A cool watch with lots of presence

This is a cool watch for all the known reasons including the story. The quality of materials and dial detail are good for the price point. A big talking point is the size. I do have a fairly small wrist of about 6.75" and it does look big. Some would say it's too big for me, some won't. I would say that if your wrist is 7" or bigger, it'll look good. If it's down to 6.5" it might be hard to pull off without looking too big. But it DOES look smaller than the 45mm case size would suggest.

Nice watch. Not as big as I thought. Downside. I have the bracelet version. The lug pins are so close to the case that only the thinnest of watch straps will fit this. If you are not interested in the bracelet do not buy this model. Unbelievable that Bulova has the lug pin holes in different location for bracelet and strap.

Excellent watch. Comfortable, sapphire glass, sand blasted finish on case and strap. Which I prefer as high polished finish always develops swirl scratches. Sturdy build good weight and one of the most accurate quartz watches around. I can't fault this watch. Also for the price your getting a hell of a great watch for the money

Bulova's modern tribute to the famous moon watch
23 June 2017

This Bulova is a modern tribute to the original custom Bulova watch worn unoficially the Apollo 15 mission. Notably, of the watches worn on the mission, only the Bulova kept working. Much of the original styling has been maintained. This watch makes a bold styling statement without being needlessly ostentatious. It is a fairly large watch which looks best on a larger wrist. This watch uses a quartz crystal regulated movement instead of the original tuning fork system. Old school purists might not like the change to an electronic oscillator, but the result is an astonishingly accurate time keeper with reasonable battery life. This watch will likely stay accurate to within one second per month -- without needing to receive any radio or GPS signals.

Awesome watch. Contrary to what you may read elsewhere, you can fit 3rd party straps to the bracelet version, even with it's drilled lugs being different than the strap version. I've put mind on a silicone strap and a nato and it goes great on both. Bracelet is very high quality as well with no rattles or squeaks. 8 inch (203mm) wrist.

The other moon watch as it is known. This reissue is 3mm larger than the Apollo 15, 1971, Cmdr Scott original of 42mm. The original cased the "Universal Swiss" 7730 movement acquired by Bulova instruments USA. This is a respectable reinturpretation with the 262 kHz "Citizen Japan" precise quartz movement with altered subdials. Its bold on my 7. 5 inch wrist but is conservative and authentic which excuses it amongst the watch specialists. The bracelet is good, not great with sharp a edged undercut but passable. Spring bar placement being close to the case will only accommodate thin (leather / nylon) bands if you want a change out, curved 1.8mm spring bars will suit the design better. To sum up its got NASA pedigree and is value for $600, well done to Starbuy ... MoreThe other moon watch as it is known. Bulova Lunar Pilot 96B258, I purchased this lovely timepiece during the 19.1.23 and the shipping is very good with for me it’s been next day delivery for all of the several watches Ive brought from Starbuy. Not to mention how lovely they all are at Starbuy. This Bulova Lunar Pilot 96B258 is genuinely a great piece with amazing history. The fit & finish is also very good and it’s truly a great conversationist or conversation starter. With its moon history. Another great piece from an even better company with fantastic staff. Very happy & I highly recommend these people in every way possible. Can’t speak more highly of STARBUY.com, Thank You again.

Review for the 96B258 edition. Iconic homage to an iconic watch by an iconic watch brand. Improves on the original!

It's actually a BETTER timepiece than Dave Scott's Bulova backup watch, which was worn on the Moon during an Apollo 15 EVA. (Scott's Omega Spudmaster's crystal is alleged to have fallen out. But seriously, I don't think anybody thinks that's typical for a Speedmaster owner experience.) Of course, it's the "having been on the Moon" part that ratchet's Scott's watch into the $1.6M auction range. This watch is produced in sufficient numbers (and hasn't been on the Moon so that means) that it will never be seven digits "collectible". But that doesn't mean it won't be VALUABLE. It is easily one of the MOST accurate (262.144Khz Quartz Precisionist movement) watches EVER made. Some sources conservatively claim it's within 10 seconds a year. Other sources have put it closer to FIVE, which puts it up in the figurative "thin air" of any timepiece's legacy in terms of accuracy. When the numbers of "units of measurement" begin to get that small, things like your environment or even wearing the silly thing will influence that statistic. At that point, your recalibrating it will have to do more with your own OCD than the watch. (Hi, my name's Megachops.) Own it, enjoy it, and pass it along to someone you love. It's what your Dad did with HIS Bulovas wasn't it?

Stylish piece of History
12 May 2018

If I had to use only one word to describe this watch it would have to be historical. When I wear it I feel like I'm part of history. It is a good size watch, at 45mm x 13mm thick it wears great. I have an 8 1/2 inch wrist and it's perfect. Everything about it is awesome. Style is definitley spot on aviation, with perfect balance dial it isn't to busy or cluttered. It is a Quartz, but this one is so accurate it is unbelieveable. The stainless steel bracelet is solid and well made. But I prefer it on a NATO strap. You will get many compliments with this watch. And of course it's a Bulova.

Well made watch but the bracelet is less so
9 May 2018

I love the watch, it's very well made and a faithful copy of the 'other' moon watch (other than the movement but that's to be expected since the original had a 'borrowed' Universal Geneve hand winding movement). Despite its size it is very comfortable on the wrist and really doesn't look as big as it is. What prevented me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that, while this watch is available with a stainless steel bracelet as well as a leather strap and a NATO strap with a commemorative patch on it, the bracelet and the straps cannot be interchanged. The holes for the spring bars are in different positions in the watch case for the bracelet than for the straps (I think this may be because Bulova used an 'off the shelf' bracelet. So, if you decide to buy this, make sure you decide what you want, bracelet or straps since you won't be able to buy a strap watch and then later get a bracelet or, for that matter get a bracelet one and then buy the commemorative strap, the strap is too thick and will not fit (guess how I found that out ).
