I had the previous version of this exact jacket. The interior lining feels thinner/lighter. With this previous version, I survived being on the side of a building in -40C (this was not the only warm equipment I had but it was integral). I completed a 10 hour work day in this extreme environment. I don't feel as confident that the insulation is as 'good'.That being said, this is a comfortably warm jacket for me in the scenarios that have been asked of it so far (0C). Sturdy metal zipper, the front pocket can hold my cell+case (plastic zipper). I am not used to the zip-interior pocket yet; the mouth seem smaller than the previous design. My last jacket lasted more than 13years and I would still have it if it wasn't stolen. I hope to have this jacket as long. Thank ... MoreI had the previous version of this exact jacket. I have been wearing Carhartt products since the 1980s. Up until recently, I have depended on the consistency of your products. I bought a Model # 014392-M duck, sherpa lined hooded jacket last week and wore it for the first time today. The jacket fits perfectly in the shoulders and chest, but is much too large in the waist. Today is very windy here in southern New England and the wide bottom of this jacket invites and allows every bit of wind to enter and chill me to the bone. Bad, bad design and fit.I purchased at a local retailer, but now since I've worn it, there is no taking it back. Sad, because I doubt there will be much opportunity to use this jacket this winter.

Product is great! Getting it was a hassle. Was given it for Christmas last year. Fit was to big so I wanted to exchange for different size. Went to the local Trading Post store that carried your product. Tried on multiple fits until i found the right one BUT didn't have my color. Employee went to computer to order it BUT that size and fit could not be ordered until NEXT YEAR (2023) because you only "make them at certain times". I waited A YEAR and went back to the Trading Post to order it . The next employee said that that particular fit could NOT be ordered by them....????? He said that I had to order it myself online. Which I did.....and received in 2weeks. Why I had to go through this convoluted road to get this jacket I don't know and since no one responds to ... MoreProduct is great! Getting it was a hassle. If the Trading P had not had the size for me (after trying on 6 different sizes) I could only imagine the nightmare trying to order ,return, order return until I got the right one. As I said it is a great product but I do not understand your customer service/ sales protocol.

I'm 6'2", weigh 210 lbs. and have a broad chest and shoulders so I originally ordered an XL because most other brands fit me well. The XL jacket length and sleeve length were fine but it was too baggy. Wind kept blowing up the jacket and it didn't keep the cold out (even when wearing a vest and hoodie underneath). I returned the XL jacket and ordered a Large-Tall (LT), which fit much better. The LT jacket length and sleeve length are perfect, it fits well and is not baggy, and there's enough room to comfortably layer up without restricting any mobility. I'm sure I could even gain 15-20 pounds and still fit comfortably in this jacket, even with layers on. For anyone with a similar body type (6'2", 210 lbs., broad chest/shoulders), I recommend the LT size. I do a lot of work outside and sometimes work with horses, the LT keeps the wind and cold out without restricting my movement or functionality. I hope this review helps anyone trying to make a sizing decision.
I have the "old" version of this, with the snap on hood. It is my absolute favorite piece of clothing. It has a great feel to it, incredibly warm and plenty of pockets. I look forward to colder weather, just so I can wear this jacket. It is like an old friend. Feels great every time I put it on! The pockets on mine are sherpa lined too. Not sure about this newer version, but that is a GREAT feature!!
How the heck can you sell this jacket IN MY SIZE (4XL) at only $151 delivered? That is insane! I had expected Carhartt jackets and coats to be expensive due to their reputation, but now I wonder how they're so affordable with such great quality. Many reviews claimed that this jacket fit larger than labeled, but my 4XL fits just right, which is a blessing because my arms and shoulders are often too big for proper and comfortable fitting -- even in my welding jackets. The first time I wore this jacket, it as 36 degrees out. This jacket is so warm that I'd thought about going back home to put on something lighter. Now I'm looking into what Carhartt offers in lower-body cold weather protection.
This is my first carhartt purchase and I will say it did not disappoint. I was extremely happy with how it fit and looked on me. I love the soft yet durable quality of this jacket. It’s doesn’t scream flashy like the Bartlett jacket but still stylish without too much attention which I prefer. The Sherpa lining is very nice on the body and I like that it was omitted on the sleeves for easy removal. I do wish there was Sherpa lining inside the outer pockets but not a deal breaker since there is a soft lining instead. When you hold the jacket it feels heavy, but when you wear it, it doesn’t feel heavy at all. I can swing my arms freely from left to right, however, lifting your arms up will allow bottom jacket slightly exposed. I ordered two sizes because I wasn’t sure ... MoreThis is my first carhartt purchase and I will say it did not disappoint. I was extremely happy with how it fit and looked on me. I can swing my arms freely from left to right, however, lifting your arms up will allow bottom jacket slightly exposed. I ordered two sizes because I wasn’t sure which size would fit me best between Small and Medium. I am 5’8” and skinny 130lbs with a 30” waist and I’m every happy with the size medium. I was concern this jacket would look too big / puffy on me but that was not the case at all. It fits true to size and gives me enough room for layering if I ever need it. The size small is more form fitting but it is short in length so your shirt will peak out below and there’s no room for layering. I recommend going with your true size. I live in Minnesota where temps below 0 degrees fahrenheit is normal but haven’t been able to test it in that kind of weather yet. But my first impression is I will most likely need to layer up to keep warm. You will also need to invest in a neck warmer if it’s super cold since the zipper doesn’t go past the neck leaving room for cold air to enter. Overall this is an awesome jacket and I absolutely love it. It will be my go to jacket and I plan to layer up with neck warmer if necessary.
Let me start off by saying that the J141 is my favorite jacket of all time, I've owned two of them and they're both beat up from being worn virtually every day in the fall/winter/spring for many years . This year I decided I would treat myself to a fresh one so I tried to order a J141 but found that it was discontinued and replaced with a new model #104392.The new model looks the same from the pictures so I figured it would be alright, but when the jacket arrived and I put it on I realized right away that it was quite different. The way it is cut on the lower part of the jacket that surrounds the waist is 6'' wider than my J141. This means that if you are a skinny guy like myself (5'11'' 160lbs) there is a bunch of extra space around the waist that leaves a huge ... MoreLet me start off by saying that the J141 is my favorite jacket of all time, I've owned two of them and they're both beat up from being worn virtually every day in the fall/winter/spring for many years . The way it is cut on the lower part of the jacket that surrounds the waist is 6'' wider than my J141. This means that if you are a skinny guy like myself (5'11'' 160lbs) there is a bunch of extra space around the waist that leaves a huge gap for wind and cold to get in. My J141 fits with a bit of wiggle room for underlayers, but there is way too much space in the #104392. I would understand maybe if this was an XL but I bought a medium! There are a few other differences with the new jacket that are minor and not as important to me (patch color, cuff material, etc.) but I wouldn't really mind those if the waist cut was the same as the J141. Typical Carhaart quality, nice stitching and solid fabric and zippers...everything you would expect in a Carhaart except the sizing! The waist cut is a dealbreaker for me, so I will be returning my jacket and searching for a used J141 on ebay or at a thrift store. I called Carhaart and was told that there is no plan to bring back the J141 unfortunately. It seems like Carhaart has changed the sizing to accommodate a larger belly - Understandable given the demographic of their American customers, but frustrating to an athletic guy such as myself. Just wanted to post this for anyone out there who might be in the same shoes - don't get rid of your old jacket until you try on the new one cause the fit has changed! If you find that you relate to this please leave a review because if enough of us say something then maybe they will bring back the J141 or change the cut or offer a "thin" version or something accommodating! Hell, they offer a "big and tall" version, why not a "slender" one....maybe I'll go check out the women's jackets :P might honestly be worth a shot!
April in Colorado is not the end of winter just because the calendar says so. Likewise my favorite local stores are all geared up for July 4th. You couldn’t buy a long sleeved shirt or a jacket if your life depended on it. Moosejaw is my new local store and not only do they have everything I need when I need it, the staff is so friendly I’m surprised I haven’t been invited over for dinner. Now for the good part( if everything I’ve said wasn’t enough) the prices are unbelievably low, quality is first rate and shipping is fast. I live out of town and make a once a week trip really count. I ordered my Carhartt jacked and it was on my doorstep two days before my next trip to town. Can’t beat that! Thanks Moosejaw!
I have been wearing Carhart for many years. I purchased a womans coat once and found that it does not keep me as warm as the mens coats. I only buy mens in size XL because when I need to add extra layers, I can. I really dont like giving up my broken in ones but they are so raggedy that now I am looking for the exact one i currently have. My daughter had something to say about my "2 hole pockets and shredded areas on the coat".....she ALMOST made me feel bad, but then I just remembered that it still keeps me super warm....I guess it will be my go- to for when I do snow. Now that I am older, I buy what keeps me warm....how a coat looks really doesn't concern me, however I like how this coat fits and feels. It is comfortable, roomy and has plenty of pockets.
