This Peacoat has much to recommend it - pleasingly thick but soft material, nice detailing, lovely bluey grey colour. But for me (slender build, 38 chest) even the small was rather too big, and especially long on the sleeves, so reluctantly returned.

Bought this for my 22 year old son, and he loves it. While he already had a longer line pea coat, he wanted a short one, and after a long search, bought this one. He looks fab in it and he was delighted with the quality and fit. We spent a while debating on the size, checked the advice on the J L website, and we're pleased that we arrived on the right one. I would say it is generous, and we went for Small over Medium- my son is broad of shoulder, but slim in the body.

This pea coat is made from a lovely soft wool mix, I've had pea oats in the past and they have been made from rough or harsh material and this makes all the difference. The colour is also unusual, it's not the usual black or dark blue peacoat colour, so it stands out. Other reviewers have mentioned the loose buttons, and this seems to be an issue but I have reinforced the buttons with a bit of additional stitching! Also, the peacoat doesn't come with additional buttons, which could be a problem in the future. Overall, happy with the item.

Pleased with the coat on first two wears, but on the third wear, just two days after I purchased, one of the buttons was falling off. Will need sewing to fix.Shame as otherwise I was happy with it. I would have expected much more form John Lewis own brand.The material is nice to touch and the jacket is warm and looks good.
Just bought this coat when on sale. Been waiting a good while to buy it and I have no regrets. The coat is extremely warm and stylish. I do agree with the buttons on the more negative reviews, I've worn the coat 3 times and they are loosening already. Otherwise, a great purchase.
Compared this jacket to a few others out there on the market and eventually opted for this one in XXL. The fit is great, leaving enough room for a chunky jumper underneath it. The cloth is satisfyingly heavyweight and the colour a pleasing subtle switch on the more standard navy or black.
Nicely made garment - essentially a posh donkey jacket - but a versatile coat that feels good quality. The L size had the right sleeve length, But I bought an XL size, and had the sleeves taken up by about 3.5 cm as I wanted a roomy feel so I could wear a chunky knit underneath it.Not cheap, but good value.
This coat is really something - a great colour which is a nice change from the usual dark navy blue. It's the softest pea coat I've had and I'm hoping I can snatch the grey one in the sale. It's finished beautifully with corduroy details. I'd say it's a bit pricey but feels worth it.
I took a chance and bought this for my husband and I'm glad I did: he loves it.It fits well, is warm and looks smart, at a reasonable price.I'd say it's true to size and the colour is excellent
This is the second John Lewis Peacoat I've bought for my husband, Good quality, stylish, warm and comfortable. Husband says he misses the front hand pockets of the last one but apart from that a great short coat and will certainly buy similar again.
