Canon EOS C70 Cinema 4K Camcorder Body
Overview:Incorporating key Cinema EOS video tools in a mirrorless- style body, the Canon EOS C70 Cinema 4K Camera features a Super35 DGO (Dual Gain Output) sensor for capturing nuanced images with up to 16+ stops of high dynamic range. The innovative DGO system combines two separate gain readings for each photodiode on the sensor, emphasizing saturation in bright areas of your image and lowering noise in darker areas. Video resolutions include DCI 4K capture at rates ranging from 23.98 to 60 fps, plus high-speed options up to 120 fps in UHD 4K and 180 fps in cropped 2K.Pro video functions include unlimited video recording, Dual Pixel CMOS AF autofocus control, a motorized ND filter wheel tucked into the shallower RF-mount flange depth, a BNC timecode input/output connector, and built-in dual mini-XLR audio inputs. The EOS C70 is also the first Cinema EOS camera with an RF mount that enables you to use Canon's line of fast, reliable RF lenses with advanced coatings and image stabilization. - This lightweight cine camera also incorporates a 3.5" Direct Touch Control LCD panel for quick, easy setting changes, and both auto-ISO and auto-gain functions for on-the-go adjustments to changing light levels. - The EOS C70 Cinema Camera fits into your C300 Mk III workflow as a B camera, as an upgrade for C200 or C100 users, or as an alternative for EOS R owners who are shooting an increasing amount of video. Power the EOS C70 using a BPA-60 or BPA-30 battery or the included AC power adapter. - To provide greater flexibility in lens choices, the EOS C70 camera is also compatible with the separately available EF-EOS R 0.71X EF to RF lens mount adapter. This adapter converts your full-frame lenses to Super35 format while also providing a handy aperture speed boost of around one stop. The EF adapter passes all the EF lens data through the RF mount, providing full Dual-Pixel Auto Focus and metadata information for select lenses. The EOS C70 is also the first Canon EOS cinema camera to feature the EOS i - TR AF X autofocus function, which uses a head-tracking algorithm developed with deep-learning technology for improved distance measuring and tracking reliability. - This digital cine camera records up to DCI 4K resolution video to dual slots using widely available and more affordable SD cards. High frame rates can be recorded in 4K up to 120 fps and up to 180 fps in a 2K cropped Super16 mode. Codec options include Canon's XF-AVC, XF-AVC Intra, and XF-AVC Long GOP, providing up to 10-bit, 4:2:2 DCI 4K images with reduced storage requirements. Amazing image quality and amazing files to edit! The c70 enabled me to step into a true professional video workflow. As a hybrid shooter relying on the r5 w/external recorder for video, that still overheated on 1/2 day shoots it’s amazing to finally have a professional cinema body for video and not worry about overheating or bringing extra gear to record audio. Getting the c70 has enabled me to eliminate an external video recorder and the file sizes are much easier to edit and way smaller in size. Having an external audio recorder is no longer needed since the c70 has built in 4-channel recorder with amazing pre-amps. And the best for last, the dynamic range and image quality is the best I’ve ever edited with

Canon C-70 Is A Winner! This is a really great camera so far. Its well built, the codecs are rock solid. It doesnt overheat. The 4K/CLog2 footage is really beautiful and you dont need a supercomputer to edit the files. Built in ND filters. Timecode in/out. Its lightweight, and a real joy to shoot with both handheld and on a Ronin. Buy the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R 0.71x and you can use your existing EF lenses, gain a full stop, and the crop factor is nonexistent. Yes, you have to buy mini-xlr cables/adapters if you want to use a boom mic or wireless systems, but overall its really great all in one camera system. The handle is a little rough to the touch as others have stated, but Im sure there will be additional aftermarket accessories made for this camera soon. ... MoreCanon C-70 Is A Winner! This is a really great camera so far. Its a great Cinema camera in a small footprint. Great travel camera if you have to fly, and I can see it being an excellent B camera to my C-300MKII. Its good enough that it could serve as an A camera for some smaller news or documentary type projects where you need to be able to run and gun. Its also Netflix approved, which matters to some clients. Ive shot Sony, Panasonic, Ikegami, JVC never buy JVC, and most recently Canon. The C300mkii, and now the new C-70 are my go to cameras. 5 solid stars. No, its not an R-5, it doesnt take high quality still photos just lower resolution jpegs if you need that. I always pack my EOS-R if I need high resolution still photos on a shoot. Also, my EOS-R doesnt ever overheat. Buy the C-70, put it to work, and you and your back will thank me later

It might look a little odd, but...This camera is the coolest thing since sliced bread. So far, with the .71x EF to R adapter, all the old EF glass is working - this includes the 24-70 2.8 original, 70-200 2.8 IS original, 16-35 2.8 V2, 135 F2 and more- all of these perform pretty well respective to their overall design despite the warning about optimal compatibility. The lenses overall will perform with AF about how you would expect. The old 70-200 2.8 IS along with the brick 24-70 are very impressive on the C70, so is the 50 1.2. Others that are a bit slow on the DLSR behave the same, so the camera will not bend physics yet.Image quality is incredible.

Best Video Camera Ive ever ownedThe C70 is my very first cinema camera. For decades I have only been using camcorders only one being a 1-inch type actually approx 16mm. So this unit was a serious update. Its also my very first interchangable lens video equipment. I only have the RF 24-70 f/2.8L for now.It can be quite compact without the top handle Im connecting a small stereo mic to the hot shoe connects via 3.5mm cable. Weight isnt too bad at around 5.5 to 6 lbs.Pros...Super 35 sensor with very high dynamic range.Really like how you can record two different codecs simultaneously. This really helped to save money on cards. Im currently using a 256 GB V90 card in the main slot and 128 GB V90 card in the secondary slot. I then set it up to record XF-AVC ... MoreBest Video Camera Ive ever ownedThe C70 is my very first cinema camera. Works great Stoked!Coming from the c100/5D4/1DX2 Ive been waiting a while for this camera. The reasons I bought this camera: 1080p @ 60p/120p, 4K options, codecs galore 10 bit/8 bit/420/422, face tracking/DP AF, XLR/Mini XLR inputs, ND built into the camera, RF and EF flexibility, SD Card media options cheaper, battery life, size and weight, convenience of filming all over. This camera will be great for someone coming from either a C100 or DSLR who wants one camera to do everything they need in practical video projects.I rarely shoot in 4K, but wanted the option to film in 4K without filling HDDs and slowing down my workflow the 4K codecs on this edit like butter imac 2015 i7 maxed TF out.
