-epil 9 9-985 Facial Hair Removal for

Great service from All Beauty, as always. I am however rather disappointed with this Silk Epil 9 kit. The facial battery operated epilator does not catch the hairs as well as my previous Silk Epil 7. The facial brush and the exfoliating brushes feel too soft to be effective and for me there is not enough pressure from the massager. I should have paid more attention to previous reviewers who stated something similar. The main rechargeable epilator/shaver is on a par with my previous Braun epilator. I chose this Silk Epil 9 with 7 extras and face spa from All Beauty because it was £20 cheaper than on the Braun website. After I received it Braun had an offer of £99ish for the same item. Blast! A bit of pain and.... A huge gain!

Before I start with the review I would like to say that I must have tried all the hair removal methods starting from razors and creams, all the way through cold and hot wax ending on Epilators and lasers. I was very excited about trying Braun Silk-épil 9 9/980 SkinSpa SensoSmart Epilator as it sounded promising. After fully charging it, I decided that I will give it a try. I dry epilated one leg and to be honest it did hurt, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised as it was not too bad and this is coming from a delicate person, who doesn't take the pain to well. To give myself a break I tried the trimmer. It's design is very nice and sleek, and it's narrow enough to maneuver in delicate areas without causing trouble. Later on, making most of my evening bath, I used the Epilator in the water, exfoliating my other leg before that, to hopefully avoid in growing hair. This time it wasn't as painful as before and the whole experience was a lot more pleasurable as I was more relaxed, so the option to do it this way is a big plus. Almost a week later now, I can see the hair slowly starting to grow back and to my satisfaction, there is no hair growing in on the exfoliated leg which is a deal breaker for me as this was an issue for me previously. I can see few hair that did not come through the skin on the other leg yet however, this may just be to early to judge. One of the biggest advantages of this model is that it catches short hair so that means no waiting weeks before I can use it again. As you can imagine, it's really a PLUS, especially in the summer. I also used the face exfoliating brush which is a nice bonus to an Epilator set. Once again a great product allowing my skin to stay extra smooth by using it 2,3 times a week. Ohhh and another advantage I remember about, is the red light indicator alarming you when there is to much pressure so you can adjust that and enjoy a smooth motion. Summarizing, I would recommend this product to all ladies that want long lasting results with a minimum of discomfort. It is pretty, functional, versatile and comes with a big pouch. What else to ask for!?

A little disappointing

Before trying this product I was already familiar with Silk Epil epilators. My current epilator was the Silk-epil wet and dry so I was very excited to try out the latest model with the extra attachments. The overall performance of the machine was pretty similar to the one I currently use, the light was handy to see what hairs I have missed and the 2 speeds are good for epilating different parts of your body. Battery - I charged the battery up overnight before using the epilator however it seemed to start running out and beeping at me after 30 minutes of use. I'm not sure if this is the about of time the battery allows you but if it is, then it is not long enough. It says it is designed to stimulate the skin for a more comfortable experience however I found it hindered the epilation and so I had to keep going over the same area again and again. After 10 minutes of using it, I took it off and used the basic epilation head to finish off. Exfoliation Brushes - I really love these brushes, the deep one I use on the areas of my legs that I suffer from in grown hairs, it's also a great way to lazily exfoliate parts of your body. The soft brush I have been loading up with face wash and giving myself a little face exfoliation/massage. Shaver Head - Another of the attachments to I don't rate. The trimmer at the front works perfectly and chops off any and all hairs of a certain length that it comes into contact with but the shaver really lets the side down. Even after going over hairs again and again it just doesn't get them which is why I'll be leaving this one on the bag. Skin contact and facia cap - These caps allow you to get a really close epilation whilst offering some precision and protection at the same time. They're brilliant for people who are new to epilating under arms. The smaller cap allows for a smaller area to be epilated rather than taking off large areas of hair. The large normal one is the one I usually use for epilating my legs, offers protection but a nice close job. Trimmer - Loved the trimmer, helps to keep things neat and tidy or just a very simple way to trim down longer hairs. Really simple but works well. Overall I was left a little disappointed with this item, I think the heads that set this epilator apart from the one I currently have is the brushes. They offer a solution to a problem that comes along with epilating (in grown hairs). The other heads unfortunately just don't function at a good enough standard or offer anything extra to the epilator. I still love this epilator and will be replacing the one I had with this new one however some of the fancy new heads will not be getting used again.

Delicate armpits and a bikini zone have greatly eliminated epilation using a cap that ensures maximum contact with the skin. I did not use the facial hair removal attachment, because fortunately I do not have to do it, so I can not assess its effectiveness and level of delicacy at the same time! The peeling brush used before epilation reduces irritation after the treatment and leaves the skin very smooth to the touch. You can also use it to the neckline to smooth the skin. It is very easy to keep the epilator clean, the tips can be rinsed under running water and allowed to dry. Charging takes about an hour, and the green LED diode indicates the charge. Two speeds and a diode that illuminates the depilated area to make it quickly and accurately a very nice supplement that facilitates epilation. The shaving attachment works well in sensitive areas when you want to avoid pain and allergic skin reactions. Compared to the previously used Epilator Braun Silk-epil 9 is really a master! Of course, the hair removal is not painless, but even my sensitive skin has made it, so I'm happy. Even the shortest hairs are removed when the epilator is properly positioned. A huge plus for the fact that the box has a small bag, which in the right arrangement will fit all the elements of the set Elegantly and effectively it's probably the most important!

Disappointed with the face spa and the exfoliation

I bought this 2 days ago and used the face spa first. I had a clean face, and now have an acne type rash all over my face. The face epilator was also very slow, despite trying a different battery. It did not remove all facial hair, so I had to keep going over the same area several times.When using the exfoliation, it was very slippery. There is no grip.There was also a little crack in the dial on the epilator when and a little bit of plastic appears to be chipped in the same area. Surprisingly, all the attachments were upside down in the box when first opening.Overall, very disappointed. Will be returning it as soon as I can back to the shop from where it was purchased.

Finally an all-in-1 that really delivers

Having used Braun products for years I was excited to upgrade to the Silk Epil 9, but a little dubious that all the ‘extras’ would be worth the money. I needn’t have worried, because they’re all superb! I especially love the exfoliating brushes and the convenience of the brushes, shaver, and epilator being suitable for use wet or dry. I loved how soft the exfoliating brush heads made my skin feel, and sloughing off the dead skin made my skin brighter as well as helping me achieve a closer shave. The shaver and the epilator heads each removed more hair in fewer strokes than anything I’ve used before, and they also captured much smaller hairs – probably because of the exfoliation beforehand. (The manual recommends using the exfoliating brushes a couple of days before epilating so as not to irritate the skin, but I was able to shave immediately afterwards without any problems with my sensitive skin. I used the epilator a couple of days later to remove the regrowth.) Braun Silk Epil 9 (Bikini Styler) Pros: -Supplied with an AAA battery all ready to go -Gives a neat finish with a really crisp line (for, say, a brazillian) -Closer shave than other pencil-style personal trimmers, possibly due to the front-facing head wich was much easier to use both right and left handed -Worked well on my bikini line scarring, handling all the uneven skin without issue -Lovely shape, it feels great in the hand and looks like a conventional razor -Shaver guards for longer lengths Cons: -It did pull out a few longer hairs, so might be worth trimming with the main shaver first if there’s a lot of growth, and then using the Bikini Styler to neaten things up Overall I have been really impressed by the Silk Epil 9, and love the convenience of having one piece of kit that does so much and is so versatile. The soft-feel pouch being divided into two sections - and the separate shower-proof bag for the Bikini Styler - make it easy to find all the bits and store them securely. It really seems like Braun have thought about every aspect of this product and as a result it feels, looks, and behaves like it’s great quality. I can’t recommend it highly enough, especially if you don’t like cluttering up your countertop or drawers with endless different gadgets. This one does everything you need!

Great for epilating. Go carefully with exfoliating

Great charging stand which is a big improvement on the previous models and convenient for always having a charger device. The epilator works well and does a good job. The massage/exfoliation brushes are more tricky. The head does not hold them firmly in place and this means they can make odd noises and not feel robust. I like the red light for when you are exerting too much pressure and the changeable heads. All in all I am happy with it but would like to see more strength in the exfoliation options.

It just makes it hard for it to grab the hairs (it does help for pain) Use dry and exfoliate before. Also use at the 90 degree angle but move SLOWLY! The faster you go the more you’ll have to go over that same area. Use on the fastest setting. I’ve only used on my legs and it feels similar to a tattoo but not as painful. It is tolerable depending on your tolerance ofc. Trim bikini area before you use it on that hedge. I’ll use tattoo numbing cream for my bikini area because I’m not experiencing what that pain may feel like without it. I’ll update if the numbing cream helps. Poor battery life

Bought 8 months ago. Thought it was great. But after 6 months I noticed massive decline in battery life. Now I can't even epilate both legs in one session. Took it back to Harvey Norman, they sent it away. After two weeks it finally came back with a report to say no fix as it lasts more than 5 minutes! Ridiculous for a product at this price. The woman from Harvey Norman told me my phone battery losses life too but as I pointed out to her, it doesn't drop 50% in 6 months. In the interim I purchased another epilator at a 5th of the price from somewhere that has better customer service. It takes a little longer but I swear it does a better job. And it's corded so no dying battery issues. Don't waste your money on this one.

The smaller epilator is precise, especially around my top lip, nose, cheeks and chin. The larger epilator is also brutal in its efficiency and it too works brilliantly on my chin, armpits, legs and bikini line. I've had the set for only 3 or 4 weeks but I have used it every week. For me this makes the thought of it less frightening as it removes new growth and hairs I missed the week before.
