Pleasantly surprised by this lens. Bought it for gimbal work on the canon C70 and Ronin RS2 as I couldn’t balance my heavier zoom lenses and wanted a lighter payload. Balancing the Ronin was easy and a much lighter rig to work with. Focusing silent on C70 although I believe it is quite loud on Canon hybrid cameras.

I am so glad I got this for my Canon RP, it's perfectly balanced, sharp, small and very light. Great for quick family snaps or travel, wouldn't hesitate getting it, if considering against the ef 35 f1.4 L and you have a mirrorless camera. Very happy with my purchase. Would say it's not as solidly built as the ef L lens but makes up for it in weight savings for me.

Pros: This lens is sharp. Autofocus is fast for photos and smooth and quiet for video. For EosR in 4k crop it makes for a good medium frame and in 1080 the wider 35mm field of view. Macro capability is useful and probably the small size and low weight of the lens are it's real strong points as it's a great walk around lens. Image stabilisation is also a very welcome feature here. Great price for the glass!Cons: No lens hood supplied and lens is basically just bubble wrapped in a box. Not Canons finest presentation I must say. When you turn your camera off there is quite a lag before the lens retracts back to resting state. Early on I kept forgetting this and putting my lens cap on too early almost forcing the lens extension by accident. No weather sealing makes ... MorePros: This lens is sharp. You could argue that it could be even sharper wide open or that Vs other 35mm it's a fraction of a stop darker at various stops but nothing significant. More to like than not like about this lens!

I was taking my 24-70mm lens on hikes and the weight was a killer.Decided to go for a prime that is good for landscapes yet can also close up macro if required.i looked at what focal length I was shooting mostly when out and is was approx 30mm so this was a good fit.Not perfect, but the weight savings is huge without compromise on quality.
Great image quality with a natural wide-angle for Landscape's or street. Background Bokeh just melts at f1.8. A great travel companion.sensitive to low-light. As a macro lens it gets close and sharp to capture fine details for half life-size macro magnifications. The programmable ring is so useful, I've programmed it to exposure compensation AEB.
I love this lens. It is compact, very light, very sharp, nice bokeh and fast focusing. It's not weather sealed but I rarely use my camera in the rain so that doesn't bother me. It may not be L build quality but it is as sharp as an L lens. Some people have complained that the AF is a little noisy but that doesn't bother me either as I don't use my camera for video. At this price it should be in the bag of every EOS-R or RP owner.
Heard great things about this lens and I wasn't disappointed.Very versatile and lightweight. Think the quality of the images are as good as, if not better, than my Canon EF24-70mm Mk2 at 35mm. The IS combined with the IBIS of my R5 is fantastic for video and stills. Can't afford to buy all the latest RF L series glass so thought this would be a great buy on a budget.I have found the control ring is also very useful for direct ISO adjustments.Would definitely recommend.
This is a fantastic lens for everyday shooting. The 35mm focal length gives a great standard field of view that works for shooting inside, for street photography, landscapes, and most general purpose shooting.Pros:- very sharp- fast. F1.8 is great in low light and gives out of focus backgrounds.- image stabilisation, gives sharp images even in low light situations.- 'macro'. While not a true macro lens, the close up images are impressive.Cons:- external focus. The lens extends when focussing.- the autofocus is a bit slow/noisy, though accurate.- not weather sealed.
Pros: Really good quality, solid lens. Not too heavy or big, versatile for both close ups and landscapes and street photography. Good aperture size for a good background blurCons: Macro is not full macro but is still fine for photos of close up flowers and insects etc
Pros: Great compact versatile lensSharp edge to edge, even at f/1.8Not true macro, but close focussing to 1:2Good value compared to other RF lensesCons: 'Macro' labelling but doesn't focus to 1:1, so not a true macro lens.Front of lens extends during focus.
