Burberry Trench Coats Beige - UK 6

My Burberry trench coat is clearly the iconic symbol of both the company AND my wardrobe—which beautiful coat we paid around $275 on Regent Street. In 1975 my husband and I were traveling cheaply, ie, Rome to Tillsbuty on a youth-ladened bus for $50 each. Sleeping on a distant cousin’s floor, we took in the museums and revelled in London’s sights and streets! To this day I cannot believe we made the choice to buy me what, for us, was SO expensive a purchase! Twenty years later our daughter took it with her when she left for college, returning it home when she became first a mountain guide and, next, an oceanographer. All to say, that amazing Burberry now keeps me warm and dry here in southern Vermont!!! Thank you, Saks, for selling these remarkable coats!

I’m one of the lone voices in not loving this coat. At 5’4”, 125lbs, the sleeves were too long, but the shoulders a bit tight. The fabric was thinner than I had expected, and wrinkled easily. Frankly, my trusty London Fog trench looks and feels better. Returned.

The jacket is beautifully made, however, if you are petite and even a bit bulky or thick-especially in the shoulder/chest area, approach with caution. I am 5'2", 125 lb. I purchased the size 4. The body fit's perfectly, but the shoulder and underarm area is very tight when I cross my arms across my chest. Also, I had to hem the sleeves, because the sleeves came down to my knuckles--and who wants to hem a Burberry. I certainly cannot wear it with a sweater underneath, but who cares, I'll be wearing it open all the time to show off the interior-classic Burberry.
