I work out the look for an image (color images) using Pro Platinum and print for presentation on Canson Platine. I notice a difference between the two in bright highlights and deep shadows, the Platine has a better look in the brightest areas and maybe more detail in the deepest shadows. The glossy finish of Pro Platinum is another distinguishing point relative to Platine. Otherwise, the two are very close, but Platine costs four times as much.

I have been using this paper to print my landscape astrophotography images, and it is luscious. Almost appears like a metal print would. The paper arrived in a large, well packed box.

Have been using Epson printers for years mainly for colour. Was unable to get decent mono prints as my model only has one black cartridge. Bought the 100S because it has three black variations. Despite that my normal fotospeed paper produced a sepia finish and not true black. Was forced to buy canons platinum paper that gave a good plack print. Unfortunately the platinum paper is three times the price of fotospeed. I will only use it for mono prints.

This paper prints brilliantly, and reminds me of the very, very best quality RC (Resin Coated) glossy prints from the film days. It is affordable, and is one paper that Canon stands behind for being truly archival – like 200+ years archival! It will scratch pretty easily, so be careful, but otherwise it's just a dynamite value (and I print on fact German 100% Rag Baryta papers a lot)
I have been using this paper on my Canon ip8720 for about 3 years and have been very happy. Recently, I started a quest for something different and, hopefully, even better. One conclusion of my endless tests is that this paper is simply outstanding in terms of color gamut and accuracy, as well as extreme detail. For the price, it is unmatched. I did find a couple of semi-gloss papers that are equal or superior (primarily because they are less glossy and give a more 3D impression), but they cost a lot more. These include Canson Platine Fibre Rag, Canson Baryta Prestige and (best of all) Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta Satin. I will add some of these to my printing arsenal but I am not letting go of Pro Platinum.
I had seen professional photographer's prints done on this same paper but I doubted that I could achieve equal results. The only other Canon paper I had ever used was the Glossy II in 4x6 and 5x8 format. Having recently acquired the Canon ProGraf 300 printer, I put it, along with the 13x19 Pro Platinum, to the test. The images were beyond amazing! They actually looked better in print than they did on my high resolution 27 inch monitor that I used exclusively for photo editing. Digital screens, no matter the type or resolution capability, cannot compare to what this paper (and the printer, of course) can do!The images I printed were mostly wide open landscapes from the Black Mesa, Oklahoma area. I cannot say how well the paper might work for other applications nor can I attest as to whether it last 200 years as Canon claims? Who cares because I will not be around to know one way or the other. I do know that the last two prints I shared with my family brought tears to some of their eyes. What more could you ask from your photo paper?
I have been using Photo Paper Plus Glossy II (PP-301) for prints around my house and photo club competitions. Under incandescent lights the prints viewed pretty similar. However, viewed under daylight conditions or daylight lamps, I find the Pro Platinum has a much whiter base and hence richer B/W contrasts and more color punch. When a sale brings the pricing close together, I will certainly order the Pro Platinum.
I have now used three different surfaces with the Pro-100 printer, and my conclusion is that Luster is the best all around. This new glossy paper reveals detail and sharpness best and has excellent black reproduction, however the color is not nearly as good, particularly lacking in blue saturation. With this paper, I'm not able to match the saturation I get in Luster prints even by pumping up the saturation before printing. I am disappointed in the results I'm getting. The accompanying photo has good blue saturation on screen but the print appears dull. IMO this paper does not work to best advantage with the Pro-100 printer.
I have printed on a lot of different papers but this paper renders details better than the rest. You have to love the glossy look but other than that your photos will come alive.
yes, it is glossy. but the prints from this paper are really good. Like them better than the German papers and the price is much better. and pigment inks of the Canon pro 1000 add a little longevity is only 5 years longer than the pro 100 inks which costs less. To use on the pro one needs to buy the paper in rolls and cut it. But who makes the paper...there is no Canon name stamped on the back like most Canon papers.....Perhaps this is why it is so difficult to buy?.
