I read a lot of the reviews about the fit being too small and to size down so i ordered the small and medium. Im 5’11”, 185, average build and the medium is perfect. I usually am between a medium and a large in other t shirts and jackets and the large probably would’ve allowed for layering but thats not what I wanted this jacket for. Its perfect for around town. The green is excellent and subdued. The zipper’s on the inside at the chest level are a little annoying and I may remove them but it usually doesn’t bother me. Im in Alaska and have worn this in 10°F weather and was fine. I really like the sherpa lining, the texture of the canvas, and the elastic sleeve closures. 100% would buy again.

I absolutely love this jacket. I bought it in the Moss color and it looks fantastic and have already had a few really good compliments. The jacket fits great, I'm 5'7" average build and it was a good fit. Not too tight in the shoulders and the sleeves were good for the length. I wasn't comfortable with the sleeves cuff being covered over by the longer length of the outer shell but that took a couple times of wearing to get used to.The jacket is a sherpa lined jacket and it really does a good job of keeping you warm. It rained all weekend here and I wore it out and it kept me dry all day. I'm not talking hurricane weather but it did downpour here. It has a hood and it worked like it should. Best looking jacket and oh so soft yet very sturdy. This is the best fitting jacket I own which for my size (long arms) and age is a first.I'm 6' 1", 170lbs, 41" chest, wear 32"x33" jeans (belly is 36" being honest), I'm a very active 63 yrs old.The biggest fit issue I always have is arm length which has always forced me into a Large or Large Tall. I have a Large Tall Yukon Extreme jacket which leaves me swimming inside the chest and shoulders unless I'm wearing the bibs. Anything smaller the arms are always short for me and the Yukon Extreme Jackets aren't offered in Med Tall. For me a Medium Tall is simply a perfect fit. Slender and tampered slightly in the chest and waist while the over all length in the back covers well below the belt and stays there to keep the wind out.My arm length (from arm pit to wrist joint) is 25" and Med Tall sleeve cuffs never shrug back when an arm is fully extended or reaching out working with both arms. I've never had a jacket till now where the back or shoulders do not need to stretch or apply any pressure when arms get extended unless it was an over-sized fit just for that reason. Not the case here. I couldn't be happier. No more swimming! It keeps me very comfortable even when temps dip down in the mid to upper teens here in Michigan for everyday back and forth to work or running errands etc. When it's time to run the snow thrower or do outside winter work than the Yukon Extreme and bibs comes out, but this jacket is by far my favorite jacket of all time and is my every day fall, winter and late spring jacket.

Perfect jacket for moderate Southern winters - Comically small pockets.

Really happy with this jacket. I was worried about sizing and about whether it would be too warm/hot, and am really pleased with how things turned out. First - Fitment. I'm 6'2", 220# and was worried that a Large - Tall was going to be too large or too tall. It fits almost perfectly. There's a bit of extra room around the chest/belly, but not enough to make me want to return it. Sleeves - OMG, this could be the first coat I have with sleeves that don't pull up when I stretch my arms out in ANY direction! The coat length of the Tall is perfect. It hits me about mid-butt which works great so I don't get cold air blasting me if I crouch down. Regarding warmth - this should be perfect for the milder winters of Atlanta. Maybe not so good for the arctic midwest, but I ... MoreReally happy with this jacket. Seriously, the reviews that mention pocket size are no joke. These pockets had to have been designed by a woman seeking revenge for their tiny pockets. I've seen bigger pockets on toddler jeans! Just don't plan on putting anything but most of your cold hands in the side pockets and you'll be fine. No keys/phone/hopes or dreams - not in this baby. You might get by with a crumpled up McDonald's receipt but that's pushing it. Thankfully there are ample interior pockets which are phone sized. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate in buying this jacket again or recommending it. I really do like it. Plus, HUGE thanks to Carhartt for the generous military discount!

The Perfect Balance
4 January 2023

I got the medium tall in black for my 6'1" (175 lbs) 22 year old son for Christmas and he loves it! Finally a jacket that fits his lean frame but long arms ... it's the perfect fit. I'm so glad I read the reviews to determine the right size for him. I usually have to order him a large for his long body and arms but it's always too roomy in the body, so this is the perfect balance. I tried to download a picture but I couldn't get it to download to the site, but it's a great looking and durable jacket. My son is very active and likes to look nice so I feel like he'll wear this often. We love it in black because he can dress it up or down and wear it with any color. I settled on this because the most popular carhartt for contractors of all time is not carried by our local store(Go figure). Buying online defeats the purpose of paying CASH and getting it NOW. I was even willing to buy the one I wanted in the store, with cash, if they ordered it for me, however the sales rep said that in order to order a jacket, you need a credit/debit card. Lame.Anyways, I hate this jacket. $180. Its not that warm, the zipper is very difficult to get started, and the front pockets are made for a childs hand. Forget actually putting anything in the pockets. Guaranteed to fall out whatever you put in the pockets. After a month with this jacket, and losing all sort of stuff (everything put into the pockets) I am going to go back to my homeless ... MoreI settled on this because the most popular carhartt for contractors of all time is not carried by our local store(Go figure). By the time you get it started, your already frozen.

You get what you pay for, and it seems Carhartt doesn't charge for the name
27 October 2021

I used to think Carhartt was overpriced. Oh how naive. I've been through a lot of brands with a lot of pros and cons but this jacket is a whole new experience standing far above the others. The quality and apparent durability are the first things I noticed. The outer layer feels very tough, something I won't worry about ripping on stuff. The sherpa lining is soft and warm, but not that cheap fuzz other guys use, the stuff is dense and durable feeling, super comfortable and warm (though oddly not overly warm but I'll get to that). There's plenty of pockets (2 buttoning chest, 1 zipping inner left, 1 velcro inner right, 2 open down in the usual jacket spot) the waist has a nice stretchy cinch system to keep in the heat and the sleeves have an inner portion at the end ... MoreI used to think Carhartt was overpriced. The hood sits nicely forward providing good rain and wind protection to the face and is lined with the same nice sherpa material that keeps the ears toasty. After putting it on indoors I was surprised I did not quickly overheat as I personally run very hot. The jacket felt very comfortable and looked great. I couldn't imagine it keeping me all that warm considering I was not bursting into flames yet wearing it in my warm house as I kept it on for about half an hour but then stepping outside into the snowy rain I immediately felt my legs begin to get cold in the wind, but where the jacket covered remained unchanged. Sorcery. I stood there a while disbelieving while I remained very comfortable, and then with a smile and a nod I took my magical enchanted jacket back inside. You Get what you pay for, and carhartt doesn't appear to charge for its legendary name. Every penny went into quality it seems and that's what is going to have me coming back.
