I picked these up last year and wanted to get some real time before writing a review. I now have about 30 days on the mountain so feel like I can provide a thorough evaluation.Long story short, the narrative that these are only about convenience is wrong. While the convenience is game changing (more on that later) the performance is equally amazing. I like responsive bindings and these are the most responsive I've ever ridden. Heel/toe transitions are instantaneous; the extra control is immediately noticeable. They are more comfortable too as you lose the pinch points of straps. I've ridden these in technical, powder, and steeps and never had an issue.Back to convenience- it actually transforms what you can ride. With a little practice you can step in coming off ... MoreI picked these up last year and wanted to get some real time before writing a review. With a little practice you can step in coming off the lift and just ride away. But the biggest change is that flat spots are no longer an issue. I can pop out my back foot while still gliding, pump like on a skateboard, then step back in with no need to stop. I've also found they are fine in powder- if needed you can step into these while sitting- just hold the center of the board to clip your front foot in, then twist with your front foot to create the resistance for your back foot. There are a couple trade-offs. Boot options are still limited. To me the biggest negative is that you lose some in step-in ease as you add more forward lean, which I like for carving. The other is if you have multiple boards (I have a small quiver) you will have to convert everything which is pricey up front, but if you are just building a quiver each new binding is much cheaper than a traditional strap binding. I also find getting out is harder than getting in, as you either need to be on a flat or have your toes facing the hill.Overall- I think these are the future. While there is a lot of uneducated commentary out there step-ons are definitely for serious riders, and once you invest the time to learn them you'll never want to go back.

Been waiting 25 years for step on bindings with suspension, so these are much much better than straps. Though can be difficult to take off at times. They still hold my feet as well as step-in bindings do, though not sure whether that would be true for hard / extreme riders. Have taken other riders innovations to heart though, so will probably change the release levers to inside release. Clearly once I learn how to put them on while riding, or exiting the chair, that would make their use so much better. Despite having given Burton a lot of flak for being so tardy with their release, I now give them an accolade for developing them. Thanks.

For the most part, love them. It is very quick and easy when getting off the chair lift. However my one complaint which keeps it from getting 5 stars, they do not have binding discs that fit my riding style. The discs only go up to 36 degrees each way. I ride (pretty sure it's negative numbers but..) 45 and 48 degrees for my front and back feet. Concept of the boot and binding are awesome, but need greater disc angles

Shame on Team Burton. I posted feedback on Burton’s website, where I provided my honest feedback (4 stars was given). Burton filters/controls everything, as such mine was not posted, even after I verified it via my email, as what they asked. I followed up and no answers. I seriously do not think I gave any bias/bad review about this, but very honest opinion. Seems like Burton chose to release the good ones and block out the ones involves the second thoughts. Really?!Here is what I remembered -“ I purchased the flex step on boots and binding, since I was due for a new pair of boots. Binding is super easy, just clip on and go, and I’ve never popped out once. However, it requires a solid surface to click the heel twice. On pow day, it is harder to make the 2nd heel ... MoreShame on Team Burton. I posted feedback on Burton’s website, where I provided my honest feedback (4 stars was given). Binding is super easy, just clip on and go, and I’ve never popped out once. However, it requires a solid surface to click the heel twice. On pow day, it is harder to make the 2nd heel click. Step on boots are surprisingly stiff and hurt my calf and pinky toes for the first 2 times. The Boa lace comes loss too easy and I have to tight the lace after every single run. For a longer run, I often have to stop at the half way to tight up the Boa.I used to have the traditional lace, and this is my first Boa, so not sure if this is the general issue across the board. I personally prefer to have a snug fit on boot.Binding is responsive and I have no problem on green and blue runs. But I found myself struggled making the quicker turns on steeper terrains, such as double blue and black. I once caught my heel edge when I was on my toe side and in the middle of transition to heel side. This has never happened to me before. For me, I have no problem bending down and strap in, and I stand up to do so. Since my body is learned the traditional strap in and muscle memory are used to it. I switched back to straps. I think this would be great for someone who is new, you can learn and grow on step on. Or someone who has issues bending and straps.”To add on, I noticed when I stepped on, and try to turn the board, the back of the binding comes up first (I have it forward lean setting at F4), then the board starts to twist. Maybe that’s the “delay”. Yes, I returned those, and went back to the traditional way. I prefer to have better control over convenience. Burton has great products, but surprised how much filter it involves.
What a great innovation. The time is over with sitting on the snow for closing the bindings. I did not feel any difference to my older binding with straps from the very beginning. It has a direct response and gives a perfect control. And the advantage is significant. After a little practice, I can lock my back foot in the binding immediately after leaving the lift and start riding. Unstrapping is even easier and faster. What a game changer.
I bought these as an anniversary gift for my husband. So my review is really his. He has the DC judge boa boots and often complains that they are too wide for his feet. I would say he wears a regular 9.5 shoe. He has been snow boarding for about 8 years (pretty advanced snowboarder) and I got him a size 10 boot and Medium bindings. They feet him really well with just enough room for his toes. He finds them to be comfortable, a 7 out of 10 in stiffness. The tread is well made and the ankle strap really gives him a secure feeling in the boot. They are really easy to get in and out of. Apparently this type of boot system has come out about 2-3 years ago from Burton and they worked out all the kinks from the previous models. Apparently this type of boot system has come out about 2-3 years ago from Burton and they worked out all the kinks from the previous models. They are a little pricey BUT if you are all about convenience on the mountain and amazing quality than this new boot system is for you. With the current Covid situation and still a little early in the season he hasn't tried them out yet, but very excited to "shred" :)I am a beginner snowboarder and I have a flow bindings. The amount of effort and energy it takes me to strap in and get up on the board is a little annoying. With this new system I can't wait to get my own. Saves a lot of time and energy that you'll need for the mountain itself.
Bindings seemed nice during a quick session. They are definitely lighter weight. The mounting discs are the same old junk that doesn't properly hold them down to the deck. The gloss splatter on matte black colorway is kind of weird. The 2.0 toe hooks didn't feel much different from the original. Not sure the price difference from the standard bindings is worth the slight upgrades.
I had a look at the footage with our warranty department. According to them, this is within the normal range of movement for Step On bindings from last year.As long as the heels are clicked in there should be no problem riding the step on gear. Since this system has no straps the feel will be different and it might need a little getting used to but there will always be a bit of movement with this binding.Sorry, I don't have better news for you.Have a good day,Burton Guide Europe
Step On system is definitely the best non conventional snowboard binding solution. I felt secure and comfortable riding on these. These bindings are very lightweight and relatively easy to install. They look good in general and I think they serve their purpose very well. I really like the fact that they make these in light grey (looks white) as it is the look I always wanted. In hindsight however, I think the black ones may look a little bit more expensive.I have experienced the top 2 complaints on these products which are the clicking noise and a hot zone by the toe clips. However, neither of them were major enough for me to notice. So far I really like these bindings. It took me a couple days to get more proficient at home to step into theme properly. A little difficult to undue back boot when getting in line as the release lever is so far back that when your coming down into line whee as before it was easy on the regular style bindings to release the buckles quickly while in a forward position, with this lever being back you have to position yourself different for the release which can be a challenge on certain slopes when getting in line. i can usually step right in when exiting a chair which is nice but also requires me getting on toe edge to be able to properly weight all the toe clips to make sure I’m in the bindings completely. It is nosiey coming down the slopes you hear a lot of creaking but it doesn’t bother me.
