Ghosts takes the Call of Duty series in a slightly different direction, the gampeplay remains the same but this storyline is very different from what veterans of the series will be used to. I have most of the Call of Duty console games and I much prefer the single player or co-op elements of these games to the online, speaking of which Ghosts has two disc and the first is the main game disc (the one you us to play the game) disc two has in fact to be installed to play the single player campaign. This shows how the series has evolved to support multiplayer over single player, that being said though the game still has a good single player campaign with an interesting story that takes you to an earth where things have not gone the way they were supposed toGhosts is ... MoreGhosts takes the Call of Duty series in a slightly different direction, the gampeplay remains the same but this storyline is very different from what veterans of the series will be used to. This shows how the series has evolved to support multiplayer over single player, that being said though the game still has a good single player campaign with an interesting story that takes you to an earth where things have not gone the way they were supposed toGhosts is another first person shooter in the Call of Duty series of games and this one has an individual story that takes place in a very different environment to what fans will be used to. You generally play as Logan who is one of two sons to a man named Elias, he tells a story of a division of highly trained men sent to deal with an outnumbering threat and many of them fall but a few remained after the first assault. Those men waited under the bodies of the dead with their fallen comrades blood running over them, when the next battle came the fifteen men killed all ninety of the remaining enemy and became known as ghosts (as they were forever changed because of the events of that battle and considered fearless). They boys wonder if that is a true story or just a tale but by the end of the game both they and you will know the answer to that, aside from the storyline the game centres on a battle between the "Federation of The Americas" and the "United States" after a super weapon was hijacked and used against the latter by the former. Now the Federation outnumber the U.S. forces and bloody stalemate has been going on for the last ten years as the U.S. forces hold what is left of their cities. All this is about to change though as Elias says he is tired of being on the defensive, he sends Logan (you and his other son David (known as Hesh) into no mans land (an unpredictable wasteland as a result of the initial battle ten years earlier) their job is to gather intel on the enemy but they find out more than they expected to. Although the game centres on Logan's perspective and the majority of the game you play as him there are several other characters you will also play as for short stints.GameplayWhen the shooting starts your first fight is actually starts out in space, thus bringing in the first new gameplay element to be found here - Zero Gravity shooting. The control here is not an issue though as physics is not a factor [they like to keep it simple], this means that you can float around shooting but the recoil of the gun won't push you back. They get away with this as you are in a spacesuit and have the RCS thruster pack on to keep you stable, you of course only have to aim your weapon and shoot the bad guys in typical Call of Duty style there is nothing else to concern yourself about. The next new element is underwater combat, in MW3 (Modern Warfare three) there was an underwater mission but the one in Ghosts is much more intense, there are a number of bad guys and as you are told three shots are generally required to take out a bad guy as bullets don't work so well underwater.Beyond that it is pretty much business as usual (as in enjoying simple gameplay thanks to Call of Duty's tried and tested user friendly control method). Aside from running around shooting you also get to drive and shoot from a tank, mounted guns and another powerful item that I will say nothing about as that would be a spoiler. There are a few press the button when indicated sequence (they are annoying but luckily there are only a few). Plus whenever a specific button needs to be pressed you are told and when you have to interact with something it is always highlighted to make it easier to locate. As with many of the more modern Call of Duty games there is an extensive multiplayer option in Ghosts, now as usual there is lots of extra content that can be downloaded (a good way for the developers to rake in extra profits by fleecing customers with downloadable content when it could just as easily have been placed on disc) but it is optional, the last game I did this on was black ops and it was a bad choice as I hardly used it.Ghosts is a great game that does manage to live up to the franchise in delivering the typical thrills a Call of Duty game can, but I would have been disappointed if I had paid the retail price back when this title was first released, the campaign was fairly easy for me even on veteran. But I have to say for the measly £3 I paid recently I am very happy with the purchase. In recommending it, I would say totally yes because the game is dirt cheap now and well worth a few pounds that it costs these days.

And they are made by Infinity ward. They have superb feel, perfect design for actual killing and action (not hiding in the corner and killing one person while feeling all that 'suspense' like in Battlefield snooze-fests, and yes, I own BF3 and it is craptastic), careful map design and great match-making, full lobbies et cetera.....Black Ops 1 and 2 are TREYARCH games - only PUBLISHED by Activision.... Okay- Black Ops' titles are vastly inferior to Modern Warfare iterations and only sell at 90% of MWs because 90% of the people playing are underage kids who have no taste (no offence, you are just minus your frontal lobes) and plenty of growing up to do in the discerning department.Regardless, this will be a superb game as MW 1, 2 and 3 all were. Black Ops 2, like 1, was really a bit of a fail in comparison.... Because minus Activision and copying killstreaks and what not, the games are unrelated in terms of feel and made by different people. Feel is what dictates how good a game an FPS is online.... But people who 'like' Battlefield and Black Ops always pretend this is the same as it is and was in Modern Warfares. This is categorically untrue. And so it is cool to see that this is essentially MW4 and so bring it on.What cannot be debated however is that all of these games suffer from racist elite times and systems, endless trolling by players, rage fests from losers, plenty of nazi and drug flags and pictures over the profiles of all the morons you encounter online... That you yourself will rage if hate losing, that noobs will hide instead of dying and expect to be good straight away and rage quit, that if hackers cannot ruin the game like they did with MW2 that they will be angrily wishing they could and hating on the game something merciless... And it will, like all FPS games, leave you with that grumpy, washed out feel all these games give you after you have played online.Personally I loved these games, but I recently sold a couple... Got rid of the poohnacious Black Ops 2 finally (sold)... And I am not sure I can do it anymore. But don't let these trollalicious morons put you off the superior fps game if you after an online fps and you like class games and can controll yourself / have fun, cos this is it. Not Battlefield, not Far Cry 3 (even though that is better than BF)... It is this. Like MW2 and 3 before it.... They just play too well. End of story. Anything contrary is trolling BS.

First of all, I love playing COD games, it's almost the only game I play nowadays. That being said here's what I see as the "bad" about this game:First, the latency issues get really old in multiplayer, and whenever I'm selected as host, it's like I don't even have a chance against the opponents. I intentionally slowed my upload speed on MW3 because of this same issue, so I wouldnt get chosen as host as often. I really wish they could resolve the latency and hosting issues in one of these new game releases. I realize it will never be perfect since it's a game played over the internet, but there has to be a way to improve upon the current setup.Secondly, Call of Duy in general needs to move away from leading players through campaigns and handicapping things in ... MoreFirst of all, I love playing COD games, it's almost the only game I play nowadays. Video games, like all other games, sports, etc, are supposed to be challenging, and half the fun of multiplayer is competition. The fun of a campaign is making it challenging, so you have to figure things out, and strategize to complete a tough mission.Lastly, the spawns can get pretty bad on this game, but that's nothing new really either. I think they try to make changes to the spawning system and sometimes it makes it even worse. Here are the things I see as good about this game:First, there's a good selection of maps for multiplayer with the initial relase, and the dynamic aspect makes them slightly more interesting than previous COD games. I always enjoyed how Treyarch included small dynamic features in their multiplayer maps, so it's nice to see from Infinity Ward this time around. I'm hopeful that the DLC content this year is great as well.Secondly, I like that they tried to add some new game modes. I think of the new modes, Search and Rescue is my favorite, as it gives you a bit more of a chance than Search and Destroy does, and introduces another strategic aspect to the game. I also like Cranked, as that keeps people moving a little bit, and doesn't allow for as much camping.Lastly, I like that they added some new killstreaks, I like the option of having the guard dog too, because it watches your back, gets martyr-dog kills, and gives you a warning growl when opponents are nearby.

Another awesome game for all the Call of Duty fans. It's a great game it's fun to play I don't have too many hours on it. I am only played it in single player mode so far it's been a good game as all the others Call of Duty. I haven't played anybody online with it yet so I cannot make a comment about that. I just kinda wish they would update some of the older versions The First Call of Duty's they came out with for the PlayStation 4. I'm not into the real high-tech games with a hundred different options for all the weapons and gadgets you can add to your player then it just makes it a little too complicated. I guess just call me old fashion. Even though I do own all of the Call of Duty games out there except for Call of Duty Black Ops 3I didn't like it. I guess being 50 years old I like a more realistic down-to-earth shooter version game . I'm not 16 years old 18 or 15 that wants all that extra fancy equipment. It is an awesome game to play if you're into all the futuristic technology that is not out yet. Just give me my 45 my machine gun a sniper rifle and let me go kill some enemies. LOL
I purchased COD Ghosts last year as a $5 Christmas special. I completed the campaign in about 8-10 hours total, playing about 1-2 hours in the evening after work over a week. The campaign follows the usual COD formula. The story line is okay, taking you from the depths of the ocean to outer space. Most missions were fun to play, but the prologue was a little slow to start and a few missions were a little repetitive. I got stuck on one mission driving around an air field in a tank looking for the last satellite dish to take out. I did enjoy the missions playing as Riley the German Shepard military dog. I did not play the multiplayer. I played the Extinction alien mode for about 15-20 minutes, but did not get into the rabid-dog-type game play. The Campaign was fun enough, predictable, but still interesting enough to play through a couple times. After playing through it once it was nice to have the mission select option in order to find collectables, fulfill trophy challenges, etc.The Multiplayer on the other hand seemed broken. Camping seems to be the favored (and only regularly successful) method of playing. An FPS should cater to various play-styles, based on load outs, preference, and what have you, not force you to play the most boring way possible to succeed. An FPS should cater to various play-styles, based on load outs, preference, and what have you, not force you to play the most boring way possible to succeed. Trying to run from cover to cover is a death sentence. When a camper could be gotten to, Revenge Spawns (killing an opponent and then having them spawn somewhere just behind or next to you) allowed them to immediately end your streak. These strange spawn patterns also made it difficult to gain anything close to resembling map control. I suppose gameplay mechanics like this are another reason camping is so highly valued. Couple that with the aim assist drawing an immediate bead on your enemy as soon as you ADS, and low damage to death ratio made for a less than fun MP experience. Latency continues to be a big issue, possibly worse than in previous CoD titles. At times you could seemingly be firing for a good second and putting 3 or 4 shots on target, only to immediately die. In the ensuing Killcam it shows that you barely got your gun up and were killed by your target before even firing a shot. The new customization options were alright, but the loadout/perk setup was a downgrade (not very accessible to the average player) from Black Ops 2's "Pick 10".The Squads game modes that involved other human players were some fun, although the human vs. bots modes were far too easy to clear.Extinction was alright as well, but there were very few clear indications of what to do (beyond put drill here, protect drill) or how to do them, mostly trial and error. Once you figure out all the things you can do and how to do them there was some fun to be had.In the end I traded the game in after about two weeks, and will not be fooled into buying another Call of Duty title for some time.
I have owned my PS3 for a number of years but never had the time to really play as always so busy. Bought this on a whim to try and improve my memory and hand to eye coordination as both were getting worse. Actually completed it after several weeks so thought I'd give multiplayer a go. You have to enjoy dying a lot in the beginning but with practice and praying your team is full of maniacs you can progress and become less noob. The multiplayer maps are varied some too large in my opinion Stonehaven anyone! I am ranked 27 as I write this and am getting decidedly quicker. Gun choice and options are huge and takes a while to get the setup that suits you and your style. I had to buy twice as thought disk was faulty only to find my PS3 needed an internal clean so lesson ... MoreI have owned my PS3 for a number of years but never had the time to really play as always so busy. I don't run around like a nut job and will always try an protect a teammates back but the joy of winning a death match is still fun. I am 54 and play with people who probably curse my one kill to 9 deaths but sometimes I get a 12/9 and don't feel so guilty. I apologise if I shoot at you in excitement, I apologise if I get in your way, I sincerely apologise if me dying a lot loses us the match but I thank you for your assists when I get cornered and am used for target practice. So as the title denotes, it’s not terrible, just not as good as others in the series. For the Wii U, it runs about as good as the 360 version but with noticeable FPS drops. Overall it’s pretty good, sucks that you can’t get the dlc for the game, or play any other mode than TDM online since the community doesn’t exist anymore. The main reason I bought this was just to have a cod game on the one console I currently have. As the campaign goes, it’s very bland, to me at least. Stick to playing online. Making your NAT type open is almost a requirement for smooth online play, especially on older consoles. So if you’re in a pinch and want a cod game to play, sure, this is it.
Not sure why this game received some heat by reviewers and users. This game really has it all. Land, air, sea, vehicle, animals (see through a military dogs camera), what is there not to love about this game? The missions are a little short and the clips between missions are a little long, but this is not enough to knock it a star. I just go get a drink between missions while the video plays. This is a very good and fun game to play that is action packed. I just got back into gaming after a 9 year leave. I'm playing all these "older" games that are brand new to me and I love them. I highly recommend this game if you like first person shooters.
Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 2, Ghosts, what will be next in 2014- What will be next- it will continue. I am not going to complain about the fact that Activision will continue releasing Call of Duties every single year through their studios Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Sledgehammer so that each developer has 3 years to release a game. Fine. The other gaming genres, such as in sports do similar things: e.g. Fifa, Madden, NBA, rugby, cricket, then there's the Third person shooters, the fighter games, the racing car games Need for Speed, Forza etc. Whatever makes the cut and produces the sales, fine. Whatever fails to sell, is unpopular online and gets poor reviews dies off. I think goes without saying. For me, single player is something played ... MoreModern Warfare 2, Black Ops, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 2, Ghosts, what will be next in 2014- What will be next- it will continue. For me, single player is something played through, as sysmatically as possibly, or I use to do so when I use to have more time. Multiplayer in Call of Duty is what matters to me, I own all the Call of Duty games, and one does not need to be a genius to know that COD4 and MW2 are without a doubt better than the latest COD iterations. This becomes a matter of personal opinion, others will disagree, that's fine. For myself, maps are what matter. As well as the feel of decent weapons. I have yet to truly cut my teeth in Call of Duty: Ghosts and by that I mean I have not been able to spend hours and hours on it like I have done in BOs or MW2 or COD4 due to lack of time (working and working) and the seemless transition to Xbox One has not been so seemless (Internet issues, moving house) that being said though, my initial impressions and views of Ghosts are not entirely favourable. I do like to give a Call of Duty game a "chance" before I leave it to sit in the storage container. Ghosts has a continuity to MW3 in terms of the shoodiness of the maps: no across the map lines of sight, lots of corridors and corners and little hiding places for noobs. Indeed the last two IW COD's seem to have cattered to the noob desire to "run and gun" or more like run and die and repeat. Too much openness, not enough cover, it is not difficult to tell the difference as well as superiority of the maps of Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2, as well the objectives of those games (get 1000 headshots with every weapon, 2500 kills, 1000 kills with every killstreak, etc) compared with Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Ghosts.Ghosts is better than the crappier "first person" games out there, BlackSite, Homefront/Frontlines, Prey, MOH Warfighter, The Darkness 2, etc but that shouldn't be that hard for Call of Duty right!-!- but superior to the original classics: Cod 4, MW2 ( I do not speak of BOs, BOs2 as these are Treyarch games and a similar review in the future will be appropriate to discuss their games evolution)- Not by a long shot, in a fact, I would argue, a step backwards. All is not lost for Call of Duty and Ghosts, but some decent maps, perhaps drawing back to the influence of the first 2 Modern Warfares and away from MW3(!) would be a good place to start, such as in DLC. Just some ideas. Just thinking about the current iteration of COD: Ghosts maps some words come to mind immediately: seriously!, terrible, garbage, rubbish, is this the best they could come up with- I've seen better maps in older better games! Until next time!
