I love the current version as of 20162017 original Chlo Eau de Parfum, so I thought I would give the EDT a go to have a lighter version to wear to places where I dont want people to smell me from 5 metres away Unfortunately, this EDT isnt just a lighter replica of the original, and the notes are actually different. Its not a bad scent per se, but if you liked the dewy floral and slight honey notes of the original EDP giving it that aquatic yet dry sweetness that I cant quite place, you might not like this one. When I first spray it on before its reacted with my unique skin chemistry, it smells mostly gingery, sort of like ginseng with a hint of sour wood. Almost gourmand. However, once its mixed with MY chemistry it might not do this for you depending on your skin, I start to get a predominantly clean, dry wood smell with a hint of heavy florals but still not much sweetness. If you know if the Body Shops Honeymania range, it smells like that mixed with driftwood. An alternative comparison is the Chloe Love Story EDP and EDT if they had more woodiness.Of the notes that are listed on the Sephora site, I only smell the Magnolia, Lily of the Valley, MAYBE a little rose, Cedarwood, and Amber..and this is only after it has adjusted to my skin chemistry after an hour or two. Immediately, I smell none of the listed notes. I got a few friends to test it out just in case. One said the fragrance didnt change on her at all throughout the day, and the other two also ended up with a heavy floral and wood.Sadly, its also just as heavy and has just as strong a sillage as the EDP, so even if you are ok with the scent, itll still be almost as strong.

Honestly, I should have known better than to buy perfume on a site called Overstock. I wouldnt go into or some such place and buy a bottle of discounted fragrance and expect it to be fresh. But I was misled by the excellent reviews here and thought, well, Overstock.com must have a pipeline to some perfumes of departmentstore quality and freshness. I felt nostalgia for the scent I wore in the eighties and later. This, alas, smells, at best, like some dimestore cologne my friends wore in junior high school. Frankly, it reeks. And perfumes are not returnable. I should have realized that too. So, mea culpa. If it seems too good to be true it may well be Im out 35 bucks or so but dont want anyone else to be.The box was sealed and the package was sent with very careful ... MoreHonestly, I should have known better than to buy perfume on a site called Overstock. A feminine perfume, with allure and complexity. The first note that hits me is vanilla, with the citrus undertone. I read recently that men are drawn to vanilla, since it reminds them of their mothers breast milk. Perhaps that is why vanilla is used so often in milk dishes, ice cream, and cookies. Along with the vanilla and citrus, normally a very clean smelling scent, are the spicy notes. Think cinnamon or cardamom, again with the food connections, as well as other associations with spices. We spice our food, to make it come alive in the mouth. It brings interest to dull food, and awakens other tastes as well, highlights the tastes that are already present. Underneath all this, are the bass notes, that seem to suggest a Mother Nature, earth queen theme. The overall ... MoreA feminine perfume, with allure and complexity. Underneath all this, are the bass notes, that seem to suggest a Mother Nature, earth queen theme. The overall effect isnt flowery, although a bit of jasmine floats by here and there, mostly giving complexity to the orange blossom note. The overall effect is anything but one dimensional. Actually, if you just inhale it once its sprayed, only the top notes register, the vanilla, the orange flowers and jasmine. Your initial reaction might not register the full symphony of notes. The themes take a few moments to develop, so the alcohol can evaporate, leaving the essential oils to mingle with your natural body oils and scent. At that point, its fair to react to the scent. As a guy, the smell makes me salivate, strikes up a bit of hunger perhaps. The themes suggested above, vanilla mothers milk, clean citrus, exotic spicy tastes, and deep mother nature allure, seem to come and go within the nasal palate. How people emotionally react to these scents defies description. Scent is a very primitive sense in people, more connected to food, hunger, and sex pheromones, than anything else. So if having yourself eaten up, consumed in whatever way that means to you, appeals to you, give Obsession a try. This scent has been around for awhile, so if youre unfamiliar with the scent, go to a better quality department store with a perfume counter, and test it.

I've been using Obsession for over 25yrs and the formula has never changed. I sincerely get compliments every day wearing this. It's not for every woman but, if your natural chemistry does well with spice or woody scents, this perfume will set perfectly and unoffesively on your skin. I wear it daily but it makes me think of cooler Fall nights or crisp weather sitting by the fireplace in my sweater and boots. This is a truly long-lasting scent that has staying power and lingers on clothes. I have been in love with this smell since being a little girl, my grandma wore it all the time and i have purchased multiple bottles. My current bottle is running low and i saw they carry it at ulta so i purchased it for the first time here. When i opened the box i was a little thrown off by the color, it was light like more yellow light amber than a medium dark amber. Then i sprayed myself and this does not smell the same, very similar but more of the woody note is present the amber and spicy note arent very prominent, i have purchased this bottle size from other stores and never had this problem. The smell isnt bad tho just isnt right, Maybe i just got a bad bottle or something but this bottle was not the obsession i have used for many years.
