My lips stay chapped all year long. Going to the beach or out in the cold. I’ve tried a little of everything. I accidentally picked up Burt’s Bee lip balm, had no clue it said ultra conditioning. When I got in the car I got it out of my bag and thought already paid for it might as well use it. It went on smoothly, not greasy or waxy like some lip balms. I’ll start by saying I love Burt’s bees. This one took be aback when I first put it on because it was a gift and I had not tried it before. My first thought was -Wow this is greasy! It is definitely more oil based than other balms- likely what makes it Ultra conditioning. I do notice I do not have to reapply as often as generally do with lip balms which is good! Keeps my lips feeling less dry for longer periods of time. And it seems to work well! So once you get over how slick it goes on, this is a great product! And while this one was a gift- I would definitely purchase. The only thing that would have made it better for me would have been maybe a light scent. This is totally unscented.

The lips balm also glides on easily and is smooth and thick without leaving a sticky residue which is important for me as I don't like the sticky feeling that most of the other lip balms give.

There are a lot of lip balms out there, any many of them sound like they are going to moisturize and protect your lips, but honestly, so many of them fall waaaaaay short! Not this one. Burt's Bees is exceptionally good lip balm. You will really feel and see the superiority of this product when you start to use and and then realize how lousy some other brands are! There are a variety of flavors to choose from, and that is frankly just a matter of preference. Some flavors are tremendous and others, are just ok in my opinion but overall it is the performance of this product that makes me give it the stars!

Bad for Asthmatics

Bought this in person for uncharacteristically chapped lips after seeing good reviews, and reading that the ingredients list didn't contain any "scent" or "aroma" ingredients. Unfortunately, the "flavor" ingredient, while I can't taste it, is aggravating my asthma, and making it difficult to breathe. This is a problem, as the product is directly below my main breathing holes. I had to vigorously wash the product off, further damaging my lips, and must now go back out for different lip balm. Frustrating and painful.

Extremely Disappointed

I know the essential oil is used for different things but should be easy to read on package, not tiny. I saw the Burt's Bees Ultra Conditioning Moisturizing Lip Balm. I thought I would try this thinking it would be even better than the Vanilla Bean I had been using. I looked at the front of the package and saw "Rich in butters and oils that hydrate and condition dry lips". I was convinced after reading this to try it. I opened the lip balm and put some on. The smell of Citronellol was overwhelming. It made my lips feel awful! I wiped it off but had to actually wash my lips with soap and water to get rid of the smell!! Citronellol is in Citronella oil which is commonly used in candles and sprays to repel insects. If you can imagine getting any of the vapor from the candle or spray on your lips, this is what it was like! The product actually made my lips dry and burn a bit. I wish I could give the lip balm a -10 on this review. BUYER BEWARE

First time user

I loved the way the ultra conditioning felt on my lips. I like the smell of this product as well. After a week of using I noticed my lips starting to look and feel dry. Please remember if you sell a good product customers will reward you by keeping you in business. I’m not sure if this was done intentionally to make people purchase more lip care products or what, but it makes me not want to buy anymore products with your brand. I also purchased some lotion, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Stop using due a tingling reaction

I am a bit ambivalent about writing this review. My lips are very sensitive and I have been using Burt’s tinted lip balm without any problems. For regular balms I have been using Estée Lauder which discontinued my old balm. So I need a find a regular balm and thought I’d give this one a try instead of Burt’s original lip balm. After using for 2 days, having to reapply much more often than the Burt’s tinted, my lips started getting tingling. So now I have stopped given that some of the 1* reviewers would eventually get an allergic reaction from it. I bought my 2 pack at a Walmart in Montreal and since I already used one of them very slightly, I can’t return it.

It locks moisture like a pro and feels so smooth, like melted butter, and it has a hint of citrus in the smell, which i love. Will be purchasing again.I tried several ones but none can beat this balm.REMINDER : you CANNOT moisturize your lips with a BALM. you need to moisturize them with HA, aloe vera, or another humectant (creams can be used too, not only gels or serums) that draws water to your lips, and THEN nourish with a balm to trap moisture and boom, plump lips. If your lips are chapped and damaged, repairing ingredients such as honey will help speed the recovery and keep them for worsening. I get why some people give this bad reviews - they're expecting an immediate, first use miracle. Here's the thing tho: when you first start using it, you'll need to reapply it often depending on how dry your lips are, because it's working. The emollients are absorbing into your lips, but it's gonna take a bit for them to get their fill. For me, the more my lips get moisturized, the longer the balm lasts on my lips, because they're finally getting enough of what they need. I haven't found any other balm that works as quickly & with such noticeable results as this balm, I can feel my lips getting better, getting moisturized as I use it. Yes, if your lips are dry, you'll need to reapply this until they're satisfied, which may take some time, but your patience will pay off!
