Only catch is this machine will not last near as long as a $1500 machine. But at $399 I can afford to replace every so often. My suggestion is to get a high quality espresso grinder. No frills but awesome quality. Don't skimp on the grinder. And don't get a "coffee" grinder?get an espresso grinder. Also I recommend using a puck screen. It makes your pucks drier and keeps your shower head squeaky clean.

The Bambino Plus is a total game-changer for espresso lovers like me who want amazing coffee without taking up a ton of counter space. It heats up super fast, so I can get my caffeine fix in seconds. Plus, the sleek stainless steel design gives my kitchen a fancy upgrade. What really sets it apart is the automatic milk texturing. It makes frothing milk a breeze, and I can create lattes and cappuccinos like a pro.Operating this thing is a no-brainer. It's got pre-programmed shot sizes, or you can play around and customize your own. And cleaning up is a cinch with the removable water tank and drip tray.

Excellent Choice
20 May 2023

I bought this machine a month ago after my trusty machine for the past 18 years finally died. There are so many more choices now and I did quite a lot of research but am glad this is the one I picked. I don't consider myself a really skilled espresso maker, but I never had pressurized baskets in my old machine and don't use them in this one. I mostly use Illy pre-ground coffee for convenience. Super easy to weigh the coffee, tamp and go. I normally just make espresso, but occasionally like to make milk drinks. The automatic frothing works great even on my unsweetened vanilla almond milk. It does it much better than I could ever do. The water tank is easy to fill and cleanup after use is easy. It fits great on my countertop too. So glad I chose this one.

Good Coffee. Get It Already.
11 January 2022

If you've been looking at this and researching it for a while, just buy it. It makes good coffee.I didn't want to buy something like this out of principle of not spending a lot of money on anything. BUT, I calculated my coffee shop runs and the long term savings if I bought something that makes comparable coffee and this really fit the bill. Also, even if I didn't go to the coffee shop, I wanted a good small coffee machine. For its size, it's quite remarkable. If you buy good coffee, it will work great! Or buy some affordable coffee beans at the supermarket and use their grinder in the same aisle so you can have freshly ground coffee.Since it is small, it is lightweight. Or buy some affordable coffee beans at the supermarket and use their grinder in the same aisle so you can have freshly ground coffee.Since it is small, it is lightweight. I use one forearm on top of the machine to hold it down while I take on/off the portafilter. It will take more work than some other "easy" machines. The machine drip tray will leak if you make 2+ servings without emptying it out. The drip tray capacity is small as the machine is small. The price to pay if you want a small footprint. That design could be better, yes, but the coffee is worth it. If you are worried about your counters being ruined by water that you forgot to clean, then put a little tray or plastic placemat underneath. I have a little plastic thing under it from ikea.It makes noise. :D "bump bump bump bump..." if you want it to be a quiet machine, don't want to wake anyone up in the morning in your house, don't buy this. Incidentally, the same tray I bought for it from ikea, has a bubble shape and I think minimizes the "bump" vibration in the house, not the noise. lolI've owned the machine for about 3 years, and just bought this 2nd one for my brother as a gift and he is in love with it. He didn't care about the drippy mess underneath and noise. It's so easy to operate and clean after all this time.Milk temperature (the red light meter) Start with low, then work your way up in the next cup. Imo it is way too hot at the highest temp level.

Good Entry Level Machine
2 June 2023

This is a good entry level machine. If you aren't sure if an espresso make is for you, this is an easy one to start with. It's got a lower price tag than the more expensive ones, and is quite straight forward to figure out. The portafilter is not as solid as their more expensive models and there are two areas the espresso pours from, unlike having a single that filters to two, and the steam wand head I don't believe is removable like the more expensive models. All of that said, it still makes a really nice hot or iced latte. It's great for our office.

Perfect for an experienced barista on a budget
31 January 2022

I have been working as a barista for 2 years and finally chose the Bambino Plus as my first home espresso machine. As this is a popular "entry-level" machine, I struggled to find reviews from the perspective of people with more espresso experience, so I wanted to share my thoughts on some of the features that make it a great choice for both beginners and experts. In my opinion, this is a fantastic espresso machine for the price, with features that strike the perfect balance between high-quality customizability and ease-of-use. I love how quickly it heats up, and while the temperature adjustment is limited to 3 settings rather than adjustment by degree, it's a nice feature usually only included on higher-end machines (without modding). I've heard from some users that the highest temperature is still fairly low compared to other espresso machines, and I don't know the exact temperatures of each setting, but I have no complaints about the temperature—with a quick pre-flush I have been able to pull some really nice shots at the 2nd and 3rd temperature settings. With the included non-pressurized portafilter and a good grinder, an experienced barista can get near cafe-quality espresso with the Bambino Plus. The manual preinfusion/shot timing is a little tricky to figure out, but not bad once you get the hang of it. Finally, the steam wand is amazing. When I was deciding between machines, the steam wand seemed to be an often-overlooked feature especially at this price range, but this has a higher quality steam wand than ones I've seen reviewed on $1000 machines. I use the 2nd setting for latte art and the 3rd setting for cappuccinos. Overall, in addition to being a good beginner machine with the auto-timed shots, auto-steam, and pressurized portafilter options, I highly recommend the Bambino Plus for experienced baristas who want a quick, convenient, and affordable home machine to make quality espresso and latte art. Pair it with a good espresso grinder and some accessories if you want (I added a bottomless portafilter and a distribution tool) and you'll have a solid espresso setup at a great price. Also worth noting, I would recommend this machine and a separate grinder over the other Breville models with the grinder included, for more flexibility and upgrade potential.

Stopped Working After Four Months
24 March 2023

I loved this machine while it worked. Unfortunately it stopped working after four months of use. (All the lights flash and the machine won’t run any cycle - including a cleaning or descaling cycle - and won’t even turn off unless it’s unplugged; put simply, it’s entirely useless). No amount of troubleshooting/research has worked. Amazing that for the the hefty price tag it would stop working after less than six months. According to my brief online search about the issue, other people have had similar issues without any luck. Curiously, however, it’s never mentioned in the owner’s manual. Really disappointing.

The gift that keeps on giving
21 February 2023

It took me months to convince my husband to buy this just because of the cost and commitment with brewing your own espresso. After finally breaking through to him we ordered it, and WOW is all I can say. Every morning not only I but also he looks forward to his morning double-shot. He thinks he is the espresso master himself, and I have had to remind him that he didn't want the machine for so long. It has been so much fun getting to learn how to brew espresso. We no longer get our Starbuck's and truly LOVE the coffee we are drinking. Easily one of the best choices I have made!

Totally changed my life!!!!
21 July 2023

OK. So maybe my title is slightly hyperbolic. But I live in rural Southwest Georgia. I have to drive an hour just to go grocery shopping, let alone find a cafe. I am also one of those people who need to drink their coffee before they can make their coffee. And I am a dedicated Luddite. But my Bambino plus is so easy to use even I can use it in the morning to make that first jolt. I loved it so much I bought a second one for my girlfriend's house where I spend most weekends. Her adult son and his girlfriend also love it! And customer service was amazingly helpful when I had a problem. I never thought I would have a video conference with a coffee maker.
