I got these bindings after avoiding for decades any step-in and quick in/out system for fear of how they'll work and what the reliability of them would be. 9 days on these and I am already regretting getting them. The "hammock" on the highback is held on with a flimsy rivet that after a few days on the mountain busted leaving it to flop around and fall out. I contacted Burton support assuming they'd fix it under warranty and the response was they've "seen an uptick in issues with the rivet in the highbacks" but said no replacements were available and recommended I just go to a shop to get it somehow re-riveted.I'm a fan of the form factor and the responsiveness of the binding, and loved them up until they broke. Now my biggest fear is setting in that I dropped cash on a product that won't hold up like my previous Ride bindings did (still going strong 13 years later). Makes me worried about the other wear parts on the binding like the actual latches in the heel/toe.Until they get a better form factor I'd avoid these and maybe even hold off on the Step Ons till Burton can get some more reliable products on the market.

They’re beyond impressive. Heard mixed reviews prior to purchase about boot fit and responsiveness. They’re more responsive than regular bindings. Obvi easy to click in n quick. I’ve used the, on approximately 10 trips so it’s a in depth review. Of he bindings and boots. Use DC boots for the comfort and stiffness. I used the DC step on boots and don’t regret the change. It’ll give you the best performance, comfort, and responsiveness with the step one. Makes me curious to see how the low backs compare to these already Impressive bindings. You’ll be down the mountain while others are still binding up.

I order the Burton step on boots and binding for my snowboard. I wear size 9 with my regular Burton snowboard boots. One of my friend recommended me to do half size up base on his experience. So I ordered based on his recommendation. After receiving the boot and tried them out, I find it is too big. The return process from altitude sport for the boot is very efficient. I am very impressed. After switching to my normal boot size, Burton step on binding and boot combo works flawlessly. They feel just like regular binding. Putting them on is super quick. Highly recommended products from Burton.

This is probably a review of the overall step on system but .... (6 days riding on these so far) Ive been in strap bindings for decades, this was my first ever step on set up (i got the Burton Ions to go with these bindings and they're mounted on my burton free thinker) The system works perfect! I've used them in the recent Hotham pow day, icy groomers and some jib laps. I don't feel insecure at all. Its also made my over all set up noticeably lighter. Getting in and out of them is easy and smooth, getting out i found harder but u get the hang of it after a few runs.Theres only two things i personally don't like.1: I like to adjust my high back angle so that it runs parallel with my heel edge, this can not be achieved with the step on system due to the heel lock ... MoreThis is probably a review of the overall step on system but .... Im hoping once the boots pack out a bit this will resolve its self.
I've gotten over 50 days now with these bindings and I can't say one bad thing about them! Clicking in and out is extremely easy. The bindings feel even more responsive than any other pair of bindings i've ever ridden. Your toes being connected directly to the bindings add a different level of response, something extremely fast and reactive to your movements. No straps mean no play or give. Powder days have become easier now! There hasn't been a time even with a 18 inch pow day that these bindings haven't been a breeze to step into. Countless of crashes in the park and the steeps and not once have I felt unsafe or close to popping out. Overall if you're looking for a pair of bindings that will work exactly as well as your previous pair with the added convenience of ... MoreI've gotten over 50 days now with these bindings and I can't say one bad thing about them! REI delivered this product smoothly, solid as always.By now, I have a a few days on this bindings and the ION boots (both purchased from REI). I have to be fair that I am still learning to get on and off the bindings. Although, I don't think I will be able to just jump on and hop off the bindings!Stepping into the bindings are easy, ONLY on a flat ground. The truth is, there is not that many flat spots on the mountain, so you have to be creative to create/find a level enough spot to complete the step-in action. This can be challenging on a double-black hill. So my advise is that: don't ever fall :)Burton brags about how EASY is it to step in. BUT it's NOT easy to step out!! After pulling the lever you better lift up your heel cleanly to disengage, then twist your foot to get out... If this whole action is not done clearly, you foot can get stuck in the binding and it becomes frustrating difficult to get off. Perhaps I still need to learn more.Step-ins can be easier to get in (Although usually not much faster than skiers); but it's much more awkward to get out from. This fact alone makes it extremely useless. Not to mention the high price tags and limited options.All-in-all, I will just using this bindings and boots. Perhaps they will earn my heart over time. We will see.
I'm in my 35th season of snowboarding and have ridden all sorts of bindings. I started out many years ago and learned in hard shells with plate bindings. Most of my friends were riding with straps and I found it clumsy and a waste of time even back then. Every time I used bindings with straps it felt uncomfortable and clumsy to me. When the Switch autolock system came out I switched to them and rode that way for a good 25 years. I've always loved the simple step in and go and loved the simplicity of the Switch system. I've finally worn out all the boots I've been able to buy over the years and since there's nothing made anymore had to upgrade to a newer system. I choose the Burton system after looking at what is out there and am totally pleased with that decision. ... MoreI'm in my 35th season of snowboarding and have ridden all sorts of bindings. I choose the Burton system after looking at what is out there and am totally pleased with that decision. I've ridden on groomers, pow, crud and everything in between and love this setup (sorry not a park guy). I paired these bindings with the Nitro compatible boot and love how comfortable the setup is. The edge to edge control is fantastic and you really do feel locked into the board with how this step in is setup. I'm now 71 years old and have no issues getting into the bindings anywhere on the mountain, the step in is super simple and easy. Getting out is a little trickier but once you do it a few times, not a big deal. I've got nothing but good vibes from this setup and it makes it super easy for me to go enjoy the sport I still love. Highly recommend these bindings!
These bindings were an upgrade on the original Step-On bindings that I've been riding for three years now. The changes are incremental and subtle but nevertheless noticeable. The footbed seems slightly stiffer over my previous bindings and the highback slightly more flexible which is the perfect combination for me. Heel side turns feel totally locked in. This season on the Genesis bindings I have been experimenting with more forward lean as well and now the toe side turn initiation feels as precise as the heel side and I'm absolutely LOVING IT.One final note. I really love the pale gray-blue color of this seasons Genesis bindings. It harmonizes perfectly with my Never Summer Harpoon board and slate gray bib pants. I get a LOT of compliments on it. Where to start... Basically i've been eyeballing the step on system for the last three years and finally decided to pull the trigger. It's definitely obnoxious that you have to buy new boots AND bindings once you decide to invest in the setup, but it definitely feels like something i hope i never have to step away from in the future. I live in the midwest where the snowboarding resorts are considered mid by most that ski and board out west, but i think that's where these really shine. From stepping off the lift to getting back on, the average ride is probably less than 5 minutes. Riders are probably getting onto and off of the lift 5 times more at these little midwest "mountains" than they are at places like, vale or park city where you actually have a real mountain ... MoreWhere to start... I have watched countless vids on the pros and cons of the step on system. I went into this purchase thinking the learning curve to stepping in was going to be fairly steep, but it turned out ot be very simple and intuitive. Stepping in is incredibly simple, although getting that second click which means your boot is 100% seated can be tough at times. Stepping out of the bindings are where i had some trouble and ultimately i've determined that being on a flat, stable surface is far more important when attempting to dismount the binding.Overall build quality is fantastic. The highback clicks into the toe bindings and the entire system stores much flatter than traditional bindings. These things look so nice as well and feel solid.I've only used them once so far, so if I have any trouble with them in the future, i'll try to update this review if that's an option.
Your packaging is very good, I fell in love with itI’ve been through 3 different Step Ons from version 1.0 to the much improved current version 2.0 toe hooks. I can confirm Version 1.0 had the annoying clicking sound and the toe clips did have some wear issues but by no means ever failed on me. I contacted Burton on the toe hook wear concern and their customer support has been all but exceptional. They mailed me 2 sets of toe hook replacements that arrived within the week after a quick online chat.I got the new Reflex with 2.0 toe hooks and these are a huge improvement with the clicking sound now gone and mounting onto them is much easier. I quickly got the Genesis step ons last season and I LOVE it.
