It’s so unfortunate that the reviews forthis great lil’ guy suffered sohorribly from a bunch of angry people posting about their missing USB cords. Honestly, are they angry at the printer? Seems as though they’re ranting and yelling with no plot line, cause they’re angry at themselves. I’d be angry at myself too if I didn’t have to basic logical ability necessary to pick up the phone and handle the missing USB cord with either the Brother company itself, or the Best Buy store or online chat options! Why in Gods name would you run out and order or purchase the missing USB cord yourself, AND come write grammatically inept reviews about the missing USB cord? In that time, you could’ve requested a replacement cord from Best Buy, or telephoned the Brother Corp for a replacement cord, or both, and eaten lunch while day dreaming about all the beautiful black and white pages this baby is gonna print for you when you get your cord!Seriously, this prints accurately, swiftly, and quietly. Brother never disappoints, and it’s so nice to have the option for a more basic option to fill the void in the market for a fantastic, monochrome, compact laser printer. For the price point, you absolutely will not find anything with better performance and functionality. Even in the next tier up, if I was willing to some $75-100 more, I’d still land on this one!Hope everyone had as good as an experience as I did!Oh, and p.s., mine came without a USB cord.

Pros: Great machine at a very reasonable price. It laser prints automatic double-sided b&w plus lots of printing options, all in a very small package. I rest my laptop on top of it so the footprint is minimal. It must be reasonably close to the computer since it must be connected to the computer with an Ethernet cable.Cons: My only issue is why it prints on both sides of the paper when there is only one page to print. My Brother MFC knows not to do this.Conclusion: This is probably the best deal out there for a b&w laser printer.

This is my first Brother printer. It was purchased (new) for use in my classroom, so it is a B&W version. Unlike the printers I normally purchase, it did not include all necessary cables to connect to my computer which was a hassle. A list of necessary cables was not enclosed so I had to do the guessing thing which was a hassle and meant that it sat on my desk while I waited on an Amazon delivery (it was that or do a purchase order and then I'd still be waiting!). Now everything is together, it works well. It's pretty quiet and reasonably quick.Truthfully, I like the lower cost of operation. It is more cost efficient and it does at least 85-90% of what I need (quick reports, master copies, individual copies of personalized materials for students or meetings, etc.), yet I still find myself needing color copies randomly and those have to wait until I get home!I've had some trouble acquiring individual printer cartridges (ink/toner replacement), and that concerns me as once I'm back on campus full time, I don't know how many copies I will actually get from a single "real" cartridge (not the promo cartridge they are sold with). I need to have a good source that sells both individual and pairs of HIGH YIELD ink/toner.So, all said, a good day to day printer if you only need black toner. If you need color, you will need a second unit or a different unit.
