Thru workups, deployments, exercises of all types, PT, and travel to and from who knows where. Camelbak products have been a constant, trusted companion.

I received this 1.5L Crux as a replacement for an older 2L Omega that had broken. For starters it only holds 1.5L as opposed my other one which held 2.0L. The quick connect is a nice feature, but as others have mentioned it looks vulnerable to failing. I do not like the longer handle on the new reservoirs. It is very awkward to hold while filling up the reservoir. The new on/off lever on the bite valve is harder to use than the previous model. And lastly the 2 hooks at the top are unable to keep the reservoir in place while being used in my UD running vest. The UD vest has a velcro attachment point up towards the top that runs through the hooks at the top. The hooks are too narrow for them to stay put. Good but a little hard to close without leaks

Got this as a backup for my current one because the reservoirs always go first while the vest is still fine. It's a good size and I do like the ability to shut off the valve. Easy to flip from on to off, even while running. The hold handle for filling is very useful. Only issue - you do need to be very careful while closing it. It's very easy to get just a bit off as you screw it shut, not quite catching. Then it will leak all over everything. The only way you know you've got it wrong is that one side might be uneven by ~1/16th inch. Other than that, it feels like it closed. As long as you check for leaks, though, it is just dandy. I use it in the vest for both trail running and street running.

Good, but needs improvement

Quick disconnect tube is great, but flow is too restricted through the coupler. It's like drinking through a coffee stir straw compared to my original reservoir with fixed tube. I may try to ream out the ID to improve the flow.

Great Replacement
21 August 2020

Bought a couple of the new Crux line reservoirs to either replace in my current CamelBak MULE or to use in a used CamelBak HAWG I bought that didn't come with one. The new dual hook system is different so you need to modify your pack a bit to make it work. Simple solution I have found is to hand stitch a 3-inch loop of either 550 cord or other similar braided nylon cord (boot lace works just as well) to the inside top of the pack or to the existing 1/2-inch strap that holds CamelBak's previous model reservoir single hook. With that I just slip the loop over both hooks and it hangs securely in place. Now I can use these new Crux reservoirs just like the way they should as a replacement.Glad they have the QuickLink connection on the reservoir as I like being able to ... MoreBought a couple of the new Crux line reservoirs to either replace in my current CamelBak MULE or to use in a used CamelBak HAWG I bought that didn't come with one. Now I can use these new Crux reservoirs just like the way they should as a replacement.Glad they have the QuickLink connection on the reservoir as I like being able to just disconnect the hydration tube without having to remove it from the pack and just remove the reservoir. I have different size reservoirs that I use and being able to use the same hydration tube already run through the pack is a time-saver/less hassle. Not too fond of the new on/off valve that comes with the Crux or care about the 20% more sip tube. I still have my previous Antidote hydration tubes and use them instead since the QuickLink connection is the same. So for those that have or use filters with their previous Antidote reservoirs, just swap out the new Crux tube and use your current hydration tube and filter setup. The Crux reservoirs don't have dryer arms like the previous Antidote reservoirs, so I bought some of those 18-inch reusable GearTie from NiteIze and use them to keep the reservoir open to dry out after use/cleaning. I wrap the middle around the new handle and bend the two ends to prop the reservoir open.

Leaked
27 August 2022

I bought this to replace my Osprey bladder and used it about three times. I was filling it prior to a race (of course it breaks before a race!) and water poured out around the lid’s seal. There’s no obvious tear or anything, it just leaks out under the seal and I’ve been unable to fix it.

I’ve only been able to use this once since I got it. If it’s anything like any other camelbak bladder I’ve had, it’ll hold up just fine. My complaint is that the photo had a brown hose sleeve not black, and the fill port is to big and bulky. Idk why camelbak put black on the drinking tube, then marketed it as a “military” bladder, with a picture of a brown one, then sent me black. I know there’s was no color options when I purchased it, directly from their website. Additionally there’s no military branch that uses black as their primary uniform colors. Coyote tan, or FDE is pretty much industry standard for these types of things. The full port and cap is freaking massive. It’s a 1.5l bladder, it shouldn’t be that big and shouldn’t have a silly handle either. It goes ... MoreI’ve only been able to use this once since I got it. Zero reason for the handle, and the cap could have been the size of a Gatorade bottle and I’d still be able to refill it just fine. Bottom line, the quality is fine, but I’ll be replacing it eventually with one that had a smaller fill port and no handle

Newer design rocks!
9 July 2022

I love the design. Much easier to close after filling. A plus that the line comes off for easier cleaning. And shut off valve for when not drinking. Of course it’s been several years since I have upgraded my reservoir. I like this size as I am a small frame size and this is size is great for my two hour mt bike ride.

Works Great
31 August 2022

Tighten the lid very well and you will have a great reservoir. I bought this to replace a 15 year old one that got caught in a flood and became moldy. I miss the old tube, the mouth piece was really awesome. I do like how this one connects to the reservoir, however it will be difficult to clean eventually, I foresee.

Works well, but failed in less than a year
23 July 2019

Started using the reservoir in an Ultimate Direction hydration vest, and it worked well. I like the over-sized tube and large shut off on the valve. Removable tube is nice for cleaning, but the connection seems like another possible failure or leak point. I used it about once per week on my long runs. After using for about 10 months, during a run my back started getting very wet and I discovered a small leak from what looks like a crack in the plastic where the tube meets the bladder. This seems like a low stress area, so not sure how that crack formed. The warranty process is a real pain. I would have to mail the reservoir to Camelbak, and they will assess whether it is a material defect or "wear and tear" issue. Not worth my time and shipping expense just to have ... MoreStarted using the reservoir in an Ultimate Direction hydration vest, and it worked well.
