I used off brand batteries for a few years as I got into photography and like so many before me, i realised that there is one rule in photography you learn the hard way. It is a BIG mistake. The difference in Canon batteries is remarkable. It will last for years. The others will not.Yes, they are really pricey, but they will outlast 5-8 of the knockoff batteries, and you do not need to worry about them damaging your camera.I know a few pro photogs and not a single one will tell you that a knockoff is ok.Not a one.

The Canon R7 really looks great. But I already have the M6 mk ii with adapter for my EF lenses, including some big glass. Gets killer pix. Tiny battery, while the R7 has a full-size battery. What next? Get a second spare for my M6, so I can do bird shots and moon shots without worrying about running out of juice.Might still get the R7, but I can get the pix in the meantime.

I have tried several off brands and they do work OK. The off brands, at least some of them, do not work with Canon chargers. Also, they do not hold their charge as long as the OME when they get older. I always have two of these OEM when I am doing some important shooting. ALL batteries need to be replaced eventually. These batteries last longer. Some of the off brands must change their dimension over time since they are hard to squeeze into the battery slot!

Grabbed 3 extras. One lasted over 90 minutes on 1080p at 23.976fps. And one lasted about 45-50 minutes on 4k at 30fps.Wish they'd last longer but I was shooting LONG footage, and another day I was filling up a card with short 4k footage. Very easy to pop in, pop out.I'll probably rent the same amount again when I need it, or just research different kinds of batteries. I have a feeling these are the easiest and best approach though.
Yes, you can buy knock offs at a much lower price. I have times when a knock off would swell and NOT fit into my cameras. Also, they do not seem to last nearly as long. I would rather own 2 of these batteries then 4 of a knock off brand. Canon batteries hold their charges longer and no question arises about their compatibility with a Canon charger which has occurred with other brands. Just consider how much you have invested in your camera and other accessories and even the cost of a trip to Europe or elsewhere. You want and deserve dependability.
There are clear marks of usage on the battery but it is listed as open box item. Packing is really poor. Just dropped the battery in FedEx envelope and shipped. Not even the pins of battery are covered. Also, there is no battery warning sticker on the envelope.Don’t recommend this seller.
I needed this for insurance for a vacation trip. Unfortunately I didn't think of this until the time for the was getting very close. I logged into Best Buy and got it with time to spare. Identical to the original in looks. Lasts as long as the original in function. I am very satisfied with the price. I am Extremely satisfied with the fast shipping.
I took three of these to a local music festival and used all three up in about eight hours. Three whole batteries in eight hours?! That's absurd. I must say that two of the three were on their first full charge, so I may not have gotten the full battery discharge. The one that came with the camera did seem to last longer until I did further testing later on in the week. Now they are all fine but still too small for what they are running.
This battery is identical to the one I have, a genuine Canon. It arrived fully charged, but when put into the Canon charger that came with my camera, it will not recharge. The amber charging light does not come on. Not sure what is up as my charger works for the old battery, yet will not work for this identical one.
I've read that mirrorless cameras are hard on batteries. My initial testing with the LP-E17 proved that to be true. However, after some research, I found that my EOS R100 has many electronic options on by default that really accelerate battery drain. I suggest you look this up for yourself on line. I turned all those things off, e.g. WiFi, Bluetooth etc., except Image Stabilization. After that theLP-E17 worked great! I easily went days without recharging and it still showed an adequate charge, to use Canon's description. I own two of these. The only downside is that sometimes the charger will throw an error in charging displaying a flashing yellow light. Canon talks about this in the manual. Reseating the battery fixes the issue.
