Bike use: So far so good! My husband and I have had our burley d-lite x for a couple of months and overall we are very happy with the design. First I must state that we immediately went to the 16â off-road tires. Our first use was on a flat paved trail. Our biggest concern is safety and I must say I was a little worried about the way the flex connector works. Once I tried it, I can completely lay my bike down with no rotating force on the burley. This immediately calmed my fears (so much so that the ball-style attachment that I ordered is still in its packaging.) The thru-axle mount seems very sturdy and the safety strap just adds confidence. I love how the front hooks in with the yellow clips! I do not like that the plastic rain cover (wind shield) does not end up ... MoreBike use: So far so good! I went into this thinking, âwe already have a very nice strollerâ. But after trying this unit in grass. I was in love with this as a stroller. But! This is not without one downside that I feel could use a huge improvement. The handle tightens using a plastic gearâtooth design. From the factory, this handle wonât latch tight enough to stay fixed. I think this mechanism needs to be upgraded in the dlite x v2

We are very happy with our D'Lite X Double. We use it for biking, jogging, and XC Skiing. Size is very nice and seems comfortable for our 3-year-old and 1-year-old daughters. We have taken them XC Skiing in below OF temps and they stay warm inside. We also have a D'Lite X Single (purchased a few years ago) and I wish we would have purchased the double size to begin with. The double is not that much larger than the single, but is now obviously needed for the 2 kids.We have lots of different products currently (Bob Alterrain, Thule Urban Glide, Wonderfold W2 Luxe). This definitely fills in the needed niche for cycling and winter activities. I think I enjoy jogging with the Bob or the Thule more. I got one through "Robert Axle Project" that worked perfectly.I do wish the front plastic screen could be pulled tighter/was more sleek looking. I definitely prefer the look of the Thule Chariot, but we went with the Double Burley D'Lite X since we already had the XC Ski attachment from our prior single Burley D'Lite X.

I bought this trailer a few weeks ago and have been using it regularly with my 19 month old daughter. She is absolutely thrilled to go on bike rides in the park and stopping at the playground. I ride a gravel bike with a thru axel and disc brakes and setting up the hitch was very simple. The trailer is super easy to break down and put in my trunk and set up once we get to the park. My daughter stop at the playground after our rides and we can easily disconnect the bike and go right to a stroller without making any changes. I had bought a dedicated jogging stroller last year and I truly wish I would have just bought this from the beginning with the versatility to go from trailer, stroller, jogger with a few attachments. This is really an all you can do outdoor ... MoreI bought this trailer a few weeks ago and have been using it regularly with my 19 month old daughter. Get outside with your kids and show them how great the outdoors can be.

We collapse our trailer for car transport everytime we use it. When you go to open it and squeeze the frame tubes together, its very difficult and takes a ton of force to get the tubes to latch. Multiple times we've needed two adults to pull the frame tubes at the same time to latch it. We bought our trailer over 1 year ago and just figured it was so tight because it was new and would break in, however that was not true - it's still tight. I cannot assemble the trailer myself and my husband also struggles. This is not a great user experience. Otherwise we love it, even used it skiing on a few inches of ungroomed trails the other day and it did great!
Absolutely love our Dâlite burley. Little bubs canât quite sit up alone so we bought the extra sitting cushions, they really made a difference in support for our 5 month old. We only have one baby but am planning on another in a couple years so we got the two seater. I thought it might be a little heavy as a stroller but I can maneuver it up a couple stairs to get off the front deck just fine and I can load it in to the back of the truck without help from my husband. We havenât hooked it up to a bike just yet, we will probably attach the ski gear for some snowshoeing first because winter is almost here. We have used it as a stroller most but look forward to its versatility. I almost got the cub I think it was, but decided against it since the cub isnât âhikeâ compatible. ie the cub wasnât compatible with the 16 inch wheels. For the trails we plan on going I thought it would probably be best to be able to use the 16 inch wheels. The Dâlite doesnât have the hard plastic bottom like the cub, but instead is a little lighter by like 9lbs and is compatible with the hiking wheels. It can be a bit of an investment upfront but it was totally worth it being able to get out in any season with the bubs and have the space to pack the âjust in case extrasâ to help make outings easier!
Great trailer overall - really excited to put it to the true test. We just got it and assembled so have not put it through it's paces for a long term review yet. First impressions - great quality, the blue color is even nicer in person than in pictures. Addressing common negative review points 1. recline on seats not being enough, this doesn't seem like an issue to us - if it were to recline like a lazy boy, the trailer would have to be longer and who wants to make this thing any bigger than it is? 2. The recline making the storage useless - again I don't agree - even in full recline, there's plenty of space in my opinion. 3. The handlebar mechanism not able to hold up to weighting to lift front wheel over curbs etc in stroller mode - Definitely true. The recline making the storage useless - again I don't agree - even in full recline, there's plenty of space in my opinion. 3. The handlebar mechanism not able to hold up to weighting to lift front wheel over curbs etc in stroller mode - Definitely true. However, if you pop the cover off the opposite side of the handlebar (not the side with the yellow lock), and squeeze the bars together, you can get clearance to tighten the screw enough so that the handle up holds up to weight. This is a Burley assembly and quality control issue in my opinion - if you pay $900 for this, the handlebar should come tightened to the correct torque to hold up to general use. We didn't even have anything in the trailer when we tested the handlebar issue and it ratched back with just slight pressure of the empty trailer. If you were to do this multiple times, the plastic teeth mechanism that locks it in place would wear and you'd be SOL on an $900 trailer. Lastly, assembly taking the hand of God to clip the bars in place - definitely was difficult, but not nearly as difficult as expected based on reviews. We found the best technique was to go at it from the back of the trailer thumbs down for leverage under the bar and lift in to each side of the yellow clips.Overall, good design and quality, with the really only downside being the handlebar assembly, but can easily be remedied by Burley to ensure it is tightened properly to hold up
I have bought this model because of the passenger comfort reviews and the head rest included. I was evaluating and testing Thule Cross but bought Burley online as there was no test facility in my area. I regret. It is so hot inside. The side windows are not vented at all. Why not use a net like Thule? Wish I could tested it before the purchase.
This is a very nice bike trailer, we take lots of bike rides that are too far for our younger children to endure. So this is great for our oldest who is very tall for his age. It seems to be well built so far, as weâve had it out about 4 times. This would be a 5 out of 5 if it werenât for the bike connection joint. We have one from another brand that has a much easier ball hitch set up. Itâs not bad to use, mostly easy, but takes a little bit of aligning to get the pin through. If we hadnât had the other one, Iâd probably have no complaints on this connection, but knowing the other one exists makes this one a bit annoying. I donât need all the stroller components, so if they offered it cheaper without that, I would have bought that version.
I love how easy this converts to a stroller after a bike ride. The extra elbow roOk and removable foot mat is fantastic. The UV protection on the windows is another big favorite and I love the open mesh in the back window to allow more air flow. This rides so so smooth. My only issue is Iâm not a fan of the middle bar as it cuts cargo space down a lot and the recline isnât as reclined as Thule is. I would not put a baby under 6 months in this, because even in the deepest recline itâs very upright. Please make an actually reclined baby hammock like Thule so we can use the stroller function earlier!
Recently purchased a new DâLite X single. I just moved to Chicago from Eugene, OR, so a Thule was not an option. I was planning on buying a used bike trailer, so that I might take my 16 m.o. granddaughter for rides along Lake Shore Driveâs famous bike path. I couldnât find a reasonably priced used one in Eugene or Chicagoland, as people donât want to sell them or they repurpose them. Although on that first trip my granddaughter was initially unhappy about a bike helmet, she spent the next hour in rapt awe as we made our way through the fascinating cacophony that is Chicago bike paths on the weekend. (So different from the rural hills and Willamette River pathways of Eugene.) I was very pleased with the suspension system â this will be very helpful when we venture into the pot-hole filled streets of the town. I like the idea of using recycled material, although like with Patagonia, the reality is a hard one to prove. I was reluctant to spend what seems to be an inordinate amount of money, but the quality of the seat alone made the deal. Having watched the price of baby seats go through the roof [sic], Burley could reasonably charge even more. Attaching the steel hitch to an older Trek Madone was trivial; a newer Trek Checkpoint did require a longer skewer, but determining the size was straightforward. I was very surprised how little I noticed pulling the trailer with either bike; as my granddaughter grows, that may change. When it does, itâll be time for a ride-along, with the DâLite transitioning to a travel trailer. With 4 panniers, a handlebar and rear rack bag, the 75+ pounds the trailer could carry means that a full solar array, a microwave, two fly fishing rigs, and a Stellarvue refractor can come along on the bike packing trip. [Just kidding.] I have a garage, so storage is not a real problem. Collapsing the trailer for transport looks reasonable. [Unfortunately, this review was NOT sponsored by a promotion. If Burley would like to send me a corporate swag kit, I may have to accept. đ]
