Who prints labels from their phone??? What was Brother thinking? Then I was told that all the machines that use the TZE tape print this 1" piece of tape before each label. The only work around they have is to print continuous labels & to hand cut them. Who wants to buy a label marker that self cuts & then manually cut every label??? If you only want to print one label there is no work around. I also asked if you could use the old tapes that didn't have this issue in the new machines & I was told you could not. Additionally, I asked if they were putting 25% more tape into each cartridge because of the wastage this design flaw creates & of course the answer was NO. Whomever designed & engineered this product & the accompanying tapes wasn't thinking of the end user. The tape is expensive so who is going to be ok with wasting it unnecessarily. This product is going back right away & I'm searching for a company that makes a more intuitive product & one that is more user friendly.

Excellent hardware held back by software
12 November 2024

Excellent Hardware held back from full potential by software. The automatic cutting is wonderful - especially once you find the setting to not cut the last label until you're done printing to save waste. Unfortunately the design software is cumbersome to use for repetitive tasks and too complicated and slow for the most basic labeling. Additionally, that you have to manually connect via the OS Bluetooth settings every time you power on the device (instead of automatically finding it like every other modern Bluetooth printer) makes the one off printing almost a waste of time. Brother, you can still fix this. App and firmware updates are clearly possible. Fix this.PS, this review interface is so bad it brings my whole browser to a crawl. Fix your software.

Full Featured, Great Print Quality, Good Value!

I've had several P-Touch printers over a period of years. In fact I still have my PT-P700 connected to my PC. The print quality of the P700 and PT-710BT both excellent. But nice things about the 710BT are 1) The built-in Li-ION rechargeable battery. You can connect the printer by USB and it's always charged and ready to use without need of an AC power adapter. 2) Instant bluetooth connectivity when you need to carry it around without USB. For example, designing and printing labels through the app rather than the P-Touch Editor software (PC/Mac) even though I do prefer the P-Touch editor which is full-featured and easy to learn. Not sure about Mac, but for windows 10/11 I do recommend downloading and installing the driver and printer settings tool from Brother's ... MoreI've had several P-Touch printers over a period of years. Yes, windows does recognize the printer regardless, but more features and setting preferences are available when you manually install the drivers. And of course, get the P-Touch editor as well (currently V 5.4 at the time of this review). I also recommend using generic TZe compatible labels which are widely available in every size and color on that "A" website that we all know... haha! They are equal in quality to the OEM but MUCH cheaper.

Good label, software is 'okay', too much wastage
6 December 2023

The quality of the labels and printing is very good, the software is 'just okay' with a few annoyances. Whenever I connect my printer, on my saved labels, it changes the label size from 18mm to 24mm, so I have to exit printing, change the label size, and go back in. It gets annoying. There is also a lack of good options for aligning text objects with each other, although lines show up for centering or aligning with the border at least. It also lacks any "nudge" functionality. If you are trying to make a complex label with lots of separate text objects, and want to line everything up, your only option is to zoom right in and drag with your finger. A simple "nudge" button for left / right / up / down, like nudging an image in photoshop with the keyboard arrows, would ... MoreThe quality of the labels and printing is very good, the software is 'just okay' with a few annoyances. A simple "nudge" button for left / right / up / down, like nudging an image in photoshop with the keyboard arrows, would make life a lot simpler. Also, every time you start a new print job, it spits out roughly 2.5cm of tape and cuts it off, before printing. Now, given how it prints consecutive labels without issue, and how chain printing works, there seems to be no reason for it to do this, it simply wastes labels so, out of an 8m roll, if you are printing lots of one off labels, or lots of small jobs, as I often do, you could end up wasting a lot of tape - bad for the environment, and costly to me that I will need to be a new roll much sooner. That's a lot of wastage if I do 100 separate print jobs - over 250cm of wasted tape. And I've tried all the options to stop this from happening. The closes it chain printing, but that always leaves the last job half printed, so not very useful. It does, however, prove that it's not necessary to waste the label, since you can just start right on printing again where you left off, with no trouble with the printer. All in all good quality labels, but the software could do with some improvements to make it more user friendly and convenient, and they need to make an option to create less waste on spitting out excess tape at the start of a job. It should be optional. In particular, constantly having to change the label size is very frustrating when you are doing it all the time for lots of different labels.

Not as easy to use as it should be, but fixable

So just like the product pitch, I wanted to use this in the kitchen for labelling pantry items. Plugged in, with a dedicated iPad nearby, I should be able to step up, open the app, type the text, and hit print. But some really poor design choices keep that from working out-of-the-box.First off the power. It shuts off automatically when idle, even if plugged in, fine. But the power button is a flush-mounted dot the size of a lentil *on the back* of the unit where you would think only a never-press-me-reset button would be. Why not a big button on the top next to the light that shows it's on?Next the bluetooth pairing. But it turns out that you can work around both of these issues by changing the setting that powers off automatically and make it stay on. Astoundingly you cannot do this through the app (either one, more on that later). Instead you have to plug the printer into a computer, download *another* dedicated app for changing settings, and fiddle it there. Then there's the app. The promoted one you end up at if you scan the QR code on the device is "iPrint&Label", and it's a toy. Only sized for a phone, not a tablet, and doesn't even rotate to landscape mode. Fortunately there's *another* app, "Design&Print", which works much better, and is frankly just as easy to use. Have to hunt for it, though.Hope this helps before you get frustrated.

[Rewarded Review] A modern label maker for everyday use

The Brother P-touch CUBE Plus PT-P710BT Label Maker is a compact and powerful label maker that will make you forget about the way that you use to make labels. As a person that has to label files, boxes and cables every day, having a rechargeable mobile printer is mandatory.Physically, the cube weighs in at under 2 pounds and standing roughly 5 inches tall, the label maker itself was made for mobile use. Or in my case, it was made for use in every area of my office and storage rooms. The overall appearance of the cube is very sleek and modern, unless you actually pick it up you will not notice that it was a label maker. This provides a great aesthetic for office desk. The Cube Plus can be powered by either the provided USB charging cable or by the rechargeable battery that is also provided. If you tend to use your desk, I find it better to leave it connected and charging throughout the day. I found myself using the printer in more remote areas of my office so knowing that the battery is already charged save me from wondering if I remembered to charge it after the last use.Connectivity and multiple ways to print are my favorite features of the Cube Plus. Since the Cube Plus is a bluetooth printer, you can sync it to your phone or tablet and create labels via the iPrint&label and P-Touch Design&Print apps. These two apps are what makes this cube a great printer. Previously I was only able to print text labels but these two apps has a great option to print barcodes and QR codes from their template gallery and it totally changed my filing system in a couple of days. The auto sizing and cutting of the label by the printer made getting these different types of labels made quite easy. The Cube Plus also has an option to print from my computer as well, which is a great option but it wasn`t one that I have taken full advantage off since I prefer to work from my tablet.Overall, the Cube Plus is a great printer but there are a couple of little things that could be worked on. Since this is primarily operating on a rechargeable battery, it would have been great to have some kind of battery power indicator on either the printer or in the app. There were a few situations where I forgot to charge the printer and couldn`t use it until it had a decent charge. Also, the printer did not come with an ac charging adapter, just a charging cable. In this day and age, we all have multiple adapters at home so this isn`t a deal breaker but since i do not plan on using this with my computer often, having an adapter would have been nice. One semi major issue that I had was with a bluetooth connection problem when my tablet or phone would go to sleep or I would get a call. For some reason, the connection between the printer and my phone would break and it would take some time to reconnect. I would either have to restart my device a few times and turn the printer on or off a few times before I was able to get a stable connection again. This didn`t happen often enough where it made me not want to use the printer but it was a noticeable issue. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this printer performed. Coming from using a traditional label maker with a keyboard and tiny screen, having the ability to design label that are more than text makes this a great item for me. Charging the battery is simple, the printer uses the standard media size so I did not have to buy specialty media. Although I may invest in some different color labels to change things up a bit. Overall, I would highly recommend this printer to someone that prints a lot of labels on a regular basis and would like a change from the standard text of older printers.

[Rewarded Review] Great idea, poor execution
8 November 2018

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I consider myself to be a moderately tech savvy person. I can figure out most new technology with no help, or am able to find the resources when I do need help. My first impression of this label maker is that it is large; I couldn`t see myself taking this with me to work or a friends house. The other impression I had was, why is the tape so big? After setting it up, and connecting it to the Bluetooth on my phone, which was simple but would be difficult for someone tech-challenged, I was required to download two apps in order to print a label. I consider myself to be a moderately tech savvy person. I can figure out most new technology with no help, or am able to find the resources when I do need help. After setting it up, and connecting it to the Bluetooth on my phone, which was simple but would be difficult for someone tech-challenged, I was required to download two apps in order to print a label. Again, this limits its mobility, and I often found myself frustrated that I needed to get my phone and the "cube" together in order to print. The app. The app was confusing, I printed several labels that were way too large or way too small. I also couldn`t figure out why it kept cutting a tiny strip off before every print. I felt as if I was wasting tons of tape every time I printed a single label. Once I finally figured out how to turn this feature off, I discovered it prints each label with a large gap at the front but not at the back, meaning I had to hand cut each tape to make it look uniform. There were so many features to the app, but I barely used them because I got confused and frustrated with the lack of intuitiveness. I was able to print several labels for the closet I was reorganizing, however I found the size of the tape to be too large and I had a hard time keeping each label uniform if I stepped away from the app and it reset the defaults. All in all, yes it prints labels, it`s basic function, but I would rather just have the label maker have a keyboard and simplified settings so that I can make sure my labels are thin, uniform, and I`m not wasting tape.

As someone who wasn't sure how I was going to like printing from my phone rather than typing on a physical keyboard...well... I have to say I can't believe I waited so long. This little label maker is wonderful! The apps for the phone definitely have a learning curve, but when you get the perfect label and are able to save it, it's pure joy. The labels come out sharp, the battery life is excellent, it's quick and quiet, and it fits nicely in a small camera bag. They do make cases it specifically, but I live all the pockets a camera bag offers. I have not had any jams. The machine recognized which tape I have in it and sends that information right to the app. The apps offer many more options for label styles and you can see the label right on your phone before you ... MoreAs someone who wasn't sure how I was going to like printing from my phone rather than typing on a physical keyboard...well... The tape is not cheap but it is durable and has stuck wonderfully to every shelf at work. I work at a car dealership in the parts department and it is a dusty and oily environment. The price of the labels is worth it. This is a great little printer that was worth every penny.
