Pros: This camera feels great - it's really fun to carry round with you and is much more portable than other DSLR cameras. Picture quality is amazing and there are enough features for beginners and more experienced photographers to both be happyCons: I only found 2 things disappointing about the camera. The first is the delay between pushing the button and the shutter actually opening. I found it really tricky to photograph my kids because of this. It was a shame, because the auto portrait mode is the best I've experienced- but only if the subject doesn't move. With my kids they'd moved by the time the shutter opened and the results were really disappointing. Doesn't happen in all modes, but is a problem in the modes I prefer. The second is a little thing, but I ... MorePros: This camera feels great - it's really fun to carry round with you and is much more portable than other DSLR cameras. The camera is awesome. I purchased EOS M5 with the 18-150mm lens. The lens seems to have a very good range. Photos are crisp and clear. The sensor produces low noise, good to excellent photos with the 18 to 150 mm IS zoom lens. A big plus for me. Great fit for my hands, for a small camera it fits in my hands very well. It is loaded with many functions and features just like a dslr. I have no problem seeing through the EVF.I am very satisfied with the camera and lens. It will be my every day walk around and vacation outfit to use.

Here's the thing. I do not always need a bigger camera. When I can put my professional lenses on this little guy, I achieve the same results and still exceed my client's expectations.Additionally, I can use the smaller lenses and travel through the crowd and be less obtrusive. This is a great small shoot, travel light, easy to use camera. The images that come off are crisp, vivid and capture the detail I am looking for. I highly recommend this camera!
Pros: Canon sent me EOS M6 model for review, and it is an impressive piece of kit. It came supplied with a 15 – 45mm Image Stabilizer lens. In the past we have had Nikon and Fuji cameras, so reviewing this Canon model was a pleasant surprise. When we define the word ‘compact’ we expect to see not many functions, well Canon has put a lot into the design of this camera, which you would not expect. One thing that does stand out is there is no viewfinder, which I found odd. It makes up for this with the large LED touchscreen at the rear, which can be pulled out to see yourself on the camera. The touchscreen is very easy and handy to set up the date and time, and many other features before and after you have taken photographs. You really need to spend some time to learn ... The image quality is outstanding for a camera in this price range. Images at full resolution of 24.2-megapixel you can expect to be roughly 6Mb in file size per image, hence resolution of a RAW file is 5 – 7Mb depending on the image size. With the Macro enabled I did manage to clock one image at 13.2Mb in file-size, which was a still-shot of a minicomputer circuit. All the components were crystal clear and all text on the microchips were all readable, no blurring even when zooming in to photographs, using the touchscreen, there are numerous ways of displaying your images, you do not need to scroll through one image at a time – you can ‘pinch’ the screen to show around 25-30 images at a time, and scroll through them by a page at a time. Highest resolution is 6,000 x 4000 pixels, which is more than adequate for most people, whether you’re an amateur or a hobbyist. The images produced by this camera are very good, with HDR enabled taking landscape photographs produces very detailed vivid colours, excellent contrast and brightness in most scenarios. It does have a built-in flash, which pops out of the top.It does have its own built-in effects which can be applied to images, but to be honest I personally prefer to do this with 3rd party software. You can download some good software from the Canon website, and transfer images via wireless, Bluetooth 4.0 or even NFC or upload to cloud storage via Wi-Fi. Personally, I tend to stay away from NFC and Bluetooth, I would recommend both should be disabled when not in use.The video by EOS M6 is standard HD 1080p (no 4k yet!). Videos are also great, stable, detailed and smooth. It would be nice to see 4k on a camera like this considering the price tag, but I can see 4k being added in a later model in the future. I used a SanDisk SD memory card I had spare. It was only a 16Gb card, but plenty of room to test the camera out for reviewing purposes. I only charged the battery once during all testing, this included taking many images, viewing them and sending them over Wi-Fi using the Canon Camera Connect App.All in all, this camera is a great piece of kit – do not be put off by Canon saying it is ‘compact’, it is not like any compact camera I have used before.Cons: No standard ViewfinderNo 4k video
I have been using this camera for a few weeks on my hikes in Colorado. It's a lot lighter than my older 60D. I spent a couple of weeks deciding between M6 Mark II, the Canon RP, or a Micro Four Thirds option. I ended up going with the M6 Mark II obviously. I really like the light weight body and lenses, I just can't carry the big cameras on long hikes any more.Image quality seems good, and the focusing was better than I expected (at least for landscape photography that I'm doing). I like being able to just touch the screen to select a focus point. I am getting very good depth of field which is nice. I took some beautiful photos of wildflowers with a waterfall in the background. It was a challenging steep location to take pictures and I was really amazed that they all turned out even though I didn't have to go through a bunch of settings while trying to get the shot.A couple minor things I don't like:1. It may seem silly, but I wish the horizon line/spirit level feature could be turned on independently from the histogram. When they are both on it is hard to compose the shot.2. It is a little to easy too turn the wrong knob and adjust exposure compensation. Hopefully I get used to the controls and stop doing this accidentally.Overall I'm very pleased. I think this will be the main camera I carry from now on.
OUR VERDICT Theres a lot to like about the Canon EOS M6 Mark II. Its small size and low weight make it the ideal traveling companion, without compromising on specs and features, and a super-high resolution APS-C sensor, 14fps shooting and uncropped 4K add up to one tasty package. We have a few reservations, but overall its a fantastic camera that's well worthy of consideration.
This is a great camera. I am loving the sensor, processor and lens. I have the 15-45mm because I wanted to be able to carry it in a coat pocket. It fits all my coats. I attached a testament to the image quality. The pic was hand held using auto settings. The inset shows the limit of resolution. The line from the sail boat mast to the bow is the rolled up jib sail! It was hand held at 45mm. This translates into crop-ability and I love that. There are enough controls and auto variations to do all I want. I am recommending this to all friends as well as the M100 which is almost a twin with a few less niceties but the same sensor, processor and lenses. I have the eyepiece but am not using it much. I am adapting to the screen only method quickly.
I've only had this camera for a short while, so I can only say for now it is smaller and lighter than the larger DSLR cameras I own. the usability seems to be on par with what I come to expect from Canon in general. I am very happy with the smaller/lighter sizing this camera provides for now. The quality is still the best. For my needs, I'm interested in the mirrorless format, so I may look into the R line of Canon's DSLRs later on.
Pros: Great camera for novice and professional. I’m a novice but my brother is a professional. I was able to get great photos really easily and it was great to get some effortlessly great photos of my baby daughter who doesn’t hold a pose for long. My photos looked like the sort my brother can achieve so I was pretty chuffed. It was easy to set up even without instructions so very intuitive. I ended up looking at the instructions after setting up and luckily had set it up correctly so proves it’s intuitive. But instructions were helpful for figuring out how to record videos. Once set up it’s easy to use. The different settings are really good and offer settings for everything you’ll need. I liked the HDR and portrait settings for contrast with the background - I got some lovely photos of my daughter in these modes. Taking videos was great once I figured out how to do them - pressing the record button in video mode not the point and shoot button. But interestingly you can still get photos in video mode by pressing the normal button. The lift up screen was good for taking selfies. The strap is good too and the camera doesn’t feel too heavy around the neck. I loved the caps that covered the lens on both sides and the camera when a lens wasn’t in use - it felt nice that they were protected. Overall a great camera.Cons: Only very minor bad points. Otherwise faultless. Sometimes the lens cap was difficult to get on and wouldn’t stay on so not sure if I was doing something wrong. Some of the modes were a bit fuzzy and wouldn’t focus but changing the setting rectified it. So I guess those who are professionals would know what setting to use best in certain situations. Whereas me as a novice will likely stick to one or two that work well. It is quite pricey but for good quality photos it’s worth it.
