Quite normal, albeit a little dry, profile. It didn't strike me as having any especially intriguing or distinctive tones, in my opinion. After this, I'm excited to try the traditional Bumbu because I've heard from many other rum drinkers that they prefer it. The XO will make good mixing material even though it is mid-priced more expensive.

The more I age, the more I realize how much I like drinking dark rum straight up. Along with my other fave, which I previously reviewed, Bumbu fits that description rather beautifully. It is tasty and smooth without being overpowering. One of my favorites is this!

What is this garbage? How does it have positive reviews. I picked up the xo and original for twenty dollars each on clearance at a local supermarket... I'm not sure it's even worth that. It's just ok. It tastes very superficial when sipped. I hope it's better in mixed drinks. However, the strong coffee notes make me wonder how it could possibly work out. I'm not a coffee drinker though. It's artificially sweet as well. Is it better than Mt. Gay or Bacardi? Yes. Not worth $40 though. Get yourself some Flore de Can 12. Far superior in this category, along with many others. Get something by Foursquare if you can spend $50.

Brookie's Mac Liqueur is fantastic either on its own or over ice-cream. Secret Bottle delivered it quickly, well packaged and at a great price. All round a fantastic transaction.

I am reviewing this product as I received a free sample from Ocado. This rum smells of toffee and vanilla with a woodiness to it. The taste reminds me of Christmas, it's spicy like a Christmas pudding with a hint of orange. It has a smoothness to it. I tried it straight and mixed in a cocktails and both tasted wonderful. It comes in a lovely bottle and would make a great present at Christmas or any other time, or of course a treat for yourself!
When I had this I was pretty skeptical based on the bottle (I know, don’t judge a book...). Anyway. The blacked out bottle is always a weird warning, because I want to see the color of the spirit. The gimmicky brands always have opaque bottles. Anyway. It wasn’t bad. Needed a touch of citrus, but could be used well in a simple cocktail.
This came highly recommended by some with more experience with spirits as a superb rum. I was met with one and only one flavor to the end of the bottle-green apples. If that is a preferred flavor of yours, you'll love it but it missed much opportunity to me. Perhaps provenance was at play. I found adding some heavily toasted oak spiral pieces added the needed complexity and spice missing. Would never recommend this rum. Also seemed sweetened.
I was sent a free sample of this product by Ocado to review. Firstly, the bottle is absolutely gorgeous. Reading other reviews I decided to try the rum without a mixer. So gald I did. Very smooth and warming to sip and relax with. I have also made an Irish coffee which was so good and really allowed me to compare the quality of this rum with other rums (I've never drunk rum neat before so could not compare). Real depth of flavour and richness that went so well with the coffee flavour. Highly recommended.
I was sent this to review - wow - thank you Ocado - it is amazing! My current rum is a Gold rum from Paraguay and this is in a completely different league. As someone has said - it has Christmas cake flavours and compared to other rums, it is is like a Christmas cake compared to a Victoria sponge! It is to rum as Macallan 25 yo is to whisky and Felipe Luis distillation is to Spanish Brandy. It is rich, smooth, full of flavours - an excellent drink - PLEASE DO NOT ADD A MIXER!
