I am very pleased with this camera, small enough not to be noticed but powerful enough for broadcast television. Overall it's a fantastic camera.
I cover a lot of conferences and live events. This camera does a good job with autofocus and has decent low light. Those two things make it good for being on the move. The auto white balance is incredibly slow - so switching from screen to presenter, for example, is painful if you don't have presets. The body is too small. I am not a big person and I feel like I am fat fingering all the controls because everything is small. Also, the power, HDMI, and headphone compartments are covered with a cheap rubber cover hanging by a thread. They will definitely break off before I'm done with this camera. For $2500, you'd think they could give you nicer covers for inputs.I don't like that the volume control for the mics is on top of the camera. You have to adjust blind. ... MoreI cover a lot of conferences and live events. This camera does a good job with autofocus and has decent low light. For $2500, you'd think they could give you nicer covers for inputs.I don't like that the volume control for the mics is on top of the camera. You have to adjust blind. Yes, there's an onscreen VU meter, but I like to see how much I am turning the dial and I can't do that live. The WORST design flaw is that the battery release is on the bottom of the camera! So if I am on tripod or monopod - which I always am - I cannot switch batteries without taking the camera off tripod to release the battery. So far, I've made due by just not letting a battery go low before a new session, but we all know sometimes batteries just surprise die on us. And having to take extra steps to change the battery could mean minutes of recording lost when it could just mean seconds if it weren't for the dumb design. It's a good price for good quality video - but not good design.
I got this one because I have used the XA cameras for years and it made sense to keep the same batteries and cards. Over all it is a good camera. The quality is very good. It is slightly larger than the other XA's but it is not cumbersome. To be picky, I wish the settings were all in the same place since I am so used to the ones on all the past XA's. If you are used to 60p and are filming fast moving subjects there will be a blur filming in 4K since it is only 30 at 4K, you can still shoot it in 1080 in a pinch if you need it.Again over all I really like this one, the quality of the images are great. I have not done dim light shooting yet. I am looking forward to see what this 1 will do compared to the others.
Great camcorder with professional functions and quality. Love the USB -C ports. I can hook up a power cord with a 30w output charger and use it for hours without stopping. Easy to operate.
Been a Canon shooter for over 12 years now. Got 11 years from my XA10 hope to get the same or more from my XA7o
