I love this yarn! It is almost like a solid piece, not separate plies, so it doesn’t split easily. I *love* that so much! This yarn is smooth and soft, and the cakes are big! The colors are so pretty, I wants them all, precious.... I struggled with my OCD not enjoying the self-striping, because I didn’t like how it was “off” on some rows depending on the width of my rows. I started using it two-stranded & making a more blended look to the color changes. Ohhhh, so lovely!I haven’t had problems with knots. And honestly, what’s the big deal with that anyways? You’ll always have to bring in new yarn somewhere. Weaving in a few more ends or having a few more knots in a project really isn’t a big deal (IMO) — especially when the yarn itself is nice and consistent in ... MoreI love this yarn! I imagine knitters would also appreciate the split-free quality.I wish they made this yarn in solid colors — all the colors, really. I wouldn’t but anything else if they did. I love this yarn THAT much. The only yarn that beats its softness & smoothness (and matches the split-free quality) is Mandala O mbré by that other major brand. But this yarn is more economical and subtly colored, which I enjoy.

Bought 1 cake of Cotton Cakes in the color Beach View at Stroudsburg PA Michaels but I needed 2. I ordered it on line. Was making a blanket for my new grandson. When it came I continued and half way through the cake realized the blue was different. I ripped it out and proceeded to call all the stores within 1 hour of me and finally found the exact ball band numbers so I drove an hour to get the cake and it was still different. SO VERY DISAPPOINTED! Waste of a Lot of my time. No satisfaction when I called Caron. I will not purchase again nor recommend. How can you sell a yarn that has a definite stripe pattern and color name and the change a color.

I chose this for a baby blanket. I wanted something cotton and soft. This is mostly cotton and it pretty soft. It was easy to work with and rarely became untwisted. I pulled from the middle and didn’t have an issue with tangling until the very end. I did not need to ball it before use. A new favorite yarn for me! Will use again.

The colors are nice and soft and muted. The color block are big sections, so a change of color will take awhile on smaller sized projects. There are some knots of the fabric attached within the cake, so crafter just be aware. I like the softness and non- shredding feel of this yarn. I try to crochet with this yarn as it comes, my first caron cake got unraveled and took hours to untangle, it was hours long mess, i prefer not to deal with afain
Yarn label says use a size 8 needle which is worsted, but this yarn is so thick it is chunky.I went up a needle size.Colors for once blended nicely.I used a Yarnspirations pattern for Caron. It was called "Dropped Shoulder Knit Cardigan."Yes, cardigan came out similar to that picture where no two colors were at same place.
This yarn is so pretty!! I wanted a muted rainbow color that wasn't pastels. I want to make an afghan for an upcoming "rainbow" baby and all I could find were bright colors. Then I checked the Caron line, since I've used their mandala yarns to make beautiful afghans before and I found this! Perfect for my needs!! It's soft, it's not a pastel and it's wonderful to work with! Once the afghan is completed, I'll try to remember to come back to update this review with a picture!
Love these Caron Cotton cakes! I just started working with them a month ago and have made 2 baby blankets using the cakes so far. I am working on a third. I find that 2 cakes are enough for a blanket about 30x30in. I really like that the yarn is easy to grab as a whole thread, as opposed to some acrylic yarns where the hook can sometimes go through it and miss the finer threads.
I bought this yarn as I was looking for a cotton yarn with good yardage for a donation project my yarn group is working on. We are making Soap Sacks to donate (with soap) to our local food pantries. The sacks are a a combination washcloth and soap saver. So far I've made almost two dozen and still have a lot of yarn to go. The striping creates nice patterns so not all the same.
These are dangerously smooth. They feel like the new(?) tom Daley made with love, the cottony one. I have been using them interchangeably. The color gradients are sometimes smooth, or sometimes abrupt but, the colors flow well. I had purchased a couple more colors with spring/summer plans. Another smooth winner in my book
This is a really different style of yarn than the typical I had worked with. It is more one strand than the multi ply type. It provides well defined stitches and is very easy to work with! I really love this color! It produces a reasonable weight of fabric. I am using it for a waffle stitch blanket. Although I know that a softer texture of yarn would puff this blanket up more and reduce the appearance of holes in the stitches everyone I have shown my blanket to has commented on how pretty it is! I will buy other colors for sure!
