Brita Marella XL Manual Water Filter 3.5 L Blue Hardware/Electronic

It's ok. If it has water in the internal part and you try to pour some clean water, unclean water also pours out. It's bigger than a standard milk bottle, so it doesn't actually fit in our fridge. The manual is a generic one for all Brita pitchers, I couldn't find this one so it's really unclear if it is dishwasher safe. The box we received it in was pretty damaged and mouldy. It's actually pretty bad now that I think about it.

Crystal Clear Water

Our original jug was badly scratched after well over 15 years of daily use. Also, we live in a very hard water area and despite an occasional descaling, it did need to be retired.Full marks though for its longevity.The new one is exactly the same but, of course, super squeaky clean. It came with a new filter cartridge which we put to use straightaway and the filtered water looks so crystal clear that it very inviting to drink. Every home should have one, IMHO.

Excellent value for money

I have two of these they are excellent value for money, they are very good quality, they are intuitive.If I had to make one recommendation it would be could you improve the filtering of chloride, we live in a hard water area and they add a lot of chloride, the filter does an excellent job but there is still a little residue. I would not think I would be drinking water, as at one point I never drank any water, now that is all I drink part of that is down to my Brita water filter. Thank you Brita.

Fabulous Product

I bought this in August after tasting the water from a similar product at a friend’s .We are really pleased with the water taste, simplicity of use and the easy cleaning of the jug.Filters are lasting about a month which is fine and we are using a lot of drinking water now.I would definitely recommend this product. If you were buying bottled water I think you will find the purity of taste from the BRITA jug matches spring water.

Good size jug for those who use a lot of filtered

This Brita Water Jug is a good size for those of us who get through a lot of water in the day as it needs topping up less frequently. If you use filtered water for drinking, boiling for hot beverages and cooking then this is a sensible choice. When full, it could prove a heavy jug to handle for people with weaker wrists and hands. Also, this was our second purchase of this jug as our first one had cracked around the spout but it was good value when purchased on offer.

Has made a huge change to our drinking habits

We moved home recently and found the drinking water to have an unpleasant taste. We decided to purchase a BRITA Marella Water Filter Jug in the hope that this would improve the quality of the water. It would now be an exaggeration to say that the Marella has transformed our drinking habits. We no longer drink as much tea and coffee. We now regularly enjoy a glass of water instead of a hot drink.

My Only Water Source

After spending a fortune over the years on bottled spring/mineral water - Buxton, Evian, Volvic, etc, - because the tap water tastes like Wigan Baths(!), I can now drink tap water like a pro - but without the terrible fluoride)chlorine/yucky taste. And I'm drinking more water than ever. Also, it goes into my Nespresso coffee machine water tank and the water hardness is LOW! Thanks Brita, I mean it!

Slightly improved button

Decently priced compared to other retailers. Have been using Britta for years. I've gone back to this model as the some of the newer ones look nicer but don't have the little flap covering the spout. Nice to see they have improved the button on the readout, so now it's nice and soft and you don't need to break your finger trying to press it. Would be nicer to get at least 2 cartridges with it though.

Very nearly 5 stars...

I've upgraded from the slim fit older model to this one. It's larger, so heavier. Wouldn't advise it for someone with hand strength issues but it does what's expected.I've taken off one star as I still find inserting the filter a faff. I follow the instructions but it still barely drips out on my first try. I have to remove, resoak and shake before I can get the water moving through at a flow.If Brita can sort that out, it'll be five stars.Water definitely tastes better than from the tap.

Works as expected

Bought as a replacement for similar model which had not only stained (orange, due to rotten stuff in tap water!!), but unfortunately the internal part had become fast in the outer container, so maintaining hygiene proved difficult. There is a hint of that problem recurring, possibly due to limescale build-up and the very brittle material of which the jug is made.However, I just cannot drink tap water, so the filter jug is vital for everything from making tea, to cooking veg, even watering the plants! Love the "flap opening" on top for filling, and the jug does pour well, but maybe I have to accept that these jugs have a short life.
