Despite this being labeled as “For Women,” Bal D’Afrique is a universal gem that could be work by everyone. A unique scent that stands on its own, it takes the wearer and those around them on a true experience. It opens with a fresh blend of lemon and bergamot next to some black currant and orange blossom. It blends down into a slightly floral but musky-amber-woodsy mix that is so warming to the nose. My only complaint is that I wish this came as a extrait. The longevity of the eau de parfum is moderate at best, becoming more of an intimate scent roughly 4 hours in wear. I’d recommend everyone give this a try.

Recieved this in exchange for an honest review. 2ml sample of Byredo Bal D’Afrique Eau de parfum 1st opinions very strong zesty lemon scent. I had a look at the notes which were as below; * Top: African Marigold, Bergamot, Buchu * Heart: Cyclamen, Violet * Base: Moroccan Cedarwood, Vetiver Very small sample therefore I sprayed four squirts on my hand and it didn’t last very long throughout the day. Standard sample bottle and standard sample box. Not too keen on the scent but it could grow on me, it is up there with pricey fragrances 50ml of this retails for £140. I would be happy to pay this price for fragrance however this particular scent wasn’t the one for me.

Bal D'Afrique or Bal Da-NO?

I bought this fragrance not long ago. Received a birthday Mecca gift voucher and decided to treat myself to one of the upcoming famously known fragrance brand - "ByRedo". The Bal D"Afrique fragrance is such a unique, fresh, luxurious scent... one of my favourites to be honest. The scent is very different to any other fragrances that I own. The fact that I don't smell this fragrance all the time on other people, makes it more special for me. For example the Chanel Mademoiselle is such a commonly known fragrance and scent, you smell it alllll the time. On the down side, Bal D'Afrique however does not last long, I would spray it in the morning to go to work. 1 hour later... it would evaporate... sadly. This one grows on you!

I bought this one in a set with Gypsy Water and Blanche (La Collection Nomade, I think?) and Gypsy Water was my favourite. But as my perfume collection is rather large, I didn’t revisit any of these scents until recently. I went for Bal d’Afrique first and initially it was sweet and lemony and not especially impressive. I asked my husband his thoughts and it was a flat out dislike for him. But as the day went on, the scent developed into something really special.Rather than “fruity”, “floral” or “musky”, Bal d’Afrique is a vibe. It’s optimistic, adventurous and bohemian. Funny enough, the one he preferred was Bal d’Afrique - the same one he hated the day before. When I told him what it was, he was really surprised, but that’s the magic of Bal d’Afrique.I’ve seen some people say it has a BO or urine smell. It’s the marigold (targetes). Marigolds are commonly used in gardening to repel rabbits. It’s an ingredient not commonly used in perfumery so it takes a few wears to appreciate this unique perfume. But if you give it few tries, it will probably grow on you and I think it’s worth the effort because it is a very special, unique fragrance. I chose Bal d’Afrique over Gypsy Water to order a full size of and I have no regrets! Gypsy Water is lovely and I know I’ll buy that at some stage too, but Bal d’Afrique is a rare beauty.

sprayed it in store and fell in love with her, but not the price tagtried securing a deal on fb marketplace and got scammed :(long story short i ended up buying it and have not regretted it at all!!it's such an easy scent and signature scent worthyyou don't have to think much about itit's pretty, elegant, clean with a little something to itthe vetiver in the fragrance adds a twist to the fresh clean scent and makes it so...anyways definitely try testing how it blends with your skin chemistrylongevity is not the best for me, which i expected as it is on the pricey side8/10
