Casio - A168WA-1YES Watch

This is a very good if basic Casio. The bracelet looks the part, though the silvering on the resin watch case is a little too shiny for me, however as a present it was very well received.For the uninitiated, the strap looks flimsy and the buckle quite insecure, however, it is actually very solid. It is also easily adjustable to suit the size of your wrist - you can do it in about a minute.I've owned about 4 Casios over the years - if this lasts the way they have (and they're still functioning!) then it is a nice little purchase. Watches can be so overpriced so kudos to Casio for providing excellent VFM.

Classic tignan and from my POV, I feel like it's a female timepiece kahit Unisex sya, maybe because di nga ako sanay sa steel strap, around 37mm ang dial at mga 18mm ang strap, kaya maliit ang appearance if you're a guy. pero nevertheless, it looks good on me and its 100% Original Casio timepiece. Salamat seller!

A Great Retro Watch!

Had this watch in the 80's as a kid. Traded lunch a few days for it. It was black and had the plastic band. Loved that watch, survived with me playing football and hockey. This new version I purchased is classy. Stainless steel band is brilliant, fits perfectly with an easy adjustment for wrist size. You don't need tools to fit it. I doubt it would survive hockey due to the link band but, this is more classy for an older individual looking for retro wear, not on the game field. Good for smaller wrists. I have a GShock I love and you could knock someone out with it's size. The Casio A168W-1 fits me perfect but would be a bit small for larger wrists. I like the simplicity of functions. I purchased this because of its place in the history of wrist watches -- the whole industry has come full circle from the quartz disruption of thirty years ago, to the present day, with the finest handmade mechanical movements ever available, some costing many thousands of dollars -- and this watch, to me, represents the undeniable success and worldwide proliferation of the digital quartz watch. The alarm is loud enough to wake me up, and it sounds for twenty seconds. It's easy to set, and keeps very good time. I chose this over the slightly more retro and classic A158 to have the updated electroluminescent (EL) light instead of the small LED which is on the A158. The A158 case is slightly smaller and thinner, and some owners prefer the display on that watch, finding it slightly sharper, with better contrast. I find the display on my A168 watch to be very sharp and legible, so your this is a matter of opinion, and a very small difference if at all. Casio makes somewhere around three million ofthe modules in this watch annually. It's an incredible successful design. I have thoroughly enjoyed using this watch. You really can't go wrong here -- it cost me $17.50, and represents incredible value -- better function per dollar than any of the other fine watches I own. I'm not going to wear it to a job interview or with a suit, but it does make a statement of function, value and even design.

Casio Illuminator is my watch.

I've had 2 black plastic Casio Illuminator watches. I like these Casio Illuminator watches, because they're light weight, you barely notice you have it on. The only problem with the black plastic Casio watch is the plastic band usually breaks before the watch dies, so after the 2nd black one, I got this one because it has a metal band. The case is still plastic that has been chrome plated, so it is still light weight. I didn't get this one at first because of concerns about the chrome plating wearing off, so I will see. I've seen other reviews that say the plating is durable. I really like the looks of this watch. You can't get a better watch for the price. I like that it is light weight and fits my small wrist without looking too big.

Casio survives snowy winter in muddy field

Very good value for money. Alarm, stopwatch, light as standard and above all Casio reliability that has been the case for many years. Have had Casios since schooldays and never had one go wrong..only had to replace three or four over the last 44 years because theyve got lost or the plastic straps have broken (which nowadays are easy to replace). This purchase is the first one Ive had with the metal bracelet style strap and it looks very good. Once lost one (one of the cheaper black plastic models) in a muddy field in Autumn..it stayed buried in mud for the whole freezing snowy winter and by pure chance it reappeared the following Spring when some horses in the field disturbed the mud and it was still fully working and telling the correct time!

Since then the watches have become so inexpensive that it makes more sense to get a new watch whenever the band breaks. I have a number of these watches working just fine, but with broken bands. I decided to try this one with a metal band. I had to find a YouTube video to figure out how to adjust it. It's not difficult, just not obvious at first. It yanks a few wrist hairs at first, but once they're gone it's very comfortable. The display is smaller than some models I've owned, but it's OK. Nice retro watch. Very lightweight, although this is due to the plastic case. Easy to adjust settings, backlight is nice. The alarm beep is not very loud, pretty useless as a wakeup alarm. Accuracy so far good, advertised as 30 sec/month. The watch uses a CR2016 battery, which should be user-replaceable. But the manual advises that the watch comes with a demo battery that has a much shorter lifetime. Unfortunately some of the settings require to push the button that also activates the light, so this will shorten battery life if done too often. Watch does not adjust for leap years. Water resistance is minimal, hand washing and rain should be fine, but do not use it in the shower or while swimming (Casio website info). This is a great watch that manages to do something very rare for any watch. It looks sensible and stylish with almost any occasion. It's light on the wrist so it wears comfortably. It's easy to forget it's on your wrist. The watch itself provided the essentials of time keeping such as a stop watch, day/date, naturally the time, and an alarm function. This really is all you need and nothing you don't. The light illuminates the display quite well so checking time at night or a dark area will be no problem at all. The band has been known to be a bit of a hair nipper but I haven't experienced this and the clasp is very easy to secure. All in all this is a great watch you can wear at the gym, at the office, practically anywhere.
