We are 75% water, as is the planet earth. You can survive weeks without food, I believe two days or so without water. Most of us in the US and other developed nations take this for granted. Yet we are lucky, and even more so if we have this Brita Space Saving Water Filter. It’s a great product, that removes necessary out the sink chlorine and other chemicals, to produce the most delicious, fresh cup of water you’ve ever had. This can hold up to six cups at one time. If I have a complaint, it’s a very minor one. When filling this up, have a bit of free time. It takes several minutes, due to the filter doing what it does. I’ve used water from this in the coffee maker, and it’s made the java taste more refined. The cost for this was around $20. Filters are $3-$4, and I think about once a year is all they need to be changed out. It’s a easy process that will take you a minute. These filters are sold at a lot of in store shops, or through online retailers. There’s a red light on the top, which will indicate when you need to do this. Right now it’s green, so will just enjoy this from the fridge later tonight.

This product is a good option and is simple in its design, but it was a little smaller than I was expecting. The good thing is that it's compact and lightweight. It's an easy product to use and I like some of the improvements made. For example, you don't have to soak the cartridge in water. I like the pouring spout, but it still seems to leak down the container. I like the shape of the handle as it's easier to grip. The cover is a little unwieldy, but manageable (as one of the cheaper products, you get what you pay for). I'm especially not keen on the electronic reader on the top of the cover. I don't think it's an accurate way to determine when a cartridge should be replaced. According to the instructions, they recommend that you fill up the pitcher when it's empty ... I don't think it's an accurate way to determine when a cartridge should be replaced. According to the instructions, they recommend that you fill up the pitcher when it's empty - this is extremely annoying to do when you're halfway to filling up a water bottle, for example. I think many people would fill up when the tank is half full to keep a continuous supply of water. Over 10 years ago, when I went to college, I bought a Brita pitcher for my dorm room. This version had a manual counter that would be set from "New" and move to "Replace" as the water poured in. I'm not sure if this was inaccurate, which was why it was replaced with an electronic version, but it seemed like the best way to count the water usage rather than having an electronic monitor "guess" how much water is being used. I don't think I would recommend this product for someone who drinks a lot of water as you would find yourself filling this up quite often. I fill it up at least once a day because I don't drink much water and not more than twice a day if I'm cooking rice.

PREVIOUS MODEL lasted years and functioned reliably for filtering coffee water. The NEWER DANALI MODEL (blue to match kitchen re-do) is a disaster.Within 10-days of light use: Brittle Clear Base began to show 'hairline cracks & leaks. We had to set it in a large mixing bowl to contain leaked water.Attempts to 'stop cracks with model glue helped' - -HOWEVER ADDITIONAL CRACKING CONTINUED. The item was never dropped or misused in any way. VERY IRRATATED.

I purchased this item thinking I was getting a deal because there was a shelf full of them at my local store marked “clearance”. I guess I got what I paid for because I don’t know if the filtration system is messed up or what but when I finally opened it and drank from the pitcher the water taste like mud. Upon further inspection I noticed MOLD in the top of the dispenser and some type of brown and black slimey substance in the bottom of the water INSIDE the pitcher of water I had just drank that taste like mud! I called Brita and the customer service rep was extremely rude huffing and puffing anytime I asked her a question AFTER telling me to “clean it with bleach”. Finding me a different brand to support ASAP.
I will admit when I first opened the box I was a little shocked at the size of this thing. It was a bit smaller than I had anticipated, but that is my fault. It clearly states the size in the description, so that is on me. It's a great size for a married couple or a single person. I bought this on sale for around $18. Even at that price I feel it is a bit much. I would not pay full price for the size of this pitcher. It seems to work and I do like the taste of the water. The reason I gave it 4 stars was the (imo) steep price point for the size of the product (on top of having to continue to buy filters monthly/every 3 months) and after using it for a month or so the lid has decided it doesn't want to properly snap back in place. I have no idea why this has happened ... MoreI will admit when I first opened the box I was a little shocked at the size of this thing. i like the space-saving concept, the transparent lilac pitcher I ordered, and obviously the filtration capabilities (hence why we got). However, and this is a big however, within an hour or two after pouring a cold glass, my water will taste and smell like mold/mildew. I've inspected the pitcher, and have been cleaning every part and soaking every couple of days with detergent and vinegar. i also cleaned the carbon filter itself, the fridge and put baking soda in there too to see if it would make a difference. It does not. it gets tiresome to clean like that after 2 days. I'm starting to realize something isn't right. the pitcher is rather thin compared to its older counterparts; The water becomes undrinkable. I hope it's just the filter that it came with otherwise ... Morei like the space-saving concept, the transparent lilac pitcher I ordered, and obviously the filtration capabilities (hence why we got). I have never in my life wrote a review but this is product is just horrible . I bought a couple months ago and i was so happy with my purchase . It’s nice looking and the filter seemed to be working fine . I constantly cleaned and changed it . Recently I went to go get water and literally there was mold in the water . I was so disgusted and felt so sick , I couldn’t believe it . So i went on a long deep dive into the internet and found out just how bad this filter is and that it actually makes the water worst . PLEASE do your research on filters before buying . I know this one is nice looking and cheap and has a lot of great reviews . BUT DO NOT DO IT .
I bought this pitcher a month ago and within the first couple of days of this being in my fridge, I could tell that the water had a foul aftertaste. Whenever I would wash the pitcher and place water in it to filter, it initially would taste fine. But with it being in the fridge for a couple of hours, I noticed that it would absorb the odor in my fridge. I also have baking soda to mask the odors in my fridge, but because the spout of the pitcher is HUGE and uncovered its very hard to not absorb any smells into the water. I wish the spout was covered like the older pitchers had.
Having no spout cover to protect from bugs and bacteria is a big deal to me since I’m immunocomprimised. Also, having to remove the entire lid and setting aside on a germ ridden counter just to pour water is very inefficient and just plain ridiculous. The old slim design was much better. But that one cracked on me, and it appears these newer versions also crack easily. So to me it seems they just use cheap materials all around, remove important features, and then increase the price. Great for them, bad for the consumer. They need to go back to the drawing board on this one, just plain terrible.
The filter did not last as long as it was advertised. I have had it for less than a month and only used it three times and it was to fill up my Brita water bottle, which is a great water bottle -no complaints there. However the pitcher either has design flaws, or it’s just broken. It says to change the filter after two months or after a certain amount of uses, however neither of the criteria were met to warrant me to change the filter. But, it also says it would blink red if it were time to change the filter. It’s red and yet I haven’t had it for very long nor have I used it much.
