It is brand new as advertised, works well so far, I like it.....Great colors, well deisgned, like having one chord to use instead of multiple chords like some machines need. I would recommend buying this machine from Walmart. Good price, fast shipment, well packaged.

This is my third Brother sewing machine. I was very pleased with my first two. This one has entirely too much plastic in the bobbin assembly. The bobbin rattles when sewing. The auto threading feature is difficult to use and doesn’t look like it will last long. I was very disappointed with the cheap construction and this will be my last Brother.

I absolutely loved this machine at first, until i began to top stitch with it. The bobbin seized with oodles of thread bunched under the material and now it wouldn't work. It was the first day I used it!! I returned it to the store the next day. I bought it for $129, went to order a new one and they were $200. Very disappointed.

Ive already gone threw two of these withing a two month span. Im not sure if their sending these put refurbished. It works great for a week or two, and then all the sudden itll seize up. My second one I did my best to blow out and keep any dust from my fabric cleaned up as well as I could. It still seized up, when talking to BROTHER support they reccomended a different model and that the material I was working with was just not a good fit for this machine. I mostly work with flannel and minky, so I do agree it has way more fly away and fuzz then othwr materials. I had a LX2763 model that lasted for 3 years with the same type of material so this situation had been frustrating but I also completelt understand that not all machines are made the same. But when i picked it up, I was amazed, it really is light weight, and after the first stitch, I immediately fell in love with this machine. Lightweight, simple to use, easy threading and bobbin winding, extremely quick setup, easy to maintain, and all sorts of amazing stitches to chose from! Ive been sewing pillows with it and I made one for my sister with her name on it and she loves it. I do love the LED work light, and the blade around the left side makes a lot easier trimming the thread, the controls are easy to use, no messing around with it it sewed perfectly brand new without even touching the adjustments. And it says it is jam resistant and It actually is, it has only jammed once but thats because my beginner cousin didnt know how to use it yet. It arrived unscathed and documentation is good. I didnt view the dvd because I dont have a DVD player, but I didnt need the dvd cuz the one directions are very thorough. Am I ever delighted that I chose this machine. Its so smooth, quiet,and easy to thread both top and bobbin that I ALMOST enjoy sewing. I would buy this machine again and have recommended it to several friends who are also having problems with their old machines. Awesome produce, arrived earlier than expected in absolutely great shape. Only suggestion is to post the dvd online for those of us who dont have ... It continuously gets bogged down with lint from the thread and fabric. When this happens it fails to sew correctly and I have to use compressed air to blow it all out of there.Also, I'll be sewing along doing just fine on a zigzag stitch and from out of nowhere, in the middle of a line of stitching it decides to do a straight stitch. If I could go buy a different machine today I would smash this one with my hammer. Will I ever purchase another Brother machine? Probably not.
This machine is solid. I wanted a machine that did not have an electronic board--the thing that died and was not fixable on my last machine. I find it easy to thread and it has excellent stitching. 27 different stitches is more than I would ever need. I appreciate the number of feet it came with. I use thread cones that are fed from a cone feeder placed next to the machine. That works great!I love the thread cutter which is located flat in front--no cutting your finger while feeling for the cutter at the back of the needle shaft like most machines.I like the compact paper manual, but wished it had a thicker cover. I love how there are pictures printed right on the machine to teach/remind how to: fill the bobbin/thread the machine. Although its slightly different ... MoreThis machine is solid. This is my first sewing machine and after much research I settled on this Brother XM2701 as it has many reviews as the Best first machine! It came in one day, packaged very well. Everything was there including all the accessories. The setup and first use guides are very good I also used several Youtube's to help me! It has an automatic needle threader device. easy to use! The bobbin also is super easy as it automatically picks up the lower thread when you start sewing! A super nice sewing machine! I love it.
I loved everything about this little machine. It is a smaller machine than what I am used to, but it sews like a dream. The stitches were even, the tension never messed up unless I needed to change the needle and it had several extra's such as the thread cutter and many different stitch patterns for a basic machine. I am giving it to my granddaughter for a starter machine and then I am purchasing another one for my RV. Great buy!
