I bought an S5 four months ago and I like it. The main thing that I would change is the instruction manual. It has way too many drawings in it and very little English. I had to call Braun to find out how to turn it on. Apparently you have to plug it into the charger for a second first to take it out of sleep mode. I didn’t find that advice in the instructions. In summary I find that the shaver is good but the instruction booklet is very hard to figure out. One final bit of advice. Buy some Braun shaver oil and use it sparingly once a week. It could make your shaving block last for many years. It did with my last Braun shaver.

Had the Braun Series 5 50-W4200cs electric razor for a few months now and I must say it's absolute rubbish. It does not give a clean shave or shave the under chin area very much. Consequently I have to then have to have a wet shave with Gillette hand razor to remove the numerous uncut hairs on my face. The whole point of buying a brand name like Braun is you expect quality and that it will do the job you bought it to do and to end having wet shaves. Well this "razor' doesn't do its job its absolute rubbish and Braun should be ashamed to sell it. I could have bought a cheap unbranded one that would do the job better than this thing. does. Braun has let me down and I won't be buying any further Braun products

This razor looks beautiful. It is small and light but well designed and robust. The handle fits the hand well to allow for food control and the small size means it is easy to manoeuvre. I was a little upset not to see a docking station or similar, rather than just having the charger plug in. It would be much neater with a stand or similar. The change from the clipper or the shaver is easy, but attaches well making it not flimsy like other razors. The shaver catches the hair well but needs to be cleaned and emptied after every shave. I use the clippers more often than the shaver, but the shaver itself is good quality. I prefer ring electric shavers rather than straight designs, but this one works quite well even on the hard to reach areas around the jaw. The clippers ... MoreThis razor looks beautiful. This shaver is great, the sort of quality that you would expect from Braun. the packaging isn't great in my opinion, it's quite confusing with bits in all diferent compartments. It could be presented a lot better. In terms of the actual product the design is great, its really nice to hold, it's very ergonomic. The grips work well and mean it's easy to handle even in the shower. It gives you a very good quality shave and has lots of other attachments although I haven't had the oppertunity to use all of them. the foils give you a really close and smooth shave with very little irritation. I've varried between wet shaving and using beard trimmers during my life, i don't have very thick facial hair so when i used an electric shaver when younger the result wasn't great and since i have just found it easier to use a trimmer. However since using my new Braun shaver i have the best of both worlds, the trimmer attachment gets me down to a stubble that the close shaver then clears to a close shave that rivals a wet shave without all the hassle. It's got great power so it feels like it glides over all hairs with minimal effort, and its very comfortable on your face with all 3 sections of the shaver clip having up/down and sideways movement to roll over jaw and cheek bones. Replacing an old Remington and an older Braun series 3 (one at each house), this razor is superb. It has a longer-lasting lithium battery, good for well over a week of shaving between charges, and it has a cutting system that cuts closer than either of its predecessors. Finally it has a great washing system that removes all debris by simply running under the tap (I open it up to check). All for around A$100 delivered. Very pleased, and I am an engineer who is critical of most design. This competed with my blade razors.

The shaver is very powerful and I haven't experienced any hair pulling or snagging that sometimes occurs with lower powered shavers. The trade off is, I think, that some may find it a little heavy and it is certainly substantial in the hand although I love it. I love shaving my head as well I find it follows the contours of the head, face and jaw perfectly. I’m so delighted. Oh, and I shave my head every day as well and it works great. I does cut my fast growing hairs without changing heads. (I used to get them with a flip the trimmer cutter this doesn't have one) this has a course cutter between the foils. The additional heads. 05BT, I've used for eyebrows, nice and even mow stopped at 5mm, didn't want to go further ! Bear blade is good for sideburn tidy up. Not sure why we get the 06BDT head. All cutter guides fit both cutter heads. When cleaning with the supplied brush or after water washing, double check the rubber flaps are correctly inside the cutting head before use as when used as a shaver it makes a mess in the sink.
