I usually test my fragrances more than a sample will allow, but in my two weeks of sparse testing with this scent, it performed well. If you have ever smelled the original, it has a lot of the same notes but smells quite different. The leather and hatian vetiver give this scent a heft. Imagine a Fall evening around an outdoor fire with the scents of nature surrounding you. This was my feeling when I opened my Calvin Klein Eau De Parfum Defy fragrance. There is a pure and comforting scent of oiled leather, mature trees and spices from the campfire grill. You can detect the hints of pepper and oranges. There is a nuance to this fragrance that shows the work put in to offer a new and exciting experience in Parfum. I personally love the way it makes my senses open up to remind me of the beauty and strength of nature along with leather that’s been lovingly cared for. I personally will buy this Calvin Klein Defy and recommend others purchase it also. Fantastic addition to my toiletries.

Defy by Calvin Klein is a fruity, aromatic and floral fragrance. Its opening is fruity with an aromatic apple, a floral accord of lavender and a base of amber and musk. Its aroma is pleasant and clean, quite inoffensive, very Calvin Klein, it could be used in casual outings, office work and couple outings, because it is a very empathetic and correct aroma, which is both an advantage and a disadvantage time, because on the negative side that harmless characteristic can make it somewhat boring, and on the positive side it is difficult for those around you to dislike. Its duration with me was approximately 6 hours and a discreet sillage. It is not a bad fragrance, in fact its aroma is pleasant, although it is also common. Its scent reminded me a bit of F for Ferragamo.

I would honestly recommend it if you’re starting off your collection (if you were to find it a good price, not worth retail). It opens up with a burst of mandarin orange along with black pepper. Making the opening citrusy, pungent, and fresh spicy with the black pepper. It’s a bit of a screeching black pepper, making the opening a bit dry as well. As it develops, the mandarin orange sweetens up a bit and a soft note appears, probably the suede. I don’t detect much leather in here, you have to dig for it. It is great to see that Calvin Klein has stepped into modern fragrances after being stuck in the 90’s for so long with CK1, Obsession, and Eternity. This is the problem though. I feel like they piggy backed on the success of other fragrances in this category such as Sauvage, Y EDP, and Blu De Chanel. It’s a very wearable fragrance with notes of mandarin and black pepper. It will for sure get you compliments and positive attention. I feel like this is a fragrances that you can wear year round in all situations and it will work. I went into this review with an open mind since I haven't used men's fragrances and many many years. I prefer sweeter "feminine" scents. However, when I first sprayed this cologne, I was pleasantly surprised at the strength level, as well as the scent itself. It is a little difficult for me to pin down, but I was say the scent is masculine, with woody notes and it blends well with my natural pheromones. I liked how it smelled better at first, after about an hour descent seemed more generic and manly, but still smelled good. This is a good cologne, but I don't really think it's anything special. This is what you would expect from Calvin Klein and samples in magazines or at department stores. I would say it's definitely worth a try!

These are the first notes you’ll notice, and it’s a real purple type of smell at the opening. It has some light woody and orange citrus notes too, which give it a more rounded feel to it.
