Just bought this and set it up in 10mins. Works a charm. This is a no-nonsense laser printer that only prints out monochrome documents. It does NOT scan, fax, or photocopy which I didn't need anyway. Connected it via usb as I won't be using the wireless functions (didn't even want to try after reading the reviews). Best part is the small size since it didn't come with all the bells and whistles. Fits snugly in a low shelf as it doesn't need much headroom.

I don't usually write bad reviews, but this printer is shockingly bad. After less than 100 pages, the printer stopped pulling the paper. No matter how many times I try to reset it, it will not take the papres any more. I bought new cartridge, no difference.I watched a youtube video of someone opening the back of the printer to check for a plastic nut that might not be rotating/turning, but that was not the case with me, I checked it and it was working.I tried to update the firmware, but the firmware installer can't connect to the printer. Bascially the printer is rendered uselss within 100 pages.

I work from a laptop and use my mobile phone Hotspot to connect my laptop to the internet and the printer. The Brother software package download successfully setup the printer with the laptop to print wirelessly to the printer using only my mobile hotspot. The setup wizard was surprisingly easy and required no knowledge or parameter changes for it to work. The only glitch I have found, is that the laptop has to be connected to the mobile hotspot wirelessly. If you connect the laptop to the internet using USB tethering with your mobile, then the printer will not work. Very easy to operate this printer! Since I saw people in the comments section saying that the wireless connection wasn't convenient at all, I followed the advice to buy the usb-printer cable when I placed my order (but since I'm a mac computer it came with an extra type-c port to usb port adapter). After giving up wireless printing everything went smoothly! Printing was silky smooth and lag-free, and the toner was very easy to install. As far as black and white, single sided printing, etc. are concerned they are no longer a drawback. Just choose to print an odd number of pages and then put it back in the tray and choose to print an even number of pages (as well as in reverse order) for a great duplex printing experience!
