Super bummed! I got the wides because I have the Glycerins GTS 20 in a wide and they fit nice but they have too much tilt in the shoe and push my to the outsides of my feet and cause a lot of pain. And are not meant for wet conditions, fell really bad wearing them on a walk on sidewalks after a rain. So I picked these out to have to wear for anything outside and or rain related. The wides were so tight across the top of my foot I would’ve hated to see how a regular fit. I was able to wear both in the glycerin GTS 20 just wanted the extra toe room. This shoe has none. So cramped inside. I just wore them from the living room to the kitchen and they were soo stiff and clunky as well. I read a lot of mixed reviews so I decided to try them myself. I also found with the glycerin GTS that my foot slid around too much in the shoe in a wide. I won’t being buying anymore brooks until they come out with a better toe box in there shoe

I love Brooks, and have many pairs, but the Cascadia 17 hurts me. I only wear them 2 times a week for about an hour, but they have, become too painful to continue wearing. The shape of the heel/back is too rounded and rigid. This area rubs my lower Achilles tendon, and has caused me to develop a painful lump. This issue increases with each wear, and I can no longer bear to wear these sneakers.I am thankfully able to return with Brooks generous return policy.Yet I am sad to do this because I love every other aspect of these sneakers.

Excellent value, high quality, very comfortable
20 August 2024

I bought Brooks Cascade 17 off their website. I didn’t try them on before buying. I bought them because I have bought 4-5 pairs of Brooks Addiction & so was confident in the consistent quality, comfort & fitness for purpose. I was not disappointed. They fit perfectly (I based my sizing on my previous Brooks Addiction shoes I bought) They are very comfortable and the grip of the sole is great for walking along rough uneven bush tracks. Excellent value for money. I highly recommend.

Extremely comfortable and great grip
29 January 2024

As a coach and long distance runner, I love trying and testing different shoes.I have been using Brooks for many years. I love what they do and I find them one of the most comfortable brands.Apart from my road runs, I´m now preparing for a 50km run so I´m adding extra trail runs to my training so I got a few different models from Brooks to use for my training. Today I spent 3 hours running in the Blue Mountains, Sydney, with Brooks Cascadia 17 and I absolutely loved it. It's such a comfortable and stable shoe with a great grip and cushion and very breathable. I also had to step on a few spots with water from a bit of rain and the shoe was very responsive and protective.I´m also very excited about using it for some bush walks and hiking.Raquel

Great Update to the Cascadia
11 October 2023

Brooks Cascadias have been my go-to trail runners for years now. However, a few iterations ago, I didn't love the update, so I switched to another brand the last time I needed trail runners. Needless to say, I'm back to Brooks and love the Cascadia 17's. They are very sturdy with plenty of room in the front. While running over roots and rocks, I feel like the shoes hold me in without being inflexible. I'm back to feeling confident that I won't twist an ankle on uneven terrain. I love the new styling, which looks aggressive. I will say that the blue on the sneaker is slightly brighter/lighter than is shown in the picture. I'm so satisfied with the Cascadia 17's!!

Love the colors, that’s about it

Oh man, I really wanted to love these. I’ve been wearing Cascadias for years and have had a love/hate relationship with the different versions. I was really hoping the 17s would feel more like the older Cascadias (the 16’s were way too blocky and clunky for me), but I’m really disappointed in these. I pulled them out of the box and immediately thought they looked like Hokas. The bottoms are super wide and yet they somehow fit oddly narrow in the upper. I have a narrow foot and ankle and the heel pads hit me in a very strange spot. I wear the Cascadias for my burlier trail runs and backpacking and I could barely wear these around the house before I got a hot spot on my heels. I tried two sizes and they both had the same issue. Not for me?
14 May 2024

I’m struggling a bit with my Cascadia 17 shoes. They fit well (as do most Brooks shoes). My problem is that I’m experiencing a lot of big toe and ball of foot pain — and I suspect it is from the 8mm toe drop. I previously had the Caldera 5 shoes and LOVED them. But the newer versions have such thick soles and increased toe drop that I haven’t given them a try. The Cascadia 17 seemed good at first and I didn’t realize they have such a significant toe-drop until I starting researching my toe pain today. (It reminds me of a pair of On Cloudsurfer shoes that caused the same pain). Now I’m paying the price on my trail runs. I’m considering sending them back….

Please make more options in wide and GTX
27 May 2024

I really wanted to love this shoe. It is basically the only wide width option of the trail shoes. The width feels great. There is enough space in the toe box to feel comfortable and it is wider than most of my Merrell wide hiking shoes.I had two problems with the shoe, which is ultimately why I returned them. First, there is not enough cushion. Even with an orthopedic insole, the shoe did not feel cushioned to me. The second issue was with the material around the ankle on the back of the shoe. It felt like it was pinching my ankle. It was not terribly noticeable, but I have tried to deal with that issue on other shoes and I never end up wearing them. From the description of some of the other trail shoes, it sounds like Brooks offers a couple other options with more cushion. Unfortunately, they are not in the wide width. I initially purchased the Cascadia 17 GTX because I really wanted the GTX version. That was not wide enough. It did feel a little more cushioned than the Cascadia 17. Though, that may have only been my foot feeling too squeezed.Brooks - please make wide GTX options. Not just a single pair of wide for each category, but actual choices within each category. Ladies with wide feet (or pregnant feet) also want to have wide choices in trail, GTX, colorful, and neutral looking shoes.

Tight
22 October 2023

I have worn the cascadia for the past 15 years. I occasionally have skipped a model year but have a great deal of experience running in this shoe. The 17 is not for me. I was excited about the new traction system and the extra cushion but I think it makes the vertical inside of the shoe tighter. I cut my run short because I was at the loosest lacing I could do and still had deep red marks on the top of my inner foot where the shoe was too tight. I do use orthopedic inserts but these are the exact same ones i have used the past year in my 16s with no trouble. Returned the 17s and bought another pair of 16s.
