The brick is made up of a lot of coco fibre and not a lot of coco pith, making the expanded "coir" less fluffy and rendering it unusable as a replacement for peat moss. Additionally, the coir has a very high EC (electrical conductivity - measure of soluble salt in the coir). Using the 1:1.5 extraction method, I get EC measurements from two different bricks of 1700-1800 uS/cm in the leachate, or 1300-1500 uS/cm if I measure the slurry directly. Both of these factors combine to make this unusable as a soil amendment or replacement for peat moss; it might be fine for use in animal tanks etc but needs more processing/washing to be used for plants.

This product is well worth the money and will buy again
My favourite coir block - clean even coir, makes a handy workable mix and has no fertilizer added to it.If you are making a soil for ferns, orchids and other delicate plants, then you don't want or need added fertilizers with unknown quantities or types added. Also if you want to add to worm farms, then again no fertilizer wanted.I just add the coir block into a 40L collapsible bucket with the required water and forget about it for a while - 20 minutes or so - come back when you are ready and its done.Heads up: in winter add warm water and the block will dissolve better.
Always provide excellent coverage for your garden beds.
I use this for my worm farm - when things get a little too ... moist. They love it. I love it. We all love it.
I mix 2to 3 pks with coir feed and mulch for improved mulch and mixing with soil.
This stuff is a godsend to reptile keepers. It's basically kritter krumble which I use for snakes, skinks, amphibians and crabs no problems at a fraction of the price. Just make sure go get the blue version as the other has fertilizer. I just dispose of it in the garden for soil retention or seedlings.
I fid this stuff great for using at the base of large pots and for bulking up sandy soil. IOt holds moisture brilliantly
