If you have played the previous Monster Hunter games, you know the drill. If you have not, maybe pick up Ultimate because the learning curve is a bit steep.Things that have changed:- The caravan is now an waycademy, and unfortunately you no longer have maps of the different areas, just a map that shows all the different areas you can go.- You get a moofle baby instead of a poogie. Love it, pet it, let it headbutt you, it will now sleep in your bed.- There is now a palico recruitment base. You can have more than one palico go with you on solo missions.- You can play as a palico, which is great for gathering missions because you don't need to stock nets for bugs or picks for mining.I'm not too far in the game, but the more I play, the more delighted I am ... MoreIf you have played the previous Monster Hunter games, you know the drill. Also, if you have a New 3DS, the c-stick helps so much with camera views.

Technically, this game is a marvel. The sound, design, and graphics all shine through clearly and crisply in and out of 3D. Controls can take time to adjust to on a regular 3DS, especially with varying weapons, but work remarkably well on the New 3DS. The game itself will take a lot of your time to get into. Better armor and weapons take a lot of time fighting the same enemies over and over to obtain. Still, if you have the patience for it, it is a very rewarding experience to go back and readily defeat enemies that caused you so much grief. Lots of free DLC will keep you entertained for days on end if you're interested. Online gaming works flawlessly well!

I bought this pre-owned, and I enjoy it. It is exactly what it says it is. You go on missions and hunt monsters. The text is a bit small on a regular 3DS, and that's the only downside.

How is this all the rage?!
24 November 2015

So, I dusted off my 3DS in high hopes that this would be the game that finally attaches it permanently to my body. Well, it didn't. In fact I was confused. Maybe it was the nearly impossible control scheme, maybe it was the shoddy attempt at graphically rich environments, but it all meant that I couldn't play more than 10 minutes without wondering what on earth I was doing/supposed to do.
