A great mid-sized water and gear pack.

The new bladder design with an easy on/off cap, internal baffle and quick connect hose mount is a nice improvement over my old one. I also like the angle of the bite valve. The old one had a 90 degree bend and seemed to catch on everything possible. The new shutoff valve is larger and easier to use without being obtrusive. There are a few negatives, though minor ones. Once on they are comfortable. Finally, the clip to hold the hose is integrated with the sternum strap. I'd prefer it to be separate so I can adjust each independently. This is a great pack overall and I would buy it again.

I've been purchasing Camelbak packs going on 16 years and now have at least one designated to each activity I do; running, MTB, Cycling, Hiking, and working outside. I would say I still love the fit and durability of each different style I have (the one I use for working outside is the first Rogue I purchased in 2008), and I'm really happy Camelbak finally upgraded the bite valve design, but the added magnetic clip placement still needs a more permanent home to affix to on the shoulder strap or chest strap, or something. When the only place to affix it to is somewhere along the adjustable side of the chest strap it's just never in a constant place to mindlessly clip it back in. Otherwise, I'm still a loyal and satisfied user.

Light & comfortable; good capacity.

Nice hydration pack...I'm a believer now!
12 March 2024

I was skeptical about using a hydration pack for short to medium length trail hiking, by I'm glad I tried it and I'm a believer now! The CamelBak Rogue Light is large enough to hold the amount of water I need for a 3-to-5-hour hike that does not require much gear. The pouch and zippered pocket easily accommodated the essentials, including keys, small first aid kit, snacks and a lightweight jacket. The straps were very comfortable and highly adjustable - allowing for layering underneath. The pack fit nicely over a rain shell and expanded to accommodate a down jacket. My only challenge was with the mouthpiece, which was somewhat uncomfortable initially because I wear a removable dental device, but it worked fin after finding the right position. Not as good as the women version
16 July 2024

This is the man/unisex version of the Rogue Light 7. Unfortunately, it is not the same design. It lost the small but very useful inside pocket, it has these large flaps on the shoulder straps that get in the way, it has the added useless "pockets" on the shoulder straps. Despite being a men's backpack comes on a very neutral color. And for all that "improvement" you pay more for this one.So, as a man I decided to buy the women pack that it better designed and has a similar neutral color. My advice, skip this one, get the women version, and buy yourself a beer for the change.

Pockets, water, more pockets!
26 March 2024

This is my first time owning a Camelbak/hydration pack, and I am pleasantly satisfied with it.The construction is simple and small, with three main compartments - the zippered pocket for the bladder, a large top loading pocket, and a small zippered pocket on the very outside. The shoulder straps also have small elastic pockets that might be good for GPS devices, headphones, or a key, but they are not big enough for a phone. I found the large top loading pocket helpful to bring items like a book or camera with me, while the small zipper pocket was good for a wallet and keys. The pack is easy to put on, a little hard to take off at times (because of its small form factor), and overall good build from what I can tell. I've used it for a few bike rides and a run, and the straw is easy to grab and drink from. The clip for the straw is more or less easy to tuck it away.I've deducted a star for two reasons... The straw of the bladder doesn't exactly tuck or clip away as much as I would like. I would've liked a small magnetic clip to attach it to the sternum strap, instead of it hanging down by my side. I didn't find it a nuisance while moving, but it was something I noticed frequently. Also, the bag is quite small for my body (I am a skinny, 5'10 male) and it rides up my shirt from time to time. Also, to detach the straw from the main bladder, you have to reach all the way down into the bag, which resulted in some spilling of the water into the bag. Those are the only drawbacks I could really think of for this product.Nice hydration pack. Love the pockets and the slim shape. Didn't bother me while on the move, sometimes forgot it was there because of how light it is. Solid!

THE BEST COMFORT AND FIT
11 February 2024

I have been using the Camelbak Rogue Light 7 for mountain biking, road biking and day hiking. I am very happy with this product for the following reasons:Usage:Fantastic comfort and fit. Not sure if the comfort is due to the fit or the weight. It weighs 7 ounces as compared to my old Camelbak which is 16 ounces. It really stays in place even though there is only a chest strap. I took this pack over bumpy, rough terrain and it did not budge.I am really loving it for road biking! In the past, I would always get a backache after 15-20 miles but with this pack I can’t even feel it at all while riding. This will afford me lots of extra water storage space on longer day rides and will be a major asset for bike touring when I frequently ride over eight hours a day ... MoreI have been using the Camelbak Rogue Light 7 for mountain biking, road biking and day hiking. This will afford me lots of extra water storage space on longer day rides and will be a major asset for bike touring when I frequently ride over eight hours a day on trails with non-potable water. It meant a lot to me that most of the pack is made from recycled materials. The fabric is strong and sturdy and dries in a flash. I got the Serenity Blue color which is a nice change from neutrals and is easy to spot when you lay it down on the ground.Storage:There is an outside pocket with stretchy sides where I could fit my puffy jacket, gloves and a urination funnel for day hikes. It also has a long zippered pocket which fit my snacks, two epi pens, 3-oz. liquid allergy meds pouch and a pill case.An ingenious addition to both shoulder straps is a small stretch pocket where I fit my keys, a rag, pocket knife and phone (but not in its protective case). It was good to be able to access these without having to stop and remove the pack.If I could improve the storage, I would like the zippered pocket to also have some stretch.Bladder:Nothing leaked. The bladder cap twists off easier and seems better constructed than previous caps. I never had a quick release hose like this one has and it was a welcome surprise. The longer loop to secure the bladder inside the pack makes it easier to attach and still holds it in place. The best things about this pack: extremely comfortable to wear and it really stays put.

The lightest quality hydration pack

This is the women version of the pack. I tried both versions and as a 6'1" male I decided to keep this one. I wrote more about it in my review of the men version that is a not only different color but also different design.First off, this this is not a MTB pack! The description is wrong. If you're looking for one, stop right now and look for other models. For a MTB pack you need a lot more storage for the essential tools, medical kit, tubes, pumps, food, etc. This pack is good for summer hiking when you do not need gear or for the people in your party that do not carry stuff (e.g. teens), for road biking, for long SUP paddling, etc.I've been using CamelBak packs since the 90's and I'm glad they keep the good work going. The good:- the lightest pack that is ... MoreThis is the women version of the pack. It is drag one the bike. The other problem is that unlike the Osprey pack that has limiting clips for the opening, this one will get worse with use and time with materials stretching and aging. A small clip for when there is nothing in the pocket would have solved this.- the current CamelBak bladers are better than the 2 generations ago, but they are a step back from previous generation. It is a case of companies trying to change a good thing and ending up worse. First is the hose, that got larger diameter - you'll think that's good; it is not because it results in over hydration. Hydration packs are for drinking often small quantities not for gulping fluid from a bottle. You drink too much, your performance suffers, and you run out of fluid prematurely. The other bad thing related to the larger hose is that it's now stiffer. I hate a hose that fights back when I position it. One more issue is that if you have multiple generations bladers like me, you will now have to buy new brushes to clean up this hose. Why changing the hose? Just to be able to market "larger hose"?- next is the valve on the hose. The old yellow lever valve could be operated single handed - great on the bike! Now you need two hands as one hand is kind of hard.- the bite valve position is wrong, instead of being 90 degrees like the old one it's a shallow angle requiring turning the hose a lot more, and thus pulling the hose more, and having more hose hanging. Nicer looking doesn't automatically mean better ergonomics.- the blader refill hole opening size is about the same - good, but they changed the way the cap works from an inner to an outer screw causing the bulk of the assembly to increase. The worse is that now leaks are harder to spot when you tighten it up as they are hidden under the cap. You'll discover them when your back slowly gets wet with your sport drink.Neutral:- the shoulder straps have semiflexible plastic inserts for the vertical adjustment of the chest strap. It is good that you can adjust it. But on such light straps the inserts may not be comfortable for everyone.Overall, 4 stars, losing one star due to worse blader design than the previous generation. I hope CamelBak mines these reviews and gets the message.

Thoughtful design leads the pack
21 February 2024

I’ve had a camelbak and similar hydration pack-compatible bags before, but the thoughtful additions/features and lightweight construction of this Camelbak make it a winner. The pack is lightweight, has sturdy but extremely breathable padding and straps, and has well-placed extra mesh pockets for ease of use. In addition to a zippered internal compartment, the pack has an elastic pouch in the front which expands to fit sweatshirts, change of clothes, and my favorite - expands to fit a helmet. I’ve used this on bike rides and cannot recommend enough - the large pouch fits all my necessities and the mesh pockets on the straps provide perfect easy access for snacks and other goodies that are of limited use when zippered away.

Versatile Little Power Pack

This pack is small enough for an unencumbered experience, while being roomy enough for your gear. You could store stuff in the zippered section with the water bladder, in the open top “middle section” or in the front zippered section. There is also mesh like pockets on the straps… but I do wish these were a little bigger because phones nowadays are huge, and mine wouldn’t easily slip in, so it had to go in a zippered compartment which isn’t the easiest to quickly access while riding (for me anyway). Comfort wise… the stiffness of the pack gives for a weird feel, but not enough to be a deal breaker!
