Arrived within a couple of days of ordering. Walls made of the same type and coloured material as the awning itself so looks the part when setup - which only takes a few minutes. For those weight and storage room concious, it is a reasonably big bag, but the extra room under the awning when setup is worthwhile in my opinion, specially in unfavourable weather. Look forward to putting them more to the test in the near future but for now, so far so good!

I struggled with another awning on my Jpod camper and in the end decided to replace it with the Boss Awning . I was impressed at a local show. The best choice I have made because the first time I errected the Boss Awning took me about Tem minutes and so easy. The quality of the canvas and the strength of the arms to hold up freestanding is impressive. My opinion is that the 270 XL Boss Awning is the best move I have made to improving an easy set up for camping.

If there were more than 5 stars, I would definitely give this awning more! We’ve used it a few times now and it is so quick and easy to setup and just as easy to pack up. The way it wraps around the car is perfect and gives plenty of shade and shelter. Love the lights, especially that they are dimmable. Strong and sturdy, an absolute ripper of an awning. Couldn’t recommend enough!

The CampBoss free standing awning is a great design with nice features like built in lighting and D zip for back end roof top tent entry, it has support legs for adverse wind conditions and rain run off anchor points, well thought out.The mounting brackets are very strong but do not come with enough hardware to fit different cross bars, I had to use my existing brackets (not as strong) and try to reinforce them, a royal pain in the butt. The brackets need to com with a bolt on cross bar mount extension so as to fit roof racks like the Titan Rolla, so the mounting brackets can span two roof rack bars, to be mounted seccurely by two bolts per bracket.
We love our new 270 awning with rtt zip entry; it covers a huge amount of space with such a quick and easy set up. Our biggest problem wasn’t with the awning itself but rather the mounting brackets, we got it all on and then realised the brackets has bent significantly with the weight of the awning. We had to take it all off and then made our own brackets, which as you can imagine was time consuming, and for some people this would not be an option. The other design flaw we found on our ute was where the awning had to be mounted to allow the canopy door to open properly, caused the camp boss roof top tent to have flapping material, which would usually be held up by poles, but these poles couldn’t be used because the awning was in the way. This doesn’t happen when the awning is not set up, but does happen when the awning is fully set up. We made our own gadget to overcome this, however is a bit of a design flaw.
Bought the camp boss 270 awning with RTT entry about a year ago. I have set it up in different conditions including sun, wind, rain and hail. I have it mounted to my slide on camper and we are travelling around Australia this year. It provides a large shaded area and doesn't take very long to setup. It is relatively easy to pack away when compared to other awnings on the market that I have used in the past. The material is waterproof but you will find water will come through the RTT entry zipper if you opt for this option. Future versions of this awning would benefit if this zipper was installed with additional material to give it a bit of an edge, then the water would run down the awning rather then through the zip. Future versions of this awning would benefit if this zipper was installed with additional material to give it a bit of an edge, then the water would run down the awning rather then through the zip. The material I have found dries very quick, water beads off and doesn't saturate the material. The lighting bars in the awning are fantastic, makes for a really nice setting with the warm light. There is a couple of tricks when you are packing it up, like any awning. You got to make sure the buckles come over the arms and you have to pack the front arms in first which involves flicking the material over the arm to bring it in. Make sure your front arms are almost all the way in before closing the rear arms otherwise it will jam. Fantastic awning, yes the zip leaked during a storm but everything else is sensational; it stood up during hail without any issues and it comes with plenty of poles and ropes for windy conditions. Very happy with my purchase. Would be great if Camp Boss come out with some awning walls for this or maybe even a tent/screen room that attaches to the awning.
The ease of set up compared to roll out awnings especially when solo is amazing, I’ve had it out in some pretty strong winds and once the legs are down and it’s secured you would even know it was windy. Installation was easy, quality material and craftsmanship, the built in lights are awesome also. This is probably the best thing I’ve brought for my car.
This awning is very well constructed, with excellent welds in all the A-frames. I'm surprised I don't see more of them as in my mind it's best in class for the price. It is chunky lad, and sits quite high and wide, but I guess when it's as well built as this is, then it's going to have some size to it. That being said, there is plenty of room in the bag when packing it away, nailed it in one go the first time. It's worth noting that the unit we received did not have the cam-lock poles, but the more traditional twist lock. This was a slight disappointment, but they aren't the crappy poles you get on regular awnings, these ones appear to be a much higher quality and will hopefully last the distance. Can't wait to see how it goes on our next adventure!
Super quick and easy to set up, takes less than a minute. Strong, sturdy and once the tensioning ropes are done up its very ridged and doesnt need the poles put in unless its blowing a gale. The awning material is super dark and blocks the sun out perfectly. The poles have the cam locks instead of the twist locks and have a decent length on them which suits lifted vehicles.Zipper for the roof access leaks like a sieve when it rains so be aware of that. The lighting is built in and works great and draws very little power.Would be great if the non roof top tent version was an option at the time i purchased. Shipping was fast and arrived in good order.
I bought my Boss Shadow 270XL with RRT Entry, Very happy with the product, But when you see it $270 cheaper on Sale a week later makes me disappointed. I guess that makes me unlucky! I also read another review regarding mounting brackets, I also had to reinforce my brackets but that was for my own piece of mind, The brackets that come with it are quite strong and I imagine they would hold great, But I get told I over engineer everything. But the shade in my opinion is one of the best on the Market.
