A very good point & click for beginners and low novice. 20MP is better at close-ups and color balance is good. The bundle camera & accessories is really cool. Remember, nothing professional, but just really good quality. Ted's Electronics has some really great comparative online prices. I'm old and from old school, back when you really have to spend hundreds of dollars to get a nice to great picture from a film camera. And all the money involved in the process was not cheap. For me, this was an excellent starter kit. I'm slowly moving my way up (with equipment & gear) as I learn more about photography and these digital cameras. You old folks looking to get back into photography, don't be intimidated by technology. Pick one up and just start plying wit it. Had to do a bit of research to find out what SD card the camera takes and if there is a limit in the camera on card memory capacity. Found out from Canon card type and capacity is the limiting factor. So bought an SDXC 128 giga byte card which works well. Also bought spare NB11L battery. Bought case but it is too big so it will get returned and another one is coming. Possible to fit battery wrong way around as it is not "poka yoke". Very good quality image pics. Easy to transfer images to notebook computer running Windows 7. Already had the connection cable. Yet to try "pushing" the camera to find lts limitations.

Because there is so much to learn I'm doing a little each day. Have taken a couple of shots and image quality is excellent. I can tell with the little exploration I've done the features of this camera are high-quality. The only thing that bugs me is setting the date. The month and year are fine, but the day only goes to 12 and then back to 1. I'm going to call Canon eventually to see if this can be fixed. Maybe they know how to reset the camera to factory settings. It's not a deal breaker, but it would be nice if I can get the day set correctly. You can download the user manual from the Canon site and it tells you everything you need to know about the operation of the camera. All in all I think the value is excellent. I bought this about a month ago and it works perfectly. The camera has a great quality despite the low price, it also has a recording option. The battery lasts for almost a week (depending how much you use it), it also had the charger included in the box. It's great for a beginner like myself, I use it to take lots of pictures - for memories, for posting on social media and for my university art projects. I RECOMMEND THIS!!!
Have been looking for a camera to stick in my purse for random pictures. I have had upscale DSLR Nikons and Canons for years and although the Nikon family has topped my list, Canon was my first camera many years ago and always holds onto its high quality standards.I use my iPhone a lot for pictures but still wanted a point and shoot camera again and thought Canon would do best in low light and ease of use.The low light quality is not at all what I had hoped for and since there is no stability setting, this is made even more difficult to be a true point and shoot camera.Outdoors, in quality or natural lighting, this camera shoots very nice, high quality images.Flash use in low lighting is over powering.
On June 23, I took self portraits of myself with a Cannon ixus 185 point and shoot digital camera on a tripod set to a 10 second timer, I wasn't very far away, but very close either but I ended up with a distorted somewhat fat face and a double chin which I don't have in person, in the mirror or even in inexpensive camera phones even though I have gotten the wide angle lens distortion if the camera was too close to my face but you can't really tell how close it is and sometimes you get lucky and get really good results. Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid this problem? And I can't tell if I'm far away enough. And back in November 2019 when I first got this camera, my father just using the auto feature took a picture of me from a medium distance and my face ... MoreOn June 23, I took self portraits of myself with a Cannon ixus 185 point and shoot digital camera on a tripod set to a 10 second timer, I wasn't very far away, but very close either but I ended up with a distorted somewhat fat face and a double chin which I don't have in person, in the mirror or even in inexpensive camera phones even though I have gotten the wide angle lens distortion if the camera was too close to my face but you can't really tell how close it is and sometimes you get lucky and get really good results. Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid this problem? And I can't tell if I'm far away enough. And back in November 2019 when I first got this camera, my father just using the auto feature took a picture of me from a medium distance and my face was somewhat stretched from side to side like a wide angle lens camera phone, and I had the double chin, and I thought that's really strange why is this new camera doing this? I had never used it myself until now, and I hadn't looked at that picture for several years and I remembered that it wasn't good but I forgot it was that bad.I just tried to do test shots on zoom and portrait mode from a good distance and I still got the same distorted fat face with a double chin. I only got one good serious expression headshot portrait a few days ago but it had a yellowish bright tone over exposed look to it so it looks better in black and white but I was able to somewhat correct this on the color picture with a site that I can't remember the name of right now. I also took pictures with this camera of my self portraits taken with two different brands of cheap camera phones where I don't have a fat face or double chin to see if this camera would cause it in these other pictures but strangely it didn't at all! It's only when I'm taking pictures of my face live directly ( or my father taking the picture of me) does this happen can you please explain this? The camera took a nice clear un distorted picture of my bedroom lamp, but people's face portraits it's poor.
Good Points: This camera is a great size. It's small enough for a pocket or bag yet still big enough to hold. It's got a lot of features, probably too many, but is easy to use and takes good quality photo. Certainly comparable with a cheaper smart phone.Improvement Points: It's a very reasonably (cheap) priced camera. For the price you can't expect a metal case like your (grand)father would've had, but it is noticeably more flimsy than digital cameras of 5 or 10 years ago. I would hate to drop it!
most hamfisted camera i have had. The battery has to be taken out and put in a seperate charger. More often than not it takes pictures the wrong way round and there is no live help - Canon don't answer the phone or reply to emails There is nothing in the manual that explains why it is doing this, it looks like its taken correctly then when you view pictures its turned most of them on their side . To make things even worse they all vary , so some are fine , others upside down, others on their side so you can't even highlight the pics on the computer and turn them all round all uploading to computer ends up in the same folder so you have to keep renaming each folder the picture quality is good , it is just so much trouble to use
It's a nice little compact camera. I printed the full User Guide (113 pages!) off the internet and it's taken me a while to find my way around and to understand it. So unless you're happy to stick to just using the auto mode which is dead easy and is probably fine for most shots anyway, you need to put some time in to discover how to use all the other shooting modes and functions. But then that's cameras these. day. I would certainly reccommend it..
