Burton Ion Boa Mens Snowboard Boots - Black

The design/fit is fantastic, but this is the worst quality booth I have ever experienced, After just one single season, they are completely falling apart. Not just worn in one spot, seams splitting and inner booth just dissolving. In my 25 years of snowboarding, never experienced anything this poor, If you plan on using them more than 10 days total AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Got these yesterday and took them out in my local snow park in UK.What can I say, I never like Burton boots before as I have quite short legs and they usually come quite high up, I was a fan of other brands. Needless to say the comfort of these is out of this world, and the dual Focus BOA makes getting in an out of these a doddle. They are mid stiff, but that just means your ankles are supported, great if you are an older rider with glass ankles like me. Greetings all, I'm Big Red with the Sandia Peak Ski Patrol. I spend at least 2 days a week wearing my boots for the patrol up to 10 hours a day. Comfort is my primary need and these Ion boots deliver and then some.My day starts a sunrise with a 20-minute commute to the ski area. I wear my boots to drive there why not right? The first thing I noticed are the boa system. They are spring under tension so when loosened they keep the cable snug making driving to the area easy. The only issue I had was the flex when braking. I'll get to the flex later during my ride.Comfort:I'm a pretty large guy (6'5") with big feet (13 wide) The toe box is extremely generous. I was very pleased to see that Butron includes footbed insoles in the liner. After 20 hours of wearing the boots my feet do not hurt at the end of the day. Big PLUS! As a bonus I found the Ion to be very lightweight.Traction:The sole was sufficient however since I have to walk on snow a lot a meatier lug sole would have been nice but walking up slope to set fencing and signs was not a problem.Riding:So far I've only been on my Burton Supermodel 74, a very long camber board. What I noticed most about the Ion was in toeside carving. The Ion has an almost built in shock absorber with its ability to flex across choppy snow and keeps the edge in constant contact with the snow. I found toeside riding to be almost effortless with the ability to drive my toes hard and the boot responds by giving you more edge as it pops and drives the board in the snow. Heel carves seemed standard however the ankle lock in the liner gave the Ion an advantage over my old boots.Con:I would have like to see some extra protection while on the chairlift. There is no edge flap to rest my board on while in flight. This concerns me a little because of durability. I may have to give an update on how well they hold up during the season.
