So far, my experience with the printer has been great. It performs admirably, was incredibly easy to set up, and I particularly appreciate the double-sided printing and wireless printing capabilities. I specifically sought out a printer with scanning capabilities, and the software provided by Canon for this purpose is user-friendly once you get the hang of it. Before making my purchase, I read through several reviews, one of which mentioned an automatic shutdown feature that caused issues with wireless printing. Initially, I didn't think it would bother me much, but after having to manually power the printer back on a few times, I found it to be quite inconvenient. Primarily, I use this printer for printing documents at the lowest quality setting, and it performs admirably in that regard.

I regret that I purchased this printer. My last Canon printer finally died after 11 years. Did a bit of online searching and ordered the TS7720, because of the brand, price, and reasonably good reviews. The first thing I noticed is that Canon is now Big Brother, watching everything I print. Second, I find the ability to customize print settings for odd sized papers are very limited, and print menus are not as robust as older generation Canon printers.Paper jams occur almost every time I print. Once the jam is cleared, it takes an extraordinarily long time for the printer to process that it was cleared, and then to reprint the document.Very disappointed, I've trusted the Canon brand for years. Would not recommend this printer to a friend or family member.

The Canon TS6420a is advertised as black, but it looks more like dark charcoal. This is probably because the material is a matte plastic instead of high gloss. The touch screen is rather small and I wish it was larger to make fine print easier to read. This is not a fancy printer and the quality is reflected in the price paid. I have owned more elaborate high-end color printers from Epson and Canon. They served their purpose and became outdated over time. I opted to purchase this cheaper printer to print basic black and white. It has no bells and whistles and is exactly what I was looking for. The setup on my Mac computer was easy. I have not set up printing from my iPhone yet. The print quality is good and so far I have not had any issues from out of the box. We also own a Canon MG7520.What’s good?Setup was relatively easy. I install or replace between 5-25 printers or multi function devices each year at work and this was a lot easier to get going compared to the other printers that I typically set up. My wife used the Canon app on her phone and she did have a hiccup on one of the connection steps, but once she turned her VPN off, the setup process was able to finish successfully.Photo quality: we printed a mix of 4x6 and 5x7 photos and the quality was comparable to our MG7520.Printing speed and overall noise: was faster & quieter than our MG7520.The touch screen. My wife likes touchscreens. And the light at the bottom of the touch screen illuminates the spot that all of the print outs come through, making them easily findable in a dark room. What’s so-so?While the printer was shipped with starter ink, after printing 10 photos, the color cartridge was over 50% empty after those small number of print jobs. The black cartridge is only down about 25% though.Compared to our MG7520, I was purchasing all 6 ink cartridges in the high yield versions to the tune of about a Benjamin Franklin and an Andrew Jackson yearly, so as long as these 2 cartridges cost less than that, I would consider it a win in the total cost of ownership category. What could be improved?Printing from the Canon app, only showed images that are stored in a cloud account (and not locally on the device), for printing images on the device, my wife had to go to each photo and “share” it with the Canon app in order to print it. Printing it this way seemed to leave white bars on the top and bottom of every photo. This issue was remedied by abandoning the Canon app, and pulling up each photo individually and then doing a File – Print command, which eliminated the white bars on the top and bottom of every photo. There might be some settings in the app that we could play around with, but we would likely run out of ink before finding the magic combination to eliminate the wasted space on the photo paper.
I have owned several Canon printers over the years, and they have almost always performed above my expectations, especially when it has come down to superior printing of photos and other graphics. One of my main interests in the PIXMA TS7720 Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer was to see if they have continued that tradition. But let me not get ahead of myself with this review. While unpacking the PIXMA from its shipping box, I was happy to see that it was packed well enough to endure the hazards of todays' shipping companies. The container itself did suffer some damage, but the printer itself did not. But let me not get ahead of myself with this review. While unpacking the PIXMA from its shipping box, I was happy to see that it was packed well enough to endure the hazards of todays' shipping companies. The container itself did suffer some damage, but the printer itself did not. The printer comes out of the box with a power cord, quick-start guide, two ink cartridges (1 color, and 1 black), and the typical warranty guide and warning guide. The quick start guide was nowhere near as in-depth as it probably needs to be. One of the first things it tells you to do is plug it in and power it up. However, nowhere does it mention that one needs to locate and remove the securing tape. I guess most people might already know to do so, but hey...if you have to put a warning label on a hair-dryer warning users not to use it while taking a bath...The setup was quite typical. After plugging it in, the touch-screen will lead you through the steps needed to get you up and running. It is necessary to download the Canon app, but the app is not needed to use the printer for its most basic functions.Like Canon, I highly recommend going through the printer alignment procedure. There is nothing worse that printed documents and images in which the alignment is off. This does take about five minutes, but it is well worth the time spent. After the setup is completed, the PIXMA is ready for use. I started with printing a photo. Selected a photo from my computer, and printed it on the PIXMA TS7720. I then printed the same photo with the exact same settings (plain paper, automatic quality setting) on another Canon printer. There was no comparison. The quality of the TS7720 was FAR below the quality of the other printer. In fact, the two were so disparate that I went back and double-checked my settings, and then printed another copy just to make sure I hadn't made a mistake. This was quite disappointing. I could understand if perhaps the settings were different, or if they were two completely different brands, but such is not the case. After the photo print, I printed plain text. Here the TS7720 performed as well as could be expected considering it is an inkjet printer on the lower price-point side of things. The text was clear, sharp, and easily readable. Even larger formatted text (much larger font size) was quite acceptable. There is one feature on the Canon TS7720 that sets it apart from others, however, and that is the ability to perform double-sided printing automatically. I was a bit surprised, again considering the price of this printer. The double-sided function works great with text, but as you would expect, on plain paper, double-sided photo printing was a bust...and this would be true for any inkjet printer, so there is no foul on this point. The printing speed is marginal. There are a wide range of downloadable apps available for the TS7720. The app relates to many of Canon's inkjet printers, so the apps are not exclusive to this particular printer.Another disappointing aspect of the PIXMA is the high ink consumption. After printing a limited number of text pages, and three photos (full page), the black ink cartridge had already used up around 25% of its ink, while the color cartridge appeared completely full. I am not sure if this is simply because Canon included trial size cartridges in an effort to save money or what. Either way, after a few more printing sessions it will be necessary to replace at least one cartridge at a cost of around about 25% of the cost of a brand new PIXMA printer.All-in-all, the Canon PIXMA TS7720 is a decent printer. I would recommend this printer to anyone needing just an occasional print job to perform, but certainly not for any type of moderate to high use environment.
I haven't owned or had to regularly use a printer in quite a few years now, so other models may or may not perform better/worse than this one, I really couldn't tell you. Handles printing from multiple devices well. Will need to be plugged in for power, but other than having it near an outlet can put it anywhere it can reach the network.Scans with decent quality. It doesn't sound like anything is wrong, or not working properly. It just makes some noise while doing it's thing. If the noise level is not a concern for you then overall this is an excellent choice for an all-in-one device.

The printer itself works fine. Haven't yet printed more than one small photo, so can't say much about color reproduction. Many have said the ink either doesn't last long or dries up if don't use regularly. Ink options not readily available in stores closer to me. Paper tray okay for occasional printing needs but not for high volume. Apparently some printers will print a picture from your phone even if it's not stored on a cloud, but not this printer, if that is a consideration. Price and availability won over that wish list item for me, and I didn't have time to explore all the pros and cons of the countless other printers in my price range. The scan function worked, that is, once I was finally able to get all the drivers installed. Don't need the Canon app just to print (can use printer driver thru Windows) but do need Canon app to scan. (Windows scan has limitations.) Link provided by printer screen instructions goes thru set up, which stopped me cold at "problem with connection," prior to installation. In my marathon research, many others had the same problem. I knew it was connected properly to the computer because it could print a document from the computer. No amount of plugging and re-plugging or restarting ever helped. Finally, I bumbled into the Canon website (not thru link noted above) and downloaded the printer/scanner drivers AND installed them successfully. But this was only after 3 hours of utter frustration and on the verge of returning. So, set up was not a breeze for me. I hope this might help someone else if they encounter a similar problem.
