I actually bought this for annealing 3D printed parts, and for that it seems to do quite a good job, however before consigning it to the shed I thought I'd give it a try in the kitchen. First test was toast, should be pretty simple. After all, we have had some great fully automatic toasters (https://automaticbeyondbelief. org/) since at least the 1960s, I remember being amazed by one of these over 40 years ago, always coming up with perfect color no matter what type of bread. So I put in a couple of slices of Aldi White Sourdough, set it for 2 slices, dark (7). And it came out white. In again. Still white. Took me three goes before I saw any color to the bread. Next I tried a couple of lamb chops. They cooked alright, but filled the room with smoke, and the thing was a real bugger to clean. I'll stick to the standard oven grill. My PET-CF plastic arrived before I could do any more food testing, so it may be great on cakes or pizza, but I'll never know.

It isn’t always necessary or feasible to heat up the oven to cook something and with two of us it’s pretty frequent that we need more than two slices of toast. The Smart Oven Pro is all stainless steel so it definitely matches the aesthetic in our kitchen (important to some such as I) and appears very well built. I know other accessories are mentioned but in my opinion it would have to be a primary cooking tool to need more than what is standard. There are so many functions included in the product – standards ones like toast/bake/broil but one that I’ve found to be very unique is the slow cook, I haven’t used it yet but it goes to 8 hours which is super intriguing. An important thing to note is that you have to read the manual and run a cycle prior to use – don’t skip this step. Overall though so far we’re impressed. The 3 cooking settings we have used worked flawlessly in both execution and mechanics. I know in reading some reviews people mentioned certain parts of the machine wearing down more than desired and I think my suggestion for this would be general maintenance ie empty the crumb tray and wipe things down regularly. This is really great and now that I have this I might be interested in expanding other small appliances that need replacing (I’m looking at your Breville Expresso Machine). My review/post was incentivized and is part of a campaign on Influenster.

Expensive mid to higher level toaster oven that broke down 18 months after purchase, and of course warranty is only 1 year. We don’t have power to the top heating elements in the oven and the cause turns out to be a fairly common problem with these ovens. Many years of comments and forums on problems with these ovens and the fix highlights the very poorly made main circuit board of the Smart Oven (and other Breville ovens). The circuit board has very poorly soldered connections which come apart with time. You have to take the oven apart get the board out with out damaging anything, then re-solder the connection to the element. Also, even when the SmartOven is working correctly, it takes a long time to toast anything. The oven is too big for the size of heating elements in it. The bread ends up being so far away from the actual element that our old smaller toaster oven is actually better.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BREVILLE ... NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! This is a cautionary note to everyone about how Breville operates. You have been warned. If you have ANY problems with the unit (minor malfunctions, breakage, etc.), you will be forced to pay more than your unit is worth to ship it to them and back for servicing, (plus the cost/hassle of finding a large shipping box). To the point, Breville does not provide ANY spare parts for purchase. Zero. We requested 4 glass/ceramic heating element covers, (all had shattered during shipping) and Breville's Customer "Support" reps (Michelle and Renee) informed no parts are available and that we must ship the unit for repairs ($100-$150 each way). Great substitute for a large oven in a small apartment!!

bought this about two months ago and it took me a while to get it unboxed and exactly where I wanted to place it on my counter, where I would have access to it in room to do what I need to do. I obviously had to rearrange my counter. So far I bake cakes, fries, tater tots, and made the juiciest boneless chicken breast, which I usually use chicken thighs, but it was delicious!! I did not buy the air fryer model because the sales associate at Williams-Sonoma said basically it is an air fryer so I actually gave mine away so it gave me more counter space. There are tons of pros to it and some cons. There are tons of pros to it and some cons. I don’t like that the instructions aren’t very clear that came with it for one, The second con that I would say would be you constantly have to go to the app and check what temperature and what setting do to what you’re cooking, which isn’t a big deal but I wish it was a little more straightforward, but living in a hot climate, it beats the heck out of having to warm up a huge oven. I’m constantly having to go to YouTube to watch videos to watch people with the same oven which a lot of times have the air fryer model which is fine because I’m pretty smart and I can adjust it to mine and I don’t like that. It only comes with one rack or if you have it on the bottom rack it’s not magnetic and doesn’t come out or at least mine does not that being said all in all, I would have to say it was a great buy, and I got it on sale, so I don’t know if someone could reach out to me from Breville and answer some questions as to when do I use confection where could I get an extra rack? Is it even possible? I would have to say the pros definitely so far outweigh the cons. I’ve so far enjoyed my oven. Like I said I usually don’t do reviews. However, I got this email and it took me months before I need the urges but so far I’m happy with that. I just have those few problems and sometimes they get frustrating because I’m constantly going to YouTube And re-searching and I want to eventually roast a couple of Cornish game, hens, and possibly a small chicken. I would have to say all in all I’m very happy with it I know I said that there were some cons but the pros so far definitely outweigh the cons so if you can never catch it on sale, I would go for it if you’re thinking about it or have been thinking about it. I also purchased a four piece set of muffin, tins sheet pans, and a square 8x8 pan. Also, I will add that you cannot use parchment paper in the oven which is not the greatest thing but I’ll live because I think you can you a silicone mat. That is all I’m going to say so far but I can’t remember the four piece set the name of it at Williams Sonoma but it was $99 on sale. I’m glad I didn’t purchase various pans on Amazon not knowing if they would fit this that said it was compatible with this particular oven. I will finish with that and if anybody has any advice, please feel free to get in touch with me. I would appreciate it. I don’t know if it’s possible, so definitely go for it. It is worth the money. I don’t think that I’ll really use my oven anymore. Dysinger forgot to add is it does not put off a lot of heat obviously on the top it does but not really the side so much but definitely on the top so you have to be careful, i’ve actually grabbed the rack as well and burned my hand because you don’t realize it’s actually an oven!!

Overall good toaster oven so far, but convection fan already making loud noises

I love Breville. I have their panini press and espresso machine and just ordered their smart waffle maker. This smart oven replaced my older more simple compact Breville toaster oven. It was a good toaster, but I wanted something bigger and fresher. I have to say that the previous toaster oven did experience issues with the buttons that for the most part resolved on their own, but lately it started broiling occasionally instead of baking. This new smart oven is a breath of fresh air. Started out nice and quiet, even the convection fan, but now only after a couple weeks, the fan is already making loud noises (occasionally). In our house we have been using the Smart Oven Pro for over 10 years. During that time we use it almost exclusivly for all our meals. i never had any issue with operating it BUT as I have mobility issues my husband gradually took over the cooking. He loved that he could put a cake in the oven and it would turn off and not burn the cake [or anything else left in it]The one problem he encountered was that he was a heavy handed PUNCHER of keys. He had to use a mouse on his computer as he punched the keys so hard they stopped working. On the other hand even with his heavy hand my BREVILLE Smart Oven Pro is still working great. omg I've had it 8 years already! I LOVE IT! Really - I LOVE it! This is definitely one of the best "expensive" purchases I made and it was worth every single penny! I have used this oven practically every single day. Literally - I've probably NOT used it 6 times since I've owned it. I had completely stopped cooking - it is just me and well, the stovetop and oven - ugh. I've used it to make toast practically every day, homemade pizzas, grill veggie burgers, bake fries, reheat; warm etc etc etc. The only thing it doesn't do is Air Fry and that is why I'm buying a new one. I've never had any problem with this product. I've purchased 3 pizza pans since I've owned it. It's okay with respect to cleaning - I have arthritic fingers so scrubbing the rack can be difficult. ... Moreomg I've had it 8 years already! I LOVE IT! Really - I LOVE it! The bread is necessarily farther from the heating elements in a toaster oven than it would be in a toaster, which only does one thing. Toasters only toast. Toaster ovens need more space in order to also be ovens. I use a dense, whole wheat bread for breakfast. It takes 6.5 minutes to lightly toast it in the Breville. In my Cuisinart toaster it only takes 4 minutes. When making toast, the oven light will come on when there are 30 seconds left in the toasting cycle.
