Pretty much what I expected from YouTube videos and such.I love this one as there's lots of space for fat fingers and the design makes it feel like a fun toy.If you're using batteries, you need decent ones. Don't just get the cheapest AAA batteries.Eveready Super Heavy Duty aren't good enough.I just ordered the 9v AC adaptor because sometimes I'll be using it at my desk anyway. The tape it comes with is 4m and that runs out pretty fast if you're labelling a lot of stuff. The normal length is 8m but double check. There's no actual warning when you reach the end of the label tape. It's maybe 5-10cm of unusable tape.I've never had a good labelling system, so that's maybe why I love this so much. When you turn it off it'll keep whatever you've just ... MorePretty much what I expected from YouTube videos and such.I love this one as there's lots of space for fat fingers and the design makes it feel like a fun toy.If you're using batteries, you need decent ones. Bought this to replace another Brother Label Maker. This one however has a port for an external power supply which the old one did not have. The old one would require new batteries after making only a few labels. Plugged in it’s not as mobile but it doesn’t cost a fortune in batteries.

I bought this printer when I realised that the dozens of plugs I had lying around were not identifiable when plugging them back in for use. I also come to the conclusion I didn’t know what the many always on sockets controlled. This label printer as turned out to be a godsend, sockets, chargers, multiple plugs, are picked up and plugged in in seconds. I don’t know how any household with computers, tablets, phones, page printers plus all the normal kitchen equipment can manage without one of these label printers. All hidden control boxes now labelled. Just get one if you have anything that needs identification.

The lack of power adapter didn't bother me since I was upgrading from another P-touch and using batteries is normal for me. What did bother me what despite setting the options for narrow margins and tabs to save label space and make it last longer, there's still a ridiculous amount of wasted space on the left of every label. P-touch would have you believe it's so it can "feed correctly" but give me a break. I've used the older models and they feed fine and cut correctly. This is deliberately wasted space so they can sell more tape and defeats the point of having a built in cutter because I HAVE TO MANUALLY CUT THE LEFT SIDE OF EVERY LABEL NOW ANYWAY!!
Unit has smaller footprint over the PT-2030 it replaces but is considerably thicker which is a minus for me because I move around while using it. Unit uses AAA batteries, down from the AA batteries in the 2030. Jury is still out on this. Function keys are much improved and fairly intuitive. Alphanumeric display is not as bright as the 2030 even with maximum contrast. Requires well lit room. Fonts use unconventional names. It becomes necessary to pick one you like instead of a font you're familiar with. I still gave it 4 stars because it gets the job done, increased functionality and more intuitive operation over the PT-2030. DON'T throw away the instruction sheet!
Bought this PT-D210 3 years ago. Did not have much use for it until I started to organize my SD cards. Wanted to number them with large number but all I get are numbers to small to read. Tried to change the font size but the insruction in the manual DO NOT WORK. Tried YouTube. The instructions there are by a young lady that goes way too fast, assumes too much and doesn’t know about a remote mic. Geez. All I want to do is make a font bigger. I’m about ready to call my 7 year old grandson to help me.
This is a fairly easy to use (once you learn how it works) machine that creates near-professional quality labels. Fortunately, a small roll of tape is provided with the included tape cartridge so you can explore and practice how the machine works. The Label Maker offers a wide variety of choices with respect to fonts, font sizes and spacing, font style treatments and special characters, as well as label borders, if desired. While the replacement tape cartridges are a bit expensive, they offer an impressive array of printed type and background color combinations. I purchased an optional power converter so as not to burn through batteries, and the Label Maker is working perfectly right out-of-the-box, and this Label Maker is actually fun to use once you get the hang ... MoreThis is a fairly easy to use (once you learn how it works) machine that creates near-professional quality labels. I've been using the D210 now for several months and while it's a decent printer, it seems the settings are designed to waste about 40% of the tape cartridges. I've read the instructions twice and find it very annoying to have to edit the settings every single time I use it. My complaint is that the margins or tabs - I still can't figure which is which - are defaulted to waste an inch of tape before AND after whatever you input is printed. You change the settings to where they're almost acceptable but every time you change the copy the settings once again default to where you waste half of each label when you print it. I get it; you guys want to sell more tape cartridges but it's beyond ridiculous. I almost suggest purchasing a different brand until they either fix ... MoreI've been using the D210 now for several months and while it's a decent printer, it seems the settings are designed to waste about 40% of the tape cartridges. It has lots of technology in it and that is impressive, but some of its implementation just doesn't cut it. For example, the "@" is hidden in a text option instead of, say, a shift/option for the keyboard. By now Brother should join the modern world. Menu key or another key? Someone seems to have forgotten about ease of use.The screen is dim, even with new batteries, and using the contrast control doesn't do much to help. The machine started ending the printout feed so that I would be cutting off the last few letters. A machine reset fixed it, but I have all sorts of P-Touch devices over the years including directly attached to a computer; and this never happened before.I needed 35mm long labels, but I kept getting label length errors. Give a hint how to get it ... MoreIt has lots of technology in it and that is impressive, but some of its implementation just doesn't cut it. Since I am on the road, I got what I could find.
Agree with most other reviews I read before purchase. Easy to use, versatile, makes good-quality labels. First use was to label banks of identical light switches. Switches had more room than backplate for 5/16" label tape, so we'll see how well they last under handling. No trouble removing the lengthwise-split backing that protects the sticky side: maybe if you have no fingernails at all, might be difficult.Main complaint is waste of tape due to wide cutter margins. Label tape is very expensive for this device, so it would be nice if it were designed to get full use out of each cartridge. Also, its price covers many design "options," most so horrendously ugly they'd make nearly-unreadable labels. Some plainer fonts are okay, but most add-ons look like a bored ... MoreAgree with most other reviews I read before purchase. Easy to use, versatile, makes good-quality labels. Instead, how about using that memory for useful symbols from medical, building, and other trades? I had to trim my switch labels to fit, so used leftover tape to mark switch-controlled outlets. My felt-marker version of the "switch" electrical symbol sure doesn't look as good as the labels do!
